You guys believe me, right? I got used. Used!

I feel so cheap.

Well that's just dismaying. I was hoping the song was also a fuck you to radio, but I was played for a chump. It's still the best soul song I've heard since the death of soul music, so I'll heal.

Meantime, there's Belarusian agit-pop to help me through the night.

Simon and Garfunkel Greatest Hits, #293 on the Rolling Stone list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time
The real issue is that there is extremely low likelihood that the speculations of the untrained, on a topic almost pathologically riddled by dynamic considerations and feedback effects, will offer anything new.

You know what it means to know there's at least one person out there who won't hold me in contempt for totally loving something like this, right?

How could I forget a blue soprano!
I don’t remember much about the film except its use of
special effects, and the aria from opera Lucia di Lammermoor.
I was for a while artistically captivated.

The Fifth Element | Music Video | 1997
    RyoDrake Productions

Okay. So here are some interesting tips about this music vid. Albanian soprano, Inva Mula-Tchako, was actually the singer, and Plavalaguna, the blue soprano, was French actress, Maïwenn Le Besco. At the start, Plavalaguna sings some of the lyrics (below) from composer Donizetti’s libretto that includes a mad scene, meaning the aria in the scene shows the character is overwrought, anguished, anxious, etc.: the aria, Il dolce suono from the tragic opera Lucia di Lammermoor premiered in Naples, Italy, 1835.

Anyway, when the music in the video switches from classical to an upbeat, if you will, neoclassical style, Plavalaguna begins that part of the mad scene in which the soprano is given musical lines to show off her vocal skills. And, that angst shows up in Plavalaguna’s vocal portrayal from marker 3.42 to the end.

Some LYRICS from opera Lucia di Lammermoor: Il dolce suono, aria

The sweet sound of his voice struck me!
Ah, that voice has entered my heart!
Edgardo! I surrender to you, oh my Edgardo!
I have escaped from your enemies.
A chill creeps into my breast!
      Every fibre trembles!
      My foot falters!
Sit down by the fountain with me a while!
Alas, the tremendous phantom arises and separates us!
Let us take refuge here, Edgardo, at the foot of the altar.
      It is scattered with roses!
A heavenly harmony, tell me, do you not hear it?
Ah, the marriage hymn is playing!
      etcetera.

Class is over :snoring:.
Art will be the last bastion when all else fades away.
~ Timothy White (b 1952), American rock music journalist
