President Obama's chief counterterrorism adviser on Sunday defended the administration's decision to try in federal court the man charged with attempting to bomb an airliner on Christmas Day and indicated that he would be offered a plea agreement to persuade him to reveal what he knows about al-Qaeda operations in Yemen.
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year-old Nigerian charged with the failed attempt on the Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight, was initially "talking to people who detained him" but now has a public defender and "doesn't have to," John O. Brennan said on "Fox News Sunday."
"We have different ways of obtaining information from individuals" in the criminal-justice process, Brennan said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "A lot of people . . . understand what they're facing, and their lawyers recognize that there is advantage to talking to us in terms of plea agreements, we're going to pursue that." Brennan told CNN's "State of the Union" that other terrorism suspects have "given us very valuable information as they've gone through the plea-agreement process."
Brennan's tour of the talk shows -- he also appeared on ABC's "This Week" -- came as the administration tried to counter, and move out in front of, widespread criticism of intelligence systems that did not identify Abdulmutallab as an al-Qaeda operative or detect the explosive he was allegedly carrying before he boarded Northwest Airlines Flight 253.

TSA tries to assuage full-body scan concerns
As authorities work to close security gaps, they also face privacy questions
It has come to this.
Already shoeless, beltless and waterless, more beleaguered air passengers will be holding their legs apart, raising their arms and effectively baring it all as they pass through U.S. airport security checkpoints.
Add the "full-body scan" to the list of indignities that some travelers are confronting in the post-Sept. 11, 2001, era of vigilance.

Federal authorities, working to close security gaps exposed by the thwarted Christmas Day terrorist attack on a Detroit-bound airliner, are multiplying the number of imaging machines at the nation's biggest airports. The devices scan passengers' bodies and produce X-ray-like images that can reveal objects concealed beneath clothes.
Forty units are in use at 19 airports, including Reagan National and Baltimore-Washington International Marshall airports. The Transportation Security Administration said it has ordered 150 more scanners to be installed early this year and has secured funding for an additional 300.
I mean, by now, this kind of stuff should spread like wildfire.
But it doesn't.
Why?

How did Abdulmutallab’s father become so wealthy in the first place? Umaru Mutallab was the Nigerian Minister of Economic Development in 1975. He then spent a decade as the Managing Director and CEO of United Bank for Africa. For the last ten years, Umaru has been the chairman of the First Bank of Nigeria.
So, Abdulmutallab’s father was instrumental through his government position in facilitating the World Bank and IMF’s entrance into the Nigerian economic system. He then goes on to head up several banks making himself filthy rich while the vast majority of Nigeria is impoverished to unprecedented degrees all the time and kept in check by ruthless police and military oppression.
That’s the “underwear bomber’s” “banker” father; a corrupt Nigerian banker with excessive connections to the IMF and the World Bank and who OWES everything he has to them. ……Now, here is what we have learned;
• Yemen increased its national debt to the tune of 5 billion dollars from July to September of this year (they may have borrowed more since Sept). The IMF, World Bank, and Paris Club members are on the hook for that money if the revolution in Yemen is successful.
• A World Bank and IMF indebted super wealthy “free-market” reformer in Nigeria goes to the State Department and then to the CIA in Nigeria to talk about his son.
• That same son, for reasons unknown decides “out of the blue” to sit on a small amount of explosives in a plane in Detroit. The CIA somehow misses the warning signs.
• The FBI announces immediately that the son “confessed’ that it was all Yemen’s fault.
• After the attack, all the banking controlled congressmen and the Obama administration announce we will attack “the terrorists” in Yemen and thus help “stabilize” the current corrupt government of that nation.
Now, one more thing… this one is funny actually that no one else caught it.
Daddy Warbucks, Umaru Mutallab (remember, one of the wealthiest men in Africa, banker extraordinaire) played a major role in introducing Islamic banking into Nigeria. Islamic Banking is represented and organized globally by what is called the Islamic Development Bank which is deeply involved with Nigeria now (thanks in part to Umaru Mutallab) mainly through a bank called Jaiz Bank.

Danish cartoonist attack suspect 'targeted Hillary Clinton' - Telegraph
The Somali man charged with the attempted murder of a Danish cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Mohammed had previously has been arrested in Kenya over an alleged suicide terror plot targeting Hillary Clinton, it was reported on Sunday.
Police caught a 27-year-old Somalian, who was armed with an axe, trying to break into the home of Kurt Westergaard at 10pm local time
Kenyan police are understood to have deported the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after he was linked to plans to blow up two hotels and a bus station in the capital, Nairobi, when the US Secretary of State visited last August.
The 28-year-old was later released for lack of evidence, the Danish daily newspaper Politiken said, citing unnamed intelligence sources.
Denmark’s PET intelligence agency earlier said that the man had been under observation for some time and was suspected of planning other terror attacks in Kenya.
“The person arrested. has close links with the Somali terrorist organisation al-Shabaab as well as with the heads of al-Qaeda in East Africa,” the agency said in a statement...

Because the variations and variety of counter-narratives make people confused thereby leaving the dominant narrative as the fallback position for most people.

Oh, I thought it's because just the vast majority of people were superficial shallow assholes.
People are fucked up. Or maybe I am. Why am I such an oddball? Maybe that's a better question.

Obama security adviser says bomb report a shocker
WASHINGTON
Thu Jan 7, 2010 8:58am EST
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Americans will feel "a certain shock" from a White House report to be released on Thursday on security lapses in the attempted December 25 bombing of a Detroit-bound airliner, U.S. national security adviser James Jones said in a USA Today interview.
President Barack Obama "is legitimately and correctly alarmed that things that were available, bits of information that were available, patterns of behavior that were available, were not acted on," Jones said in the interview published on Thursday.
Jones, Obama's top aide on security and foreign policy issues, predicted that Americans will feel "a certain shock" when they learn of the account the White House is to release later in the day.
"That's two strikes," he said, referring to the failed airplane bombing and a November shooting rampage by U.S. Army psychiatrist Major Nidal Hasan at Fort Hood, Texas, in which officials also failed to act on warning signs.
But Jones also suggested the report would show that the Obama administration is now on top of events.
"We know what happened, we know what didn't happen, and we know how to fix it," he told the newspaper. "That should be an encouraging aspect. We don't have to reinvent anything to make sure it doesn't happen again."
The president is scheduled to make a public statement when the White House released the report. The review is expected to make recommendations on plugging holes in security, including changes in passenger screening and terrorism watch lists.
Obama has already acknowledged a security "screw up" that officials say allowed a Nigerian man to board a Detroit-bound airliner in Amsterdam on Christmas Day with explosives sewn into his underwear that later failed to ignite.
Suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday for the attempted murder of 289 passengers and crew aboard the Northwest Airlines Flight 253 and for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.
