you really should see this series and the second movie (or at least the first and second movie)
to get a sense of just how complex and beautiful a story can be made. It so transcends what is usual (and what US audiences have been conditioned to expect). I could get into a whole rant but I'll hold off (not all anime is great, but when it is... :zomg )
