Recruiting goals up for 2008.

Postby Hugh Manatee Wins » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:26 am

Recruiting has been struggling for a few years but now the goals are even higher.

The very poor are not signing up. The war against the middle class has more lower-middle class people now signing up. What do the people in 'Cloverfield' look like?
(Check out the by-line name on the article below. Heh.)

FY 2007 U.S. Military Recruiting Statistics
From Rod Powers,
Your Guide to US Military.

Oct 11 2007

The Department of Defense has announced its recruiting statistics by the active and reserve components for Fiscal Year 2007. A "Fiscal Year" runs from October through December.

All of the active duty branches met or exceeded their recruiting goals for the fiscal year. On the Reserve side, four of the six reserve componants met or exceeded their recruiting goals.

The Army's recruiting sucess was not without price. During Fiscal Year 2007, only 79 percent of the new recruits entering the Army possessed a high school diploma. The DOD standard is that at least 90 percent of new recruits should have a high school diploma. The other services met or exceeded the 90 percent goal.

The Army also approved more criminal history waivers than they have in years past. About 15 percent of new recruits required a criminal history waiver.

87 percent of those approved waivers were because of misdemeanor convictions, and the remainder for more serious offenses, including felonies.

The next two years of recruiting will be even more challenging for the Army. Congress has decided to increase the total size of the Army by 74,000 by 2010 — to 547,000 active duty, reservists and National Guard. This will require significantly higher recruiting goals than the 80,000 goal which has challenged the Army for the past two years.

your struggle to communicate the knowledge of a 'psy-ops beaurocracy' is fine.

you are wearing a mask known as 'humanity wins' to bring about this communication however. and thus you are duty bound to show the mask's counter-face. that is the thing about masks or personas, each one has a counter-mask, living in the personage of the mask you decide to wear. if you do not address this, the mask takes hold of you.

What mask? I study what concerns me and share. Period.

be honest with yourself, person wearing the HMW mask, and consider this task:

find a piece of art and swoon over it.

do not bring up a piece of art only as a means to downgrade another piece of art.

just be enthralled with humanity's need to communicate through art...

I'm all for humanizing art. I've found a system of decoys, imposters, covert poison.
So I point at it. Understanding what is suppressed confirms what is HUMANIZING.

You aren't getting that when I point at the militarist shadow it confirms what is light, what power does not want us to have.

I'm confirming exactly what power wants to hide.
I'm confirming exactly how they do it.
I'm confirming how perception, memory, and narrative work and who knows it.

Unfortunately, the CIA knows more about symbols, language, and media than the peace and justice movement because the CIA has been researching and testing for decades and institutionalizing their lessons learned.

The peace and justice movement does not even know that there is a covert Ministry of Culture run by the CIA and their allies to sustain sexism, racism, militarism, confusion, detachment, irrelevancy, etc.

The peace and justice movement still has self-deluding and self-sabotaging myths blocking their effectiveness to counter scientific fascism.

That must change. And understanding what we see and hear is a beginning.

to not acknowledge the presence of the counter-mask is to enter the realm of the fundamentalist, correct?

I'm not a "fundamentalist." I'm just focused and on mission. I've researched to find out what is truthful what is deception. And I stick by what I know.

Not that I'm on their level, but would you call Jesus, Ghandi, and Martin Luther King "fundamentalists" who are "wearing masks" and insist that their view of the world was "dehumanizing?"

Culture war works. Few understand the science. I want to change that.

This is going to sound possibly ridiculous to some, and half baked to others (no pun intended), when I say half baked I mean, the idea not fully formed. But I digress, there is resonance that takes place within the human skull of which I can not recall the name of at the moment, but in music and brain waves of of sound especially Techno, Trance, Industrial, Electronica etc. where with certain repetitive beats, our brains neuropathology's pick up a sound and then the sound or notes can stop but out brain continues to create the sound inside our heads, it's in something to do with mass communication too. But I was wondering if any of you guys recall the soundtrack and emotional music to convey certain ideas for those of you who have seen this picture.

Also, as judasdisney points out, "The film's studious avoidance of any and all possible political resonance, with the noteworthy exception of the overt 9/11 imagery..." reminds me of an article I read, (I forget where) that states that, also the inverse of prop-agenda works almost as powerful as it's opposite. If not more potent.

I mean if hundreds of Industrial and Organizational psychologists are on CIA payrolls and we have an stated agenda by the military-industrial complex (MIC) and the national security apparatus considers it's own citizens to be equal to the agency of the enemy, then I damn well can see them using holywood as their canvas to paint a grim meathook future.

Besides the fact that seeing a movie on the big screen is a quasi off shoot of the ritualistic experience of the Total Institution:

http://www-rcf.usc.edu/~jacobshu/Total% ... avery.html

Keeping the Romans intercontained with Public Blood Baths real and imagined since the 7th century.

Welcome to the future:

Military psychobiology.
http://discovermagazine.com/2007/oct/th ... chnologies

psychobiology[1] is the application of the principles of biology to the study of mental processes and behavior. A psychobiologist, for instance, may compare the imprinting behavior in goslings to the early attachment behavior in human infants and construct theory around these two phenomena.

that should scare the shit out of you. And instead of bashing HMW's in a like clockwork fashion perhaps we should be looking into his ideas a bit more open mindedly. Because, even if what HMW's expresses is wrong, if they could do what he suggest, you can bet they will. If not in form, then certainly in function.

"...[W]hat are we getting for our money? That $75 billion budget covers a vast array of projects, from perfecting new weapon systems like the Joint Strike Fighter plane to studying pure physics. Focusing on the research side of R&D, Discover looked at four key areas where the military is placing its bets: hypersonic vehicles, laser technology, using information technology and neuroscience to combine human and machine on the battlefield, and employing sociology and psychobiology to combat terrorism."

It's the final frontier, your mind. They want into your mind, to control your bodily experiences. Operation Mindfuck 5.0, full spectrum collective controlled dissonance.

Further, I no longer believe that they want these things hidden like they once were, as the psychological impact alone reinforces they're dominance over us. Which in turn reinforces our sense of powerlessness. As a friend wrote,

"Guantanamo Bay, Abu Ghraib, Jose Padilla, ghost detainees, wiretaps, the open secret about US-sponsored torture, et cetera, ad nauseum do not, let me repeat not, represent damage to the political capital of the neocon administration. Those who oppose these things are also cowed by them and those who do not oppose these things revel in the fact that we are doing them. Stories like these hurt the administration not one tiny iota and are carried out and leaked to us with malicious forethought. It simultaneously quells domestic dissent and shores the domestic hawk base. Win/Win if you are a sociopath.

We are shocked by this gross inhumanity because we are supposed to be shocked by it."

Never mind that this psychosis to dominate, control, through shock and awe which is ravaging our planet, and us as a species right along with it, is but a symptom of a deeper problem. C. G. Jung once wrote, “Indeed,it is becoming ever more obvious that it is not famine, not earthquakes, not microbes, not cancer but man himself who is man’s greatest danger to man." George Bush is a mirrored reflection of the part of ourselves that is unconscious and wounded, a unhealed wound that is allowed to remain unhealed. We birthed him. He is us. He is our shadow.

I'm reminded of the terrifying scene in the 1995 movie 'Se7en', a psychodrama, in which the victim is found tied to his bed, emaciated but alive, obviously tortured by the serial killer over a long period of time, perhaps tortured to the brink of death, but not allowed to die. Almost like that of a ritual.

We are indeed, as Jeff's recent blog suggests, A SPECIES GONE MAD. Or on the brink of a breakdown. One that mother's little helpers won't help.

Terrified into submission. Terrified into paralysis. They want what Klein talks of in that, this shock and trauma is methodical and endemic and used to suspend us in liminal ego regression or chronic liminality. Anthropologist Victor Turner, in his work entitled, 'The Ritual Process: Structure and Anti-Structure' speaks of liminality as an ambiguous state of being, "betwixt and between" normal states or conditions (and also between inner desires and social controls). Turner sees liminality present in all sorts of rituals. He stresses that it is an inverse state, or anti-structure: it is the reversal of social norms. For Turner, liminality symbolically represents a period of regression, away from culture (and its ordering of life) toward nature (and its untamed chaos). Liminality, collectively realized, also involves communitas. Communitas is an intense feeling of group unity and solidarity, reinforced and facilitated by collective liminality. That feeling of oneness one sometimes feels for instance say, like at a rave without the hug beans or MDMA ecstasy after dancing oneself into endorphin brain change. However, in this case they want the anti-Communitas the polar opposite, the intense feelings of group powerlessness and individual alienation.

A population of little mini Patty Hearst's. It's all about conditioning and programing. Yet another baby-step towards totalitarianism. Beginning with small rituals of disempowerment, humiliation etc... training us to think they are watching out for us, our saviors, by means of control. For example, recall the Patty Hearst syndrome theory (better known as "Stockholm syndrome ") of falling in love with her captors...; not so subtle mind control, in which one gives up their will as a cost of a form of survival mechanism. At first it's little things like taking off your shoes and increasing restrictions regarding so-called "personal items" at the airport for one small example, incremental often subtle reliquishing of our control in overt and covert micro and macro ways. Under one big panopticon sexual BDSM voyeur prison under the eager protection of the warden watcher, the Gaze of the Magus, the nun raping Negroponte types. So be sure and await the savior democrats, in 09, vote proud and often, your choice of tit clamps and spanking/hot wax or the harder stuff, erotic asphyxia i.e strangulation during sex, nerco sex w/the dead, w/children, bears, or snuff sex, while stuck between a mafia and a cabal. Both ruthless, both dangerous both deadly criminal both soul sick;but if you even suggest this you're called a conspiracy nut. And it's just begining; five years from now, which will be over a decade away from sept 11, another generation will have grown accustom to it. Trading liberty for security, freedom for slavery. Where denial is not only a river in Washington, but the whole of America, a bifurcated herd of lobotomized slaves locked into and inter-locked within a comicbook reality. With both jailer and prisoner in either one of the Arkham Asylum or the Blackgate Penitentiary system by and ever terminally sick overseer warden. 'The Hospital of incurables' as Octavio Paz wrote in 'An Erotic Beyond: Sade'. And the sickest part? You literally paid for it, by topping from the bottom.

And now back to the regularly scheduled program, bashing fellow commenter's!

An amazing comment, Uncle $cam.

I had a similar realization not very long ago and hadn't put it into words yet (or maybe I did somewhere, I honestly can't remember) -- that the whole Abu Ghraib thing, the torture "scandal", Gitmo -- it's all designed, and designed carefully, to horrify us into submission.

I don't know how many times, over the past few years, when I've mentioned to others about the sites that I read, and post on, how many people have said to the affect "aren't you scared of what they might do to you for that?"

It's really pretty easy to manipulate huge crowds of people. We've had several threads here to attest to that -- the Facebook and myspace.com phenomena are a great example. The housing bubble ... and heck, any of the bubbles ... are other examples. It just goes on and on ....

Thanks for the Discover article.

Meaningless.

Remember how in 'Sicko' Michale Moore's most controversial propaganda device was to take firemen who got sick from responding to the Twin Towers on 9/11 to Cuba because they were denied or had no health insurance in the USA?

Remember?

By amazing coincidence, a movie came out about the same time as a comedy about firefighter's pretending to be a gay couple to get...health insurance.

Both 'Sicko' and 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry' were released for video rental on the exact same day. The EXACT SAME DAY.

Yes, to counter Michael Moore's expose of how our '9/11 heroes' were better off in commie Cuba, a counterpropaganda movie was put out that reduced this topic to a 'fag joke' where firemen are deceptive and untrustworthy.

THINK THIS IS A COINCIDENCE? Fuck no.
This is a blatant psy-ops counter-propaganda decoy.
But if you think this is a coincidence, hey - "confirmation bias" right back atcha.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
Starring: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Jessica Biel, Steve Buscemi, Ving Rhames
Directed by: David Dobkin
2007 Universal Pictures

Say it isn't so. Not that Adam Sander as Chuck and Kevin James as Larry
play idiot hetero fireman who fake being gay for health benefits. I mean that Sideways writers Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor actually contributed to a script that trots out every fag joke -- yes, even dropping the soap -- and then tells us how wrong it is to laugh. No comedy this year can beat this dud for mealy-mouthed hypocrisy.

Why would I bother? A simple explanation like the studio cramming a bunch of hot-button political issues of the into an inexpensive and trivial comedy would surely be too pedestrian for your tastes. I've seen neither movie.

haven't seen it. irrelevant to me.

300 btw, was almost exactly like the frank miller comic, and everything in it appears to have come from his warped mind.
be thankful it wasn't quite as tasteless as the book.

Mission Statement

at that link they write, "If properly implemented, the legitimate use of PSYOPS to reduce future high school terrorism would be both appropriate and effective." Benjamin Richardson, from: "The Use of the Psyops Against High School Terrorism"

I suspect if the above is true, if they indeed can, "use of PSYOPS to reduce future... terrorism" then it stands to reason they can also increase it. no?

And wtf is with the semantic use of 'high school terrorism'?

"Think of this new domain as 'applied sociology' or 'cultural engineering.' Neither name is sufficient description to a field that encompasses information theory, general semantics, semiotics, cybernetics, neurolinguistics, statistical theory, advertising/propaganda, conditioning, epistemology, epidemiology, game theory, cognitive psychology, sociology, and evolutionary biology.

High-level officials from many countries met for this conference. They discussed psychological strategies related to government and policymaking. A summary of the agenda reads: "The group will be discussing the essence of future policymaking, for it must be increasingly clear to all that the most effec- tive tool of government and strategy is the mind...

Read up on Mirror neurons, They are a recently discovered class of neurons that seem responsible for social critters internalizing the condition of others. I wonder what mother-infant interactions and micro-second universal non-verbal exchanges and the mirror neurons are fired in such holywood films.

FourthBase, the Russell quote is powerful and your acknowledgement of its ring of truth means that you have internalized it’s message, and as such you are not powerless or helpless against a psy-op.
Congratulations.

Hugh Manatee Wins is a mask. IanEye is a mask. There is a human being named Jose Freitas, who comes to this board and communicates his feelings as . . . . Jose Freitas.

Mr Freitas communicates his feelings about comics quite passionately, and while I may not agree with everything he says, he gets a huge amount of respect from me for coming here unmasked and being himself.

Human wearing the HMW mask, you don’t do this, and neither do I. I don’t think Mr. Freitas is on the level of Jesus, Gandhi, or MLK, but I would put him in their company a lot sooner than I would you or me. The idea that you would try to associate your actions on this board in the company of those individuals says a lot.

Hugh Manatee Wins wrote:You aren't getting that when I point at the militarist shadow it confirms what is light, what power does not want us to have.

That is like saying, “hey, I work out my biceps everyday, this confirms my triceps.” This is true, but it does not mean you are giving your triceps a work out, and when others ask for their turn on the biceps machine, you get really pissy.

I have said it before and I will say it again, you are the guy who comes to the gym everyday and monopolizes two machines, not letting anyone else use them. This annoys people who come to the gym and want to spend a little bit of time on every machine for a well rounded work out, and in the end you are cheating yourself in the bargain.

Hilda Martinez wrote:
IanEye, maybe I'm not getting why you are so upset at Hugh but I don't think he is saying all art is controlled by the CIA or the PTB only the "consumer art," the mass-media-delivered art that is pumped into our homes and theaters and printed on those glossy magazines waiting for bored people to peruse at the checkout stand. The local artist at the Friday night Art Walk in your town is the farthest thing from this. Hugh doesn't really have to address that "counter mask" if he is just talking about the big stuff, does he really?

Elfismiles wrote:Like so many others whose ideas I find fascinating and POSSIBLE yet difficult to prove, I like what Hugh is attempting to analyze even if I can't believe it 100%. As always I'm also interested in what constitutes proof to various people. But I get tired of people who start slinging such emotional meanness - at Hugh and others.

Medicis wrote:All in all, HMW is far more persuasive than his critics if only because he presents interesting analyses, is rarely mean-spirited (at least from my limited reading) vs. the critics who are opposites on both those points.

There is a persona here known as “ThirdArmy” but he openly identifies himself as Gustavo Higuera, and similar to Mr. Freitas, Mr. Higuera has firm positions on the comic book industry. If Mr. Higuera were to come here and offer an intense negative critique of the works of Stephen Bissette, I wouldn’t agree with him, but I would also acknowledge that is is one actual human being offering his assessment of another actual human being. I have more respect for this than for what the mask known as “Hugh Manatee Wins” does.

If the human wearing the “Hugh Manatee Wins” mask came on here and simply gave a negative review of Gilliam’s “Brazil” that would be one thing.

But that is not what the human wearing the “Hugh Manatee Wins” mask does.

Hugh Manatee Wins comes here and places Terry Gilliam directly in the company of James Jesus Angleton and the Dulles Brothers.

If Freitas or Higuera came here and did that I would strongly disagree with them, but I would respect the fact that they came her unmasked to make their denunciations of another human being.
When Hugh Manatee Wins comes here and lumps an artist like Gilliam in with actual figures in the CIA like Angleton, HMW is lowering Gilliam to a position that I feel he does not deserve to be placed, and I will not hesitate to call him out for this and I will feel no need to pay the masked man any respect when I do.

I recognize that I am wearing a mask at the same time. One mask treating another mask with disrespect is simply not the same as someone coming on here wearing a mask and trashing the reputation of an actual human being. These back and forths can be charted on a timeline. I submit that if:

1) a masked one comes on here and trashes a real human being – then, in response:
2) a second mask comes on and in harsh words scornfully denounces the first mask’s actions, that is a reaction to the first mask.

I come on here in my IanEye mask and identify Hugh as a coward and a bully. I freely admit it would be a more powerful statement if I unmasked myself first, as Freitas and Higuera have. It is fair to say that by responding to Hugh in a curt fashion, using harsh language, I am sinking to his level. But make no mistake, it is Hugh who is setting the level, and he is doing so with actual human beings lives and careers.

Hugh Manatee Wins is an asshole. Whether or not the human being who wears the mask is also an asshole is another matter. If Hugh pointed out works of art that he enjoys in a positive light as much as he trashes other works of art that would be reflected in his mask. But he doesn’t, and spending all of your time on the adductor machine doesn’t provide your abductors with a workout, and anyone else in the gym can see that. The face of Hugh Manatee Wins is an ugly face, the human behind the mask may be a person with many beautiful traits, but they are blocked by the mask.

I feel no need to defend the persona known as IanEye, because in the full context of my presence here on RI I feel that IE mask is well-rounded, others here at RI can see that I do not treat every mask in the manner I treat the HMW mask.

I tried in a more cordial manner to approach Hugh in the past and say, “hey you sure are good at this psy-ops machine but I think I would like a turn on it” and Hugh wasn’t very generous with the machine.

Hugh Manatee Wins covets the psy-ops machine, it is his baby.

Guess what Hugh? It isn’t. And you do not respond to those who confront you in a civil fashion, so go fuck yourself.

If a reader comes on here and identifies themselves more with a mask wearer than the actual human being that mask wearer is actively trashing, I can do nothing about that. But gentle reader at least acknowledge that human being who wears the IanEye masks treats all of the other masks on an individual basis.

Sunny is a mask, but I do not “sling emotional meaness” at Sunny.

Annie Aronburg is a mask, but I am not “mean-spirited” towards Annie Aronburg.

John E Nemo is a mask and I am occasionally snide to Mr. Nemo.

Seamus OBlimey is a mask and I treat OBlimey as a drunken sod from time to time.

When Hugh comes on here and trashes human beings and places them in the company of scumbags, I do not associate that behavior with the actions of Jesus, Gandhi, or Martin Luther King, who had the strength and courage to communicate their messages unmasked.

I say what is good for the goose is good for the gander and with no hesitation say that the HMW mask’s trashing of artists reminds me of the cowardly dehumanizing behavior of the Klansmen mask.

There you go Hugh, I have just lumped all of your efforts on this board with those of despicable individuals.
