Pegasus spent her earlier life patrolling the edges of Colonial space under Commander Cain. Cain was a renowned Colonial warrior and was often referred to as "the living legend".

And "Caine" is quite obviously a nod to The Caine Mutiny, which in turn is a nod to the biblical Cain. Which undoubtedly fits in some way with your convoluted "keyword hijacking" über-conspiracy.

Partly right about division and mutiny.

But I was following upthread discussion of John McCain. Heard of him?
How'd ya miss that entirely?

Military science fiction is a useful vehicle for reframing military history for the kidz.

In 1978 (context) "Cain the renowned warrior" serves as both living McCains, Admiral McCain (featured on Bob Hope's 1969 Christmas Special) and his POW son (representing "their all back and fine"), and perhaps, displacement of the Great Vietnam Mutiny since in 1978 the US military was recovering from the mutiny of its own soldiers, fragging officers, desertion, etc.

After Ike freaked out the masses by warning against the 'military-industrial complex' in January '61 plus French generals trying to off Charles de Gaulle and US generals saying JFK deserved the same, there was an effort made to provide airing and catharsis for this fear with 1962 Senate hearings (I have the transcripts) and for the masses a market hyping of Marlon Brando in 'Mutiny on the Bounty' with big (USG) National Geographic tie-in and a record box set with glossy book included.
Nice native women and manly men.

That was the context of 1962.

Militarist entertainment was (is) used to remilitarize the next generation of recruits without the viruses of Vietnam Syndrome or Korean complicits or...

Covert displacement for catharis and conditioning, not "art."

:threadhijacked: By all of this BSG talk. I thought this was about the Dollhouse. Which, by the way, is terrible.

no, beeline my friend, this thread wasn't 'hijacked'

no one has wandered too far off the topic of Hip MKULTRA-style psyops. we talked about TARA and Firefly as well (River, remember, was a weapon). BSG fits in perfectly with our discussion.

I'd like to see Dollhouse back, too.
The discussion went to how fiction is related to reality in BSG.

Okey dokey.

I don't have cable, so I am out of the BSG loop.

I've been a fan of Eliza Dushku since she played faith on Buffy.

I will continue to monitor Dollhouse in light of Mr. Manatee's ongoing "covert displacement for catharis and conditioning, not 'art.'" theme.

Dollhouse is art inasmuch The Dukes of Hazzard was art.

Really. It was that bad.

Terminator was good though.

Dollhouse

Postby marmot » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:00 pm

Ok then, from beeline's neck of the woods: blog.phillyburbs.com

Dollhouse premiere episode 'Ghost' reaches #1 download on iTunes

The premiere episode of Dollhouse, starring Eliza Dushku, was the #1 downloaded TV show on iTunes on Monday, according to tvbythenumbers.com.

That’s an impressive feat considering the fact that the show is available to view for free at hulu.com and fox.com.

Plus the fact that one could have DVR’d the show, downloaded a torrent or grabbed it from usenet.

I wonder if Dollhouse is out on Pira...Umm...yet.
Profpan: Okies, so we can agree on disagreeing then... :) Good to know your teeth aint in need of replacement due to me.

Those "available for free" things usually mean you have to jack up a proxy server in USA since those bastards consider Internet to have country borders as well. Pricks. Lets see.

(This "campaign" a "official participation drama" is really strange on a lot of levels. I tried to post some pictures of the Hazel character trapped but was unable to do so. I only watched a snippet of one video but it was more anxiety producing then a rescue the princess enforcer. I can't see someone spending their free time doing this for entertainment, it has all the icky feel of a real life Sims.)

Fox Dollhouse viral campaign: SAVE HAZEL!
http://www.activedollhouse.com/save-haz ... -campaign/

February 13 2009

Fox launched a new viral marketing campaign on its Dollhouse website. (Link at bottom) The campaign asks you to “Save Hazel,” a character who is trapped in the Dollhouse in real-time.

When you click on the “Save Hazel” link, a new website pops up. The website looks like a video surveillance feed that shows a woman entering a small room. The woman turns on the light and looks at a computer. All of a sudden, the room closes and locks her in.

She’s trapped and can’t get out.

Then she yells that the structure is moving, approaches the camera and begs for you to help her.

Will you be able to save Hazel?

I tried as best I could, but I admit I am not very good at figuring out the answers to viral marketing campaigns. I’m sure it has something to do with the name of the facility, titled — MNEMA R PRIME LAB, but I have yet to figure out what the connection is. If Hazel is counting on me, looks like she’s screwed.

http://rprimelab.com/

Welcome Dollplay!
Welcome to the official participation drama for Dollhouse!

This is where you jump in headfirst and wreak creative havoc in the story. At R Prime Lab you watch and communicate directly with a girl called Hazel. There are no cheap tricks, we shoot every night in direct response to your videos. It is up to you how the situation develops for her. The only rule is to pretend it is real. Think Wrestling, but with mind fracks instead of head butts.

Beyond this point the world of Dollhouse is real!

Note for experienced players:
Unlike other Alternate Reality Games, all the clues you need to solve the mystery are on this page or in the interaction with Hazel. Google-fu can be used to solve riddles or get the real-world references in the drama, but don't expect hidden webpages or clues embedded in the HTML code.

Not diabolical, but everyday. Its also a product of your culture.
Which alone makes it bad, Im sorry to say. You really do think of your American culture too highly. That might be the basic fault here.

Fanboi....Sheesh.

Maybe you should also look at why you are who you are.

Hazel was the name of a woman mercilessly harassed by the FBI.
http://www.simegen.com/writers/lois/commie.htm
Thanks to Mr. Double-Six's reports, J. Edgar Hoover wrote a letter, dated Oct. 7, 1948, calling Hazel, "one of those subjects who are considered a threat to the internal security" and asking the Lansing FBI office for a current report on her activities. The file also records FBI attempts to have Hazel fired from her job at the Michigan Department of Motor Vehicles and a successful effort that prevented her being hired as a librarian in Detroit. Thanks to Mr. Double-Six's reports, the FBI kept their file on Hazel open through the 1960s, logging her every move, every new job, every hospitalization, and her divorce in which she gained custody of my husband, who was then in his teens.

Thanks to Mr. Double-Six's reports, agents harassed Hazel on her way home from work and as she walked in her neighborhood.

So this disgusting marketing campaign is three-fold:

1) Inoculation against the above FBI abuses.

2) For males - the pornography of surveillance culture

3) For females - the claustrophobia of home as reason to sign up with
mil-intel which is recruiting heavily for female analysts since their brains are better wired then men.

Ghost

Postby marmot » Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:46 pm

Okey dokey, I just watched the pilot:

http://www.hulu.com/watch/57885/dollhouse-ghost

It was a little cheesy, somewhat engaging, premise slightly absurd, but for the suspension of disbelief and a pretty actress I was able to watch the whole first episode. Dollhouse just might have a life.

O yeah! And there was a whac-a-mole arcade game in the Dollhouse lab.

That's the latest science using MRIs and CAT scans.
Women's brains are wired differently from men, more linking between the left and right hemispheres and more mirror neurons.

The campaign to recruit women into spook world is intense for this reason besides looking for honeypots.

But social engineering for cohesion around male authority has been a psyops anchor since CIA was formed so negative framing of women like 'USA of Tara' has to continue, a two-track approach-
> appeal to women to join warrior culture
> diss women to men.
