Self-styled JFK love child has a name
Kent Spencer, The Province
Published: Tuesday, February 12, 2008

The man who calls himself JFK's love child goes by the name of Jack Worthington.

According to Province sources, Worthington, who claims to be the illegitimate son of former U.S. president John Fitzgerald Kennedy, "lives on an island" somewhere in B.C.

Over the weekend, a person called "Jack" provided the Globe and Mail with an interview, while requesting his full name not be used.

"Goes by the name of" doesn't mean that's his name. More marketing.

Does it make sense that a guy who doesn't want to be known of... unless DNA confirms his claim and that spook, David Friend, fronts the story....goes to a newspaper for an interview?

No.

"I'm concerned for the safety of my family so I'll splash an interview across the media.
Please leave me alone. Don't notice me. Nothing to see here. Yet."

The 'goes by' name (?) 'Jack Worthington' is not uncommon.

Also a famous name from the famous play, 'The Importance of Being Earnest,' with some interesting traits.
And it fits with the seasonal discrediting of 'Jack' Kennedy for his sexuality.

From an online 2002 review of a production that play with character, "Jack Worthington"-

"Sometimes there are stories that everyone relates to, no matter when the tale originated.

It transcends class, country, culture, and age to find the audience in a place where they can say, “Why do women do that?”
.....
The story is Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest,” which is guaranteed to always strike a nerve one way or the other with any audience.

The late 19th century English farce of mistaken identity and bewildered love is captured in this cozy setting, condensing all this social satire of a changing yet still conventional society in the American town of Marietta.

The story, for those who don’t know, is that of Jack Worthington, a young Englishman living both in London and in the country under two different identities.

In the country he is Jack, responsible and even slightly boring to his ward, a young girl – Cecily – left by her grandfather, Jack’s guardian.

In London he assumes the identity of Earnest, the young scoundrel of a brother that he creates in order to have an excuse when Cecily and her tutor, Miss Prism , question where Jack has been.

goes by the name of Jack Worthington.

Who is ever identified in this manner? The reporter must have been uncertain, ie, he did not do any independant checking. Who told him the name? And why run with the story at all if the man is not positively identified? We have no idea who this "Jack Worthington" person is-what does he do, where is he from, who is his family?

The Province

FWIW
The Province is the tabloid-y provincial (in both meanings) newspaper; big on gangland murders, malformed infants, hockey and curling satistics.

there's a picture now--

Here's the link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080213.wjack13/BNStory/National/home

and (drumroll please) now for [the photo of] the man himself:

Gotta say, for something that's been 18 months in the making, this story seems to be developing quickly.

If it's following some planned roll-out scenario that gives it a different 'feel' than if it's just massive, intense interest in a JFK 'heir'/legacy--a continuation of the JFK story?--that, like a force of nature, is drawing out further info.

Wow, he does look like Jack. You have to wonder if the mother could have been a mistress of LBJ.

Is that photo contrived enough for you?

The upshot, the window framing White House like, the half lighting across the face...

This is SHOW BIZ.
No, he doesn't even look like JFK as if even that meant a thing.
It doesn't.

This guy looks like a thinner John Goodman to me. Stop the presses!

Aw, come on, Annie. The day after the video emerged of Robert Dziekanski being tasered to death, the Province ran three articles and one editorial defending the actions of the RCMP (and one 25 word letter against).

So, it's not like the Province can't get behind a cause when it needs to.

But back on topic, sure the guy looks a little like JFK, but he also looks kind of like my dad, and... oh, it looks like HMW beat me to the punch. That's quite the photo. Who took it? Annie Leibovitz??

Is it too inappropriate to make a joke about head shots?

Having seen -- nay, inspected -- JFK's face thousands upon thousands of times in my life, my first impression is that the dude is absolutely 100% JFK's kid.

I agree about the photo being hokey.

But of course the real test is not how he looks--we need to find his old wet nurse and ask her to tell the story--the WHOLE story of how he was found. (You know, when the shepherds brought him in on that stormy night?)

Then there's the birth mark test too. That oughta cinch the deal. A purple raspberry.

Or is this where the iron mask story kicks in? :?

(am I forgetting anything?)

(on edit: sorry, but the hokey picture put me in the mood to mock this.)

I could find three men in my town of 5,000 who look more like JFK than that cracker.

No, I don't think you could.

I expect it will really sink in when there's a pic of him smiling.
