I'm falling for c2w all over again with that post. I simply adore a women who is capable of feeling in love with herself. It is oh so not fun to be with a woman who loathes herself.

I'm not a metrosexual, peregrine. More like a traditional skinhead (but sensitive and with hair) who's confident enough in his opposing chromosomes to protect his skin with Coconut Skin Trip. Mostly I'm an engine of paradox, or so I like to think.

I also hate myself, though. I'm really the only person in the world that I do hate, in fact. Therefore, as a matter of inner emotional balance, I pretty much have to hate myself passionately and with a pure, fiercely concentrated and totally unmitigated contempt. I swear, if I had it in me to kill, I could just fucking kill me sometimes, I hate me that much. It's a good thing I love my clothes too much to just leave them hanging in the closet all mute and bewildered and so alone that there wouldn't be a soul in the world to whom they could turn when they ended up being trafficked and abused and pawed over by strangers at the Good Will or somewhere like that after I was gone, the poor uncomprehending things. They've led a very sheltered life, I just couldn't do that to them.

And more about you later. Because writing up these non-picture portraits is difficult work, I'm finding.

I have decided c2w is my kind of spooky mirror twin. Or something.

Been thinking though about what Alice said and about this X-Files episode called Kill Switch in which a couple want to merge with each other, actually upload themselves into this program they created. I mean leave their physical bodies and merge minds (hearts, souls?) into cyberspace.

Anyway was thinking about the net and thinking that in some ways it is lovely that people in many cases have no clue about the physicality of others and that it provides an opportunity to focus on the non-physical aspects of another's essence..

I know there have been famous personages, though I can't think of who they are now who had these long-suffering, long distance correspondences and never even met one another in RL.

Just saying.

I hate when people say, "Oh, its just the internet. They're not real people. How can you have any feeling towards a computer?" That kind of attitude. Really depersonalizing something that is, by nature, impersonal. I don't like to be thought of as "not a real person", so I'm sure others don't either. And I certainly can have feelings towards people I have "spoken" to, internet or otherwise. Matter of fact, I kind of prefer it just for the exact reason you stated, Alaya.

Well, the weird thing about internet dating is exactly that. I met my wife on the internet, but before I did, I had a few interactions going with some women where things seemed to be working quite well through the blind words-only world of the internet, but as soon as we saw each other, well, it as a different story. The opposite can be true, too, I suppose.

What was weird back then is that people weren't automatically putting their photos up in their ads. So you'd start talking with someone, seem to be getting along, then you'd exchange photos and half the time that just killed it right there, for at least one party, sometimes both! Then it's "aaaawkward" if someone wants to keep it going. Usually the party who went "ugh" would just suddenly vanish. I had one woman tell me I just wasn't her type. This was actually kind of humiliating, because, honestly, this doesn't happen in real life. In real life, all the initial signals are visible, physical, and non-verbal. So usually, once you get the signals and are chatting up someone, you're already past the physical/looks hurdle. I found it oddly demoralizing and it made me extremely self conscious for a time. Then I met my wife and I never had to do it again. :)

I find with the whole dating on the 'net that people tend to have unreasonable expectations, especially when it comes to physical appearance. And I do find it unfortunate. I've a few times placed or responded to ads & it isn't always what you expect, but then I never did like endless emails, I much prefer face to face over a pint.

And although it definitely helps to be attracted to someone physically, what goes on in your head is what gets me.

If you can stimulate me mentaly & the conversation is good, whether in email or face to face, hey, I'm gonna want more.

Yeah, I've had moments where I've exchanged pleasantries with a fellow & as soon as I sent some pics, I never heard from him. Kinda left me feeling like "wtf dude?! I think I'm pretty damn cute!" But hey, different strokes for different folks, so I don't take it personal.

And you meeting your wife through the net does show that it does work, it just requires patience. I worked with a fellow that met his lady through an on line dating site.

And lbo...

Never thought you to be totally metero & conceited at all, but the type to take a look or two in the mirror before proceeding. Heh, I need to look up the definition again...

I sorta pictured you kinda looking like a real life version of this:

I know, but it's the bike...
And I like anime...

Yeah, doing the online thing made me realize how much of a "numbers game" it is. You just have to go through a lot of different people and hope you get lucky.

But like Tom Waits said "Fishing for a good time starts with throwing in your line".

I've never dated anyone i've met online before. And I've only ever had sex with them on accident.

Sex by accident? Like, what, you're playing naked Twister and somebody slips and lo and behind it just "happens?"

"Oops, I think my penis just slid into your vagina. So sorry".

i meant that it was unplanned. i've met a lot of online people in teh real world. the sort of accident you're describing only happens in porn.

mine usually involve drugs.

(or demonic possession)

but i've never met a persona with intent to do terrible things to them. *** hell, last time it happened i had thought she was a dude until i got to the bar.

[not that this would've mattered except in the sense of the amount of drugs it would require]

*** except Jeff Wells, but he didn't pick up on my subtle attempts to seduce him.
