What's in Your DVD Player, Patton Oswalt?

Yet, somehow he landed the lead role in Disney's star cartoon this year.

Wow, how could that happen!? Could it be that Disney (well, Pixar actually, related of course but different in many ways) does not actually consist of 100% evil people whose every word and creative decision is CIA-determined psy-ops!?!

Imagine that.

8ba sed:
I consider Patton Oswalt the best damn comedian since Bill Hicks.

Ive never seen a comedian that dangerous in what he references since watching old Hicks videos.

Mainstream Media: What's in your DVD player, Bill Hicks?

Bill Hicks: uh, Clamlappers Volumes 1-90, why?

I was working in a record store in late 96'/early '97 when a shipment of stuff came in from Rykodisc. Inside was a promotional cassette compliation of those first couple of Bill Hicks albums they released.
I had never heard of him, but the cd player on the boom box was busted anyway, so I put it in.
The first 15 minutes or so was "dick jokes".

Then he started to talk about Waco.
I had my "Bill Hicks moment".

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
B C B C B C B C B C B C B and on and on into ad infinitum.....

"I'll show you politics in America right here, 'I believe the puppet on the right shares my beliefs.' 'Well, I believe the puppet on the left is more to my liking.' Hey, wait a minute, there's one guy holding up both puppets! 'Go back to bed, America, your government is in control. Here's Love Connection, watch this and get fat and stupid. By the way, keep drinking beer you fucking morons.'"

All I can say is, I am so glad I had Bill Hicks in my system when the Monica Lewinski story broke. I knew that Clinton now had his excuse for why he wasn't going to achieve a damn thing in his second term.
"So sorry, (pause and bites lip) I really wanted to bring about change, really I did."

Oh, and I guess I had my "Patton Oswalt moment" regarding keyword hijacking when no one recognized what a beautiful chance for double keyword hijacking a name like Patton Oswald was. That was when I realized maybe someone didn't see the forest for the trees some times. Funnily enough, Networks' Howard Beale had the same problem.

This old man I've talked about
Broke his own heart,
Poured it in the ground.
Big red tree grew up and out,
Throw up its leaves,
Spins round and round.
I know all this and more.

So take your hat off
When you're talking to me
And be there when I feed the tree.

This old man I used to be
Spins around, around, around the tree.
Silver baby come to me.
I'll only hurt you in my dreams.

I know all this and...
Eye know all this and...
I know all this and more.

So take your hat off boy
When you're talking to me
And be there when I feed the tree.

No one? We had a whole thread of it, and it was as ridiculous as usual.

Really, it's possible!
I have an appointment to go pound sand and then I'll be fine and ready to irritate orz with hidden history again.

this one's for you Hugh:
Artist: Belly
Song: Stay
Album: Star

Stay oh oh oh oh stay.
Stay oh oh oh oh stay.

Solomon dives for that big dusky pearl.
Solo man sighs he knows he's older than me.

Sleeps with the fishes soon.

Stay (stay) oh oh oh oh stay.
Stay (stay) oh oh oh oh stay.

Solomon crawls on the belly of God.
Solo man falls on his face in love with me.
He grows as old as the sea

Deep where the fishes are.

Stay oh oh oh oh stay.
Stay oh oh oh oh stay.
Stay oh oh oh oh stay.
Stay oh oh oh oh stay.

He lives in the yard.
He keeps himself hard.
He keeps himself homeless
and heartless
and hard.

He sleeps under stairs
Along with the heirs
of nothing,
And nothing
Means no one who cares.

But I love him dear,
And I love him near,
And I've loved him hundreds of thousands of years.

Stay.

Stay oh oh oh oh stay.
(Stay with me).
Stay oh oh oh oh stay.
(Stay with me).

It's not time for me to go.
It's not time for me to go.
It's not time for me to go.
Stay.

keep squee-gee-ing that third eye of yours' Hugh!
we need your unique vision.....

come back soon and tell us what is in your DVD player!!

Patton Oswalt Trolls Twitter Conservatives With Brilliant Lesson
Image
On Saturday, Patton Oswalt pulled off a truly masterful Twitter prank. Not only did he spark the ire and fury of conservatives on the social networking site, he proved an important point about context in comedy, and in argument in general.

He's long been a champion of free speech in comedy -- sometimes controversially -- and that reached a boiling point earlier this summer when he tangled with Salon over an article criticizing one of his tweets. But this time, conservatives on Twitter were the target of his experiment.

The comedian and writer rattled off a series of tweets that started innocuous...

@pattonoswalt: I ordered the soufflé at the 9/11 Museum cafe and the kitchen just told me it "collapsed." Seems a little too convenient. Who benefits?
