Further, if hardball is what you all want it is what you will get. I have never been one to shy away from a bloody fight.

Ever hear of "megaphone?" Perhaps soon should I decide to make that move you will meet some of my real zionist friends and oh do they love a good debate with internet antisemitic goon squads.

Let the games resume!

What a surprise.

No the real surprise is that you had to be the one to rub my nose in the fact that I simply changed my mind after realizing I had made a promise to searcher. Never pass up an opportunity to be an asshole do you?

But you made such a big deal of it, Percival.

I mean, you made your own thread to announce your imminent departure and all — it was like watching the end of Casablanca.

(Well, not really.)

Maybe you can have your hardcore friends rappel in and ban everyone in self-defense.

You're a funny guy, Percy, but I think you just threatened the forum, and I roll up the welcome mat to anyone who would do that.

I'm a little late here I know, but I mean, wait late... late, who's late? In case you feel like rolling that out again, I just want this on record. When the topic was the Franklin case, Percy claimed to have a close female friend who was an ra survivor. Now he claims to have worked in Israel. Uh-huh.

Right at the height of the Franklin reemergence, Percy, in reaction to the fairly unassailable treatment by one Nick Bryant tried to debunk the case. He might have made good work of it if it weren't almost immediately apparent that Percy the "journalist", hadn't actually read the book. When he was called out over this, the level of his resentment and indignation could not be gaged (it appeared high).

It persisted and reared up in post after post in various topics in the form of general RI board put-downs. Eventually he, what did you call them Jeff?... launched a few meta-threads, such as the locked one today, some of the most vitriolic during the height of the ARGer attack over the holidays. Lovely.

Yeah, "Good 'ole Percy", will you guys please pay... or devise some way of paying meta-attention? It might be a more serious subtle provocateur or something next time.

Heed these words! :microphone:

Not kidding. I wrote barracuda the other day, "If there's any comedy in a burning house, the Percival's not a troll but breezes is contention is getting hilarious."

I don't know what Percival, or the person or persons animating the fiction called Percival, actually believes, but I'm certain now that it's irrelevent. The point of Percival was ingratiation, confusion and rancour. That's a troll.

One further thing. I hope this board appeals to people with many interests, not all of them deadly serious. People who want to be a part of the community should hitch up their nag and visit our stable of hobby horses.

Actually, both of them (Percy and 17) are annoying. I hate the idea of banning, because that is an ultimately fascist solution, even if on a small scale, and it carries its own bad karma with downstream consequences. But I am very much in favor of community self-regulation. I would actually prefer it if people on this board make a conscious choice to shun obvious trolls, rather than call (either implicitly or explicitly) for bans. That is just my personal aesthetic, sorry.

Though I think sincerity is an overvalued virtue, annoying sincerity is preferable to insincere shitstirring.

Hmmm...now that you mention it, he also said he played golf with Tiger Woods when he was a teen. Guy sure did get around, huh? Quite a globetrotter.

Perhaps. But if sincerity is overvalued and sometimes annoying, it is in everybody's interest to ignore such instances and not reward bad behavior with additional attention.

As for insincere shit-stirring... I don't know. If everybody had good emotional self-discipline, shit-stirring would be impossible. But we don't live in an ideal world, and I am hardly one to throw stones re: emotional self-regulation.
