I dont drink alcohol at all myself and I have not for over ten years, granted I did not stop because I have a problem, I never had a problem with it, I just dont like it, I hate hangovers and it just never has been my thing, however, I go out with friends, colleagues and things and I will grab a non alcoholic beer because to sit there and not appear to be drinking something is a real buzz kill for others, so I will even act the part and act sort of buzzy and silly once everyone gets going and the party is rolling, everyone has a good time and I am certain at times they probably told others, oh yea Al was out with his last night and man he was partying down hard with us when in fact I was dead sober and I was the one who drove all their drunk asses home, which is something i do sort of enjoy, we can all go out and we have a safe ride home so that is my role usually and everyone is ok with it.

Seriously does it make any sense at all that he would preach sobriety in his books so openly and then invite his CRITICS, not friends mind you, not colleagues mind you, but his CRITICS, invite his critics out and get hammered with them ensuring that said critics are proven right that you are a fucking tool and a liar and a complete fake?

How much fucking sense does that make?


Honest question is anyone else finding it increasingly difficult to know what the fuck to believe anymore, its like today you read something and you are like ok that makes great sense, then tomorrow its something totally different and it also sort of make sense and youre left with this hollow and awful feeling that you simply cant find the truth about anything anymore and you exist in this perpetual state of limbo never knowing exactly what the fuck it is that is going on around you?

I dont recall it ever being this hard to just fucking know what to believe anymore, its gotten worse and I am not just being grumpy, I am serious, everyday I go through this with everything and I tell myself, what the fuck am I supposed to believe anymore, is everything a lie, is there such a thing as truth anymore or have we effectively fucked the world up so bad that truth is buried so far up all our asses that we will never again experience such a thing and will be forced to continuously live the lies that are fed to us from the left and from the right jumping back and forth almost minute to minute as the spin and narrative changes and changes, back and forth back and forth.

Two days before the start of the Iraq war in 2003, I remember this WTF news article

A fish heading for slaughter in a New York market shouted warnings about the end of the world before it was killed, two fish cutters have claimed.

Zalmen Rosen, from the Skver sect of Hasidic Jews, says co-worker Luis Nivelo, a Christian, was about to kill a carp to be made into gefilte fish in the city's New Square Fish Market in January when it began shouting in Hebrew.

"It said 'Tzaruch shemirah' and 'Hasof bah'," Mr Rosen later told the New York Times newspaper.

"[It] essentially means [in Hebrew] that everyone needs to account for themselves because the end is nigh."

'It's the devil!'

Mr Nivelo told the paper he was so shocked he fell into a stack of slimy packing crates, before running in panic to the shop entrance and grabbing Mr Rosen, shouting: "The fish is talking!"

Clarke sure is a mystery to me. From the "I failed you" talk to the revelations that he was out of the loop on the San Diego hijackers and now this. Love to know what's making that guy tick.

It is speculation and depressing to think even if it is true he was murdered, it may never be able to be proved.

Actually what he said was that the CIA was preventing the FBI from knowing of the presence of Nawaf al Hazmi and Khalid al-Midhar even as the CIA was actively monitoring. Richard Clarke

Honestly, I am a pretty "together" guy, I take pretty good care of myself, eat well etc, I dont suffer from any major mental health issues and I honestly am having trouble knowing what is up and what down anymore. Its just insane. This is sort of what happens in the book 1984, they get everyone so confused with doublespeak and newspeak etc that nobody knows what to believe anymore and they just give up and let big brother take care of it all for them. I seriously think we are living in that novel 1984 right now or close to it!

Could be. But the one article with the guy he's just met clearly says, 'Hastings and I got pretty drunk that night.' It sticks out as an unnecessary throwaway to the story, unlike say, "after getting drunk, Hastings loosened up and gave up his real feelings about..." The revelation that is in there isn't anything you wouldn't expect from Hastings.

who cares what they guy clearly says. All he's saying is his PERCEPTION, which is not even close to infallible.

I get it. But my experience tells me otherwise. Maybe a stranger doesn't know if I'm drinking or not, but someone I'm with does. Almost always. I've tried many times to say it's a vodka tonic when it was really club soda and lime. I've always been called out for it by the people I'm with. I think what you're suggesting mostly happens in the movies, or with strangers you've just met somewhere who have no reason to assume you're not drinking. And since both our observations are anecdotal, I'd say agree to disagree.

He did say the CIA was withholding from the FBI and the only reason he could think of was that they were trying to turn him. What he also said was that he spoke with Tenet every morning and Tenet briefed him on the most insignificant details of terrorism but Tenet and about 50 people at the CIA knew about the San Diego hijackers and it never came across Clarke's desk. He was saying it should have, but it didn't. I did watch that video a few times when it came out.
