Suggest books for me.

Postby Stephen Morgan » Mon Jun 28, 2010 4:22 pm

I've run out of books to read, so I'd like suggestions.

Preferably non-fiction, bonus points if it involves Belgian paedophiles, use of Yamashita's gold for terrorism, involvement of Russian oligarchs in the drug trade, Afghan paedophilia, continuation of ancient cults into the modern world, MILABS, Graeco-Bactrians, HSBC and company's role in the drug trade, elite deviance, zombification or any of my related interests.

Maybe that should go into the "best quotes of 2010" thread.

www.amazon.co.uk

This collection of the decade's "best-of" from the online journal, Intelligence, offers a shocking glimpse into the frequently illicit and routinely immoral undertakings of states, whose harm to individuals, groups and countries is seldom recognized or understood by the public at large.

Fifteen thoroughly researched and documented chapters probe the clandestine workings of the world’s intelligence servicesfrom the CIA and the FBI in the US, MI5 and MI6 in Britain, the DGSE and DST in France, the Sûreté d'Etat in Belgium, all the way to the DINA in Chile and its ties with both the CIA and with the international "Black Orchestra" and its neo-Fascist assassins in Italy and Portugal.

Who would have thought that Western intelligence would use the wildlife conservation movement in Africa to secretly back right-wing rebel groups? That peaceful Norway would be a veiled contributor furthering the expansion abroad of "Star Wars"? That environmentalist activists might be the targets of FBI COINTELPRO, resurrected?

From the trumped-up proof of Libyan implication in the Lockerbie Pan Am bombing, and the bungled military operation behind Bloody Sunday to the improbable sinking of the Kursk off the Russian coast, intelligence services manipulate and shape major world events in a manner not readily visible even to knowledgeable followers of world events.

Careful surveillance and analysis of open source informationmedia, books, technical literature, patentsby the French Association for the Right to Information (ADI) and its Franco-American editor, Olivier Schmidt, permit the non-specialist to read about and understand these secrets and the scandals they cause when exposed to light at last.

The book touches on human-trafficking/pedophile rings , among other similar topics; below's an excerpt of a comment from the above Amazon link; the book could have used a solid editor as it is clear in some spots that the book was 'edited' by the author himself, but he covers many bases that touch on some of the topics you ID'd in your OP:

"... i'm dutch and live close to the Belgian border. All this made me follow the whole Dutroux case (the case Mcgowan starts with) quite intense, long before I ever heard of Dave McGowan. I was surprised by Dave's knowledge about this particular case....For me, the book was very impressive, and Dave is one of my favourite internet-sources nowadays."

Some more about Dutroux, a topic covered in some depth within this forum [though I presume you may already be well-versed in this topic, considering your interests]:

I'm not going for the bonus points, but here's the first two off the top of my head which you might enjoy.

Meh.

Belligerent Savant: Got that one. Read it, kept it. Very good. Fun for all the family.

barry cuda: Don't really like fiction. A bit of Robert Rankin, maybe. John Buchan. Not much.

Cosmic Cowbell: Got that one. Signed by the author, too. Thanking me for my contributions to the forum, too. Actually, now I think about it, I believe I gave that one away, but I have read it.

Project Willow: Not really something I'm interested in.

Forget it, I've found some books of my hard drive. Facts and Fascism by Seldes, The Catholic Orangemen of Togo, a couple of others.

Didion's Miami is non-fiction actually, but I'd advise against investigating it any further than you already have. I don't think you'd really like it. Which, to be perfectly honest with you, was why I suggested both books. And as long as I'm here, I'll take this opportunity to voice a hale and hearty "you're welcome!" on behalf of the gang.

These have all been mentioned on RI before, but just to add my voice to the choir:

Crossing the Rubicon by Mike Ruppert
The War on Truth by Nafeez Ahmed
The Franklin Scandal by Nick Bryant
A Terrible Mistake by Hank Albarelli
UFOs and the National Security State by Richard Dolan
JFK and the Unspeakable by James Douglass

and I also enjoyed
Shadows of Tender Fury by Subcommandante Marcos

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

No doubt inadvertantly you've reminded me that I could buy some antifeminist books. Warren Farrell, maybe. Got a few already. The two Hoff-Summers books, The Myth of the Monstrous Male and other Feminist Fables by someone or other. Professing Feminism. The Manipulated Man. Could get that Eller book.

Got the Ruppert and Bryant books. Don't like that Nafeez, very difficult to read. I was thinking about the Dolan book, but it seems a bit nuts. And bolts, you know. Not esoteric enough for my modern tastes.
