The Antics of Alex Jones

As most of you know, despite my recognizing of Alex Jones' faults and foibles, despite hearing horror stories from folks behind-the-scenes here in Austin, I've been willing to stand up for him when folks start AJ-bashing.

No more! I might be willing to say a word or two now and again along the lines of so many other Alex Jones Apologists such as "he used to do good local activist work," "he woke me up to the Tyranny," etc.

But this most recent incident has finally convinced me that I will do nothing more to promote his work. I know this point came a long time ago for many folks and I know that some folks never could stand listening to him. I do think his documentaries have gotten better and better but this Monday incident has been the final straw for me.

I'm finally taking that damn INFOWARS.COM sticker off of my bumper. Tried to take it off this morning but it's gonna take more effort to remove than I anticipated.

Ugh; Can't hardly stand it --hearing Alex with his amplified bullhorn blathering in his distinctively-annoying voice in the background drowning -out the speakers at the pro-gun ralley, and then slamming Carolyn when she asked why he was being so disruptive, who had busted her ass helping to set the whole thing up, telling her its all about Free Speech and she doesn't know what she's doing, HE was instrumental in getting so-and-so there and advertising the event, etc.

Alex seems to have developed a cultish fad in which his central message is himself.

An utterly disgusting, boorish and bullying spectacle. What regard I once had and what little respect remained for him has pretty much evaporated. I really don't know if his 'job' is to keep an organized public resistance to fascism fractured and impotent.

I started out to write an article about an ominous attack on Second Amendment rights which took place here in Austin recently, but on viewing videos of the subsequent protest at city hall as part of my research I got sidetracked with more overwhelming evidence that Alex Jones is a narcissistic douchebag and really no friend of liberty, facts which I have observed before but which just become clearer with each new incident.

Earnest and passionate local advocates for individual liberty led by John Bush of Texans for Accountable Government organized a peaceful protest rally on Monday afternoon in opposition to the Austin Police Department's involvement with the BATF in attempts to illegally shut down private gun sales at gun shows in Austin. They had a good turnout and a schedule of speakers including Darwin Bedecker, who was the most recent target of this persecution campaign, and notable local liberty advocates like Jerri Lynn Ward and Catherine Bleish. It was organized on short notice, but it was a well-planned and effective rally presenting a legitimate grievance to the city government with a permit and everything.

Then, in the middle of it all, Alex Jones shows up with a bullhorn and what can only be described as a gang of thugs, and proceeds to disrupt the entire rally, shouting over the speakers, shutting down the program, and ultimately driving off most of the participants with his obnoxious antics. Not only that, but Jones was rude to everyone, including those who tried to invite him to become a program participant, called Catherine Bleish a "cointelpro" agent provocateur and ranted on and on about the NWO and various issues completely unrelated to the purpose of the protest, while surrounded by his personal videographers and thuglike followers.

Apparently Jones is incapable of allowing a protest to go on where he isn't the center of attention, and in order to get that attention he is willing to undermine the effectiveness of the protest, offend potential sympathizers and generally behave like a penis with legs. It's not surprising that by the end of the event people were accusing Jones of working for the statists to discredit legitimate protesters, and a lot of people came away from the event cured of any prior attraction to Jones' particular brand of anti-government paranoia. As I've said before, Jones is his own worst enemy and he lost a lot of supporters Monday because of his boorish behavior and an attitude which was widely described as "divisive."
Jones clearly has Narcissistic Personality Disorder and has all the earmarks of a little Hitler in the making and that type doesn't like to be left on the sidelines. He has the "rule or ruin" attitude where if he's not in charge and doesn't have all eyes focused on him then he will cause chaos and destruction and to hell with everyone else and the important issue which they may have been protesting. For Jones the cause of liberty and the truth are secondary. His goal is self-promotion and probably personal profit as well. Jones can't just cover a story or add his voice to protesting an issue, because he has to be the story and he has to define the protest or it is of no value to him.

The alter ego of Alex Jones got the better of him today in Austin. Two minutes into an organized rally at the steps of the Austin Police Department, Alex shows up and immediately starts bullhorning over the speech of local patriot, John Bush. Even after being told that he was talking over the speakers, he just kept going. He will no doubt be accused of being a provacateur after this bizarre exhibition. I don't know if the video will capture what it felt like there, but trust me, it was wierd. He split the rally into two groups, 80% original rally people and about 20% Alex people. I have been a fan of Alex for a long time, but this day has got me wondering, WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING ?

This video is not a big deal. I am not trying to cause infighting. I like Alex, he is a good guy. This is just him trying to take over a rally that others actually organized. He was invited to come up and speak, but declined. He was told that he was stepping all over the other speakers, but kept going. He was getting so close that they actually moved the rally in order to be heard over his bullhorn. He even went off about 12 feet from Darwin Boedecker, who was on his show that day. So before you accuse me of being cointellpro, or whatever the fuck. I am just reporting what happened. Maybe if you watch all the videos from the rally, it will become clearer. So please, try not to get your panties in a wad over this. i appreciate the work you have done Alex, but show some respect to your peers.

BTC-Alex Jones evolved to become the name to both support and then to discredit the 911 truth movement. He's come full circle as a provacateur. My worst notions about controlled opposition and Alex Jones are now confirmed.

Like many pro wrestlers, I guess Alex just went "bad." Happens even to long-term "good" ones - like Hulk Hogan, even babyface Bob Backlund and Andre the Giant went "bad" in the end. When it happens to one who had previously always been "good," it's usually an indication that one's career is in its late stages. A possible consolation, in this case.

Sorry if I come across as a smart ass, but why didn't you guys have this figured out back in Y2K? Jones was always show business. His exploitation of a few good causes (alongside the fact-free scaremongering) was always opportunist, or incidental. The 9/11 truth "movement" ended with the fatal error of allying with him, back at the Chicago conference in 2006. After that his fanboys and mini-Me's, like Rudkowski, took over with their self-heroizing postures and nationalist hooey. WeAreChange.org is a teabagger site, in case you haven't noticed.

Well, attempting to be "literary" and "explorative" in my terms used, I was just saying it looks a hell of a lot like when some guy is in the ring on a WWE episode and then some other guy and his posse comes strolling out of some tunnel in the arena. Then mayhem ensues and the crowd loves it, even though it is fake. Usually an argument ensues and then they challenge one another to a future date.

Yeah, you are.I don't recall any unequivocal cheerleading for Jones here, or even on those other forums seeing people seeking "consolation". I'm sure there are exceptions. Really what you describe as the trajectory of a career in this kind of business is actually credible, much more than people just being born bad.

I see them resigning from CFL for that ad they ran, and from what I'm reading Jones has jumped the shark a while back.
