Re: The "show off your Avatar" thread
Thank you, Peregrine,
Unfortunately, most of my pictures are on old fashioned slides and I don't know how to load them onto my laptop or even if that's possible. The small pieces I can scan.
I'm impressed with the clever graphics people include in the forums--how some of that's done is a mystery to me.

Slide scanners - borrow, buy or rent one to scan your slides...Or just take the slides to a photo shop to be scanned. Yup, they do that too, and you will get the pics on CD or DVD (make a backup of that as well - they are not indestructable)Cordelia wrote: Unfortunately, most of my pictures are on old fashioned slides and I don't know how to load them onto my laptop or even if that's possible. Of course--I'll see if my daughter can on her scanner. It'll be fun; slides I haven't seen in years since my light table broke.Penguin wrote:Slide scanners - borrow, buy or rent one to scan your slides...Or just take the slides to a photo shop to be scanned. Thank you!
(Though I might get really obnoxious with changing my avatar and writing posts just to try them out.......)

Re: The "show off your Avatar" thread
What mystifies me is why some of the folks here, obviously artists, did not respond to the .. well, you know.
Speaking of which, my current avatar was made by a current paramour. I feel portraits are best made by such as the artist tends to draw what they "see" and perhaps not what is actually "there", so I like looking at it too. This man in particular however, is a gifted artist and portraitist, but at any mention of a gallery show, he shies away and proclaims his hundreds of drawings and paintings are only a hobby. My crew of locals has managed at least two conversions from that shy position, but this one, I think he's stuck. Oh well, I still enjoy him.
I'll also change my avatar soon, this one might be too revealing.

And Percy, what'd you do with your poems you posted, they were really neat! Maybe repost them in the poetry slam thread?
And C2W, I like your avatar too, kinda looks like the Eiffel tower in amongst some colorful flora.

I think it looks like two people touching heads and holding hands at a festive dance. Can you make it bigger, so that I can invest in it more? You get 140 x 140, fwiw...Peregrine wrote:And C2W, I like your avatar too, kinda looks like the Eiffel tower in amongst some colorful flora.
