And the thing is, psynapz: he said that to the doctors, who were - quite rationally - trying to find a reason why she was mad, i.e., mad at her father, whom she kept shouting at, running away from, and hitting or biting when she couldn't escape. So they asked him if she'd ever been physically abused.

And because he lied to those doctors, they finally gave up looking for any serious cause of her behaviour and instead signed off on the junk-diagnosis "schizophrenia". Which allowed M. Schofield to hospitalize the kid and have her drugged senseless with the insurance company's blessing and the insurance company's money. Because Schizophrenia counts as a disease (to be treated with drugs), whereas Being Hit, Dragged, Knelt On, Terrorised, Ordered Around And Pestered To Distraction By Your Dad does not.

Which gave him the time and leisure to start his book and his blog. And now he's on Oprah and 20/20 and dealing with fanmail and soliciting donations.

well, the LA fish-wrapper caught it, and it's from their site, not his. aww, I feel bad now for drawing attention to it, but dang, he looks like a nasty little troll with greedy eyes. Saying I think so doesn't help anyone though. and yes, it's probably just the lighting... and of course it's not fair to type people based on appearance, still, sometimes it's all there is to go on.

yes, for someone from his walk of life, hitting the wife should be a rather rare thing. but then so is attempted suicide.

Perhaps. Demographics aside, more domestic violence is hidden in more educated and upper class families. I know. I came from one of them, and was surrounded by them.

That's a very good point. I suppose I took his attitude as a part of his "superiority" "entitlement" thing he has going on with his narcissistic attitude. I suppose that says a lot about me that I'm so used to narcissists that I take their sucky attitudes for granted. >.<

It's just that it can't be googled. It's disappeared from Google, or at least from the first page of returns. As I say, the old title, when entered as a Google search-term, now takes you straight to the new ("edited") website, which is only a few pages long and has no commenting-function.

How can that have happened? Could M. Schofield or his sidekicks have engineered it? Can anyone computer-literate enlighten me?

Col. Quisp, I didn't see either broadcast, did the younger son present signs of schizophrenia?

I remember this thread from a few years back, and the heated blogs that sprang up because of the subject, and I have been reading up on schizophrenia tonight. schizophrenia.com has been particularly helpful...which is why I am curious if the younger son is actually displaying symptoms, because the odds of two children afflicted with the disease at that young of an age, and diagnosed at that age are astronomically low.
