No one would be entrusted with hours of airtime on corporate-owned media, if that person weren't useful in one way or another.

Does that mean that each "useful" person is a spook? Not necessarily.

But I do think that the quote that Bruce Dazzling shared with us yesterday has a great deal of bearing on what kinds of things are considered "useful" — even if, at first blush, they don't appear to be:

"We must keep the people busy with political antagonisms. We'll therefore speed up the question of reform [of tariffs within] the Democratic Party; and we'll put the spotlight on the question of protection ...[for] the Republican Party. By dividing the electorate this way, we'll be able to have them spend their energies at struggling amongst themselves on questions that, for us, have no importance whatsoever."

United States Bankers magazine, 1892
"The most strongly enforced of all known taboos is the taboo against knowing who or what you really are behind the mask of your apparently separate, independent, and isolated ego."

Gatekeeping is an evolving strategy that has to set the bar a little higher to adapt to the better and better informed info-elites, such as folks on this discussion board and the internet newbies to covert crimes.
The CIA-media planners have been trying to get a piece of the internet's investigative journalism to co-opt the know-somethings.

You know HMW sometimes it really does bother me that you are so stuck in the infinitesimalness of it all. Free your mine Hugh there's a bigger universe out there and the CIA doesn't have control of one single atom of it. This is from a great site: TUC Radio, link at the bottom of the page with some about the producer Maria Gilardin (I love her accent), I have been listening to TUC for a while over the radio (KBOO 90.7FM) and now I can download to listen at work. I just listened to the Russ Baker interview and it is very compelling, as I saw you already know by your posts in this thread. Just another take, in a new format, with lot's of Nixion info and Bush Rasputianism. Talks about how the real power is in the Fortune 100, men, which we do not even know their names. He has set up a website:http://whowhatwhy.com/, that I was directed to by someone in this forum a while back, to uncover these men. The only real question I have is; How long will Russ Baker live?

FAMILY OF SECRETS
An interview with the author, Russ Baker
Gore Vidal called Baker's book about the Bush Dynasty and America's invisible government one of the most important books of the past ten years. In Family of Secrets Baker asks the obvious, but unanswered question, how can "such a clan occupy the presidency or vice presidency of the US for 20 of the past 28 years" with yet another Bush, Jeb Bush waiting in the wings. Family of Secrets reads and was conceived as a detective story, based on more than 500 interviews and thousands of documents, backed up by more than a 1000 footnotes. And even though the book uncovers a secret political life for all Bushes it is much more than a family expose. In this interview Russ Baker describes the powers behind the scenes, with examples from the CIA, oil and banking, and how these institutions are created by, and make use of people like the Bush family.

Russ Baker is an investigative journalist and has written for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, The Nation, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and served as a contributing editor to the Columbia Journalism Review, and is the founder of <http://whowhatwhy.com/>, a nonpartisan, nonprofit investigative news organization.

About TUC Radio and Maria Gilardin:
We became independent radio producers before the age of computer editing and internet distribution. Alternative Radio and WINGS were my inspiration. David Barsamian presents most of the really famous names in radio, Frieda Werden works with and for women. I decided to focus on themes such as globalization, corporations, ecology, Native Nations and climate change.

Recently I sat in a restaurant and opened my mail. When I told the waitress that I was going to order a desert after all because I had just received a check with a donation she said that she wished to live like I do, with so much trust in the kindness of strangers.

Please remember that you can affirm that trust and be that stranger whose gift will have an immediate effect because I live that close to the edge. Now, in October 09, I have just a little over $800 in the bank and in twenty years my balance has never been higher than $7,200. Nevertheless in 17 years I have not missed a single program.

Russ Baker pretended to offer 'new information' by stealing old old exposes and even better analysis right here on this website.

Remember, he's a contributing editor to the Columbia Journalism Review, an org run by the CIA which has never even mentioned Project Censored, this country's oldest media watchdog group at a university. But ole Russ recently infiltrated Project Censored.

One of his bios mentioned that he was once over in the Balkans 'teaching investigative reporting.'
Um, that's something that the US State Department does, training their own local propagandists.

Repeat: He's attempting to be the un-Webster Tarpley, etc. NO 9/11 truth will cross his lips. Count on it.

I would have to believe they knew exactly what was going to happen. Pretty sure a case could be made that Vietnam benefited the Bush dynasty greatly.

Well if you could post a source on that please do, haha. Maybe I'm just falling into believing the mainstream narrative. I don't think Robert McNamara knew what Vietnam would be before he got into it.

I don't know if I could find a good source on either point (a. the buildup to Vietnam; or b. benefit of Vietnam to the Bush family), but given what we do know, a case could be made that the ascendancy of the dynasty accelerated in the aftermath of the war. Perhaps on the first point I am naive and informed by my age and clouded by the way we understand that the world works today. And perhaps on the second point, the two events (war and ascendancy) are separate entities that have nothing to do with one another.

As far as I can see, no one has written an essay or published any work explicitly illustrating either point, but that doesn't mean that the information supporting them isn't contained elsewhere.

I'm going to keep thinking about this, and focus on the ascendancy connection as it seems way easier to prove.

Fair enough, that's a testable hypothesis.

And now... we wait.

It amazes me that you tell us the CIA is misdirecting us every day though a trillion-dollar policy of entertainment and news media manipulation that reaches all the way down to minor alt-weekly writers, bloggers and local TV news, but you find Tarpley--who not only once belonged and may still belong to the known-fascist, disinformation-spreading LaRouche apparatus but also has time and again made unsourced pronouncements with no discernable relation to reality--an icon of truth.
