I'd be more impressed if it wasn't all tied in with Cayce and prophecies and omens and such. Do you have anything about this wobble and anomalies in it from a more scientific perspective?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandler_wobble

if you look at the fullsize graphic for the wobble on the .mil site linked to from wikipedia and from the site floyd posted you will see that it is not actually at 0 at all,the smaller image on the site floyd posted doesnt show the numbers in the scale so one cant judge much from that..
on the fullsize graphic it is only the X axis that is near 0, and near 0 is not 0,also on the fullsize graphic you can clearly see that both the X and Y axis are still changing with time.
the official graphic could be doctored but that is another story..
that said i am all for wobble preparedness as that is one concept that has scared me since childhood when i first heard of the possible ramifications of changes in the earths rotation

Quote:
During the first hour of the national radio broadcast of Coast to Coast AM on January 28, 2006, Lloyd Stewart Carpenter reported that the Chandler wobble has stopped (i.e., its amplitude has reduced to zero) -- which could be a harbinger of a catastrophic pole shift. This is however completely unfounded speculation as the actual recorded data shows no indication that the wobble has stopped, or shows any signs of stopping. If it did stop for any length of time this would be of great interest in gaining a better understanding the causes, but would not cause any catastrophic changes in the overall rotation axis of the planet.

ouch!

No matter its inherent virtues, the term "wobble preparedness" has got to be the most likely candidate for the "giggle factor" response I've heard in a long time. I'd suggest that this is not the best term to use if publicizing it...

"The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling"........

Postby Floyd Smoots » Mon Feb 13, 2006 12:13 am

Honestly, R.I.'ers, I didn't mean to be "Chicken Little" here, I just thought, halfway thru the linked post, that something smelled funny. Having now read the whole post, I am inclined to agree with starroute. I have long ago decided to take Edgar Cayce's "prophecies" with a whole, giant, economy sized, fifty pound BAG of salt. I, in my admitted fundamentalist (NOT Neocon) Christian worldview, long ago consigned old Edgar to the "influenced-by-demons" place in my thinking.

You know, disinfo of the Highest (or lowest) order. Don't forget that I am of the persuasion that GOD RULES, & satan drools. I have to ask you, hmm, why you think you have had nightmares about changes in the planet's rotation. I, personally, used to have nightmares about Armageddon.

Once, I dreamed, when I was about thirty years younger, that angels from Heaven had come down and told all of us who owned guns, to give them up to the angels. Right after I surrendered my personal firearm to them, I found myself on a rooftop that was being assaulted by demonic zombies. I had no defense, and, in the dream, no hope of survival. Dreams are wierd, and, in the end, as long as we're only mortally alive, there is no accounting for them.

You may try to interpret my dream as a lack of faith, but I prefer to interpret it as a message to not put my faith in firearms, but only in God Almighty. But, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Darklo, I also tend to agree with you that a change in the planetary wobble would not cause major changes in climatology, ecology, viability of life, etc. IMHO, as an avowed Christian, I just kind of look back to that old book, the Holy Bible, where it's posted that at the End of the Age, there will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars. While many of you are looking "inward", I will still be looking "upward".

Avalon, see hmm's comment. I know it sounds funny, but I agree that when it comes to "wobble preparedness', that there is probably nothing to worry about.

Verinoid Floyd

As an atheist I find the whole end of days thing a bit odd really. Thats not an insult to anyone with faith, just a statement of fact.

I worry that because so many people believe in the end of days that they are sitting around waiting for it. And when something comes along like WWIII or Bird Flu or Global Warming, because its part of a divine plan the religious community just sit and watch the show.
