Wow, what did he do to get banned? I never thought that would happen. It must have been bad. Anyway, bravo to all those involved in that decision. Hugh, if you're still reading (if you really are a person, which I doubt) get a life.

Well I can't speak for nordic but there are times when i think some of what hugh was getting at back in the day made alot of sense. No one here would disagree about the way the media frames things or sets up ideas for the population to follow. Well we may disagree on the details but not that it happens.lupercal wrote: By the way Joe I noticed you and Nordic being very supportive in that thread so what happened?
I guess lots of people disagree with hugh's details cos they don't seem credible.
EDIT
As time has gone on our views have diverged. I'll have to get into details later cos its midnight here.

Re: A Toast to Banned and Disappeared Posters
I missed this whole incident, but Hugh should have been banned a long time ago. Not because his ideas were so uniquely provocative and divisive, but because he repeatedly broke the rule about accusing others of being disinformation agents, and ignored warnings against doing so.
He could be as wrong as he wanted, and debate his research all he wanted to. But before it ever got to the point where the "KWH thread hijacking" rule had to be made to stop so many threads from revolving around him, he'd already broken this one major forum rule over and over.

So Alice has gone? ffs you bunch of idiots, grow up. pages and pages wibbling on about some old hippy with a CIA-keyword-somethingthatwearenotquitesurehwhatitwas obsession vs someone posting from outside your US-Euro 1970s-1980s comfort zone. I'd take any one of Alice's recent posts about Egypt over the entirety of HMWs bullshit classic weed induced paranoia fuckwittery.

Alice left on her own AFAIK....maybe she'll be back...some of us have asked her to return
C2W left at the same time....she should come back also

gnostic, Pagels published The Gnostic Gospels in New York in 1979, Alice sells soap made in 1953 ("Ajax, it's stronger than dirt!"), and she hasn't been banned. Hugh on the other hand has been double-permanently banned, and the term "keyword hijacking" is a product of the internet age, a post-millennium phenom, so that dog won't hunt. The larger point is, in a thread entitled "A Toast to Banned and Disappeared Posters," would it kill you to say something nice about the only person here to develop a genuinely original analysis? Or did he spoil your favorite show, too?gnosticheresy_2 wrote:someone posting from outside your US-Euro 1970s-1980s comfort zone

Well, that IS the next step after "double secret probation."lupercal wrote:Hugh on the other hand has been double-permanently banned...

Yeah. For me it's the Martin and Lewis classics. Once you've realized they were CIA it kinda lets the air outta the tires. Makes you feel guilty, like you was supporting fascists er somethin'.

Martin and Lewis were more crypto-gay than crypto-fascists.

Goodbye and good riddance, Hugh. I (kinda, sorta- uhm... not really.) get you. Peace.

not that there's anything wrong with thatsunny wrote:Martin and Lewis were more crypto-gay than crypto-fascists.
The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.

It's not so much that I disagreed with him (except for 'woo' whatever the fuck that is), it's just that I agree with his general thesis so much that I couldn't stand to hear his self-caricaturing, pathetically antisocial, and totally counterproductive inner monolog any more. And yes, I think that name was the mouthpiece for a person with ulterior motives and not some cranked out paranoiac who couldn't get laid. Most of the time when a person is always accusing others of being infiltrators - it's them.
And I can't imagine why it took this long. I don't even care what the last straw was - just, BRAVISSIMO mods!
