possibly the real reason he didn't resign last night, he/they needed time to shift some money around. I wonder what will happen to him now.

Be nice if they could return $69.999 billion to the Egyptian people...that'd leave Hosni a million bucks for Cristal and cocaine from the canteen at the Fletcher Memorial Home for Incurable Tyrants and Kings.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Here's to the extraordinary, courageous people of Egypt! What an inspiration, and what it must feel like to be on the ground there right now! I can hardly imagine. Would that we could muster that kind of spirit here. Prayers and hopes for the best of new beginnings. For Egypt, and us all.

Swiss freeze possible Mubarak assets
ZURICH - Switzerland has frozen assets possibly belonging to Hosni Mubarak, who stepped down as president of Egypt Friday after 30 years of rule, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said.

"I can confirm that Switzerland has frozen possible assets of the former Egyptian president with immediate effect," spokesman Lars Knuchel said, declining to specify how much money was involved.

In recent years, Switzerland has worked hard to improve its image as a haven for ill-gotten assets and has also frozen assets belonging to Tunisia's former President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali as well as those of Ivory Coast's Laurent Gbagbo.

That and tidy up some loose ends, shred some documents, transfer some prisoners, erase hard drives, etc...

The results of Fox News' whackadoo poll on what will happen next:

The Egyptian military will restore order, but not allow a democracy. 9.14% (915 votes)

The Muslim Brotherhood will assert power and become the country’s dominant force. 40.22% (4,026 votes)

Protesters and opposition groups will keep pushing, and establish a democratic Egypt. 13.29% (1,330 votes)

It’s too soon to tell. This is far from over. 36.6% (3,663 votes)

Other (leave a comment). 0.75% (75 votes)

Look for an Egyptian baby boom this November.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

What a lovely thing to wake up to!

What thrills me about this is how the Egyptians have embodied all the good qualities of human nature: love of liberty, noble determination, courage, cooperation, wisdom.

With that---they WON. They won, at the least, this victory today, and whatever happens tomorrow, their example shines.

Egypt? You ROCK!!!

WOW! I just got the news and after shedding more tears than Gwyneth Paltrow at an Oscar ceremony and beam so much joy and pride in the Egyptian people I thought I was going to pop - I looked on the Innerwebs for something that would capture the sheer magnificence of what went down and this soccer reporter captured it.

The Eqyptian people are represented by Barcelona ( in red and blue :) )
The regime by Real Madrid
I FEEL LIKE THE REPORTER

I can barely believe it! It can happen! Fuck yeah!!!

My boss came in to work this morning singing "freedommmm..." We sang it together while listening to the crowds in Cairo roar.

Beautiful.

Egypt you've shown us the way.
