George Lucas - The World Will End in 2012

Rogen stunned by Lucas' 2012 theory
By WENN.COM

Funnyman Seth Rogen was left stunned by a recent encounter with his moviemaking hero George Lucas - because the Star Wars director spent 20 minutes telling him the world would end in 2012.

Rogen was left speechless when Lucas and Steven Spielberg joined a movie meeting he was a part of - but the encounter has left him worried his life will be over next year.

He recalls, “George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it.

“He’s going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like, ’My nerdy friend won’t shut up, I’m sorry...’

“I first thought he (Lucas) was joking... and then I totally realized he was serious and then I started thinking, ’If you’re George Lucas and you actually think the world is gonna end in a year, there’s no way you haven’t built a spaceship for yourself... So I asked him... ’Can I have a seat on it?’

“He claimed he didn’t have a spaceship, but there’s no doubt there’s a Millennium Falcon in a garage somewhere with a pilot just waiting to go... It’s gonna be him and Steven Spielberg and I’ll be blown up like the rest of us.”
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

was this from the Onion? It's hilarious!

If I seriously thought the world was going to end in 23.5 months or whatever, I certainly would NOT be in a pre-production meeting. What a waste that would be.

People like Spielberg and Lucas have been rich enough to do whatever they want, whenever they want, for 30 years. And they've spent the majority of that time making (mostly) crap movies with all the pre-production meetings and red tape and grief that entails.

Lucas has probably done his own special math and might have hopes for an escape plan. What else is he going to do with the hours and days until it's time to check into the underground biosphere?

Oh I don't know, if I was them I would. Might as well do what you love, even if you knew for sure the world was "ending". So many movies out recently or coming out about the end of the world(2012, Knowing, Battle Los Angeles, etc) or a post apocalyptic world(The Road, The Book of Eli) that I know these themes are on a lot of Hollywood writer minds(or at least mining the hoopla for material)

The positive thing about a real coming cataclysmic event is that pretty much everyone, from Burmese sweat shop workers to rich Manhattanites would be on even ground. And I like that idea.

All I know, is just as I was predicting a few years back, they/it/whatever will sure make it seem LIKE the signs of the apocalypse are here as we head toward 2012(which we now see with massive earthquakes, mass bird and other animal die-offs, etc)

However, I still have a hunch that in 20, 30, hell 50 years Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons will still be cranking out new episodes.

.

Billionaire or not, Lucas lives in a juvenile fantasy world. Star Wars was not just a profit vehicle but his innermost expression. He went back and reedited it 30 years later to make sure no one saw the good guy shooting first! He retitled it Part IV: A New Hope and strives to erase evidence of the original title. He won't release the theater original on DVD because it would be too expensive to "remaster" to whatever his insane standard is (and of course the "remastered" version would no longer be the original). So when he blabs about how he knows the world will end in 2012, you can take it about as seriously as the nice old ladies you know who know they will see Jesus in person soon as they die. They believe that sincerely, but they are not doing anything practical to prepare for it, are they? It's enough that they live by the Lord's commandments, right? Why would Lucas want to do anything about 2012? As though he could! He may think his place in the afterlife as a being of pure Force is assured. Regardless, he doesn't think like you rationalists do, or he wouldn't believe in 2012, correct? If you think about it, there is something that would be far crazier than to believe the Earth will end in 2012 by an inevitable physical catastrophe. And that would be to think that you can do anything to change it, or to save yourself physically. Even as a billionaire. A rocket to where? With whom? Presumably he's a crazy man who lucked out in life, not a frackin' monster. Am I right? Thank you.

You are of course referring to the famous "Alderaan shot first" scene:

The phrase 'The End is Nigh' derives from a man who could often be seen walking up and down London's Oxford Street wearing a sandwich board bearing the phrase. The meaning was purely religious - he was warning of the 'impending' Christian vision of Apocalypse - but the phrase has since entered the popular consciousness as a slightly derogatory term for someone or something warning of impending doom.

Day of the triffods, childrens stories set in wartime London, 28 days, From the earliest reading age I was always attracted to the rest of the world perishing. Comforted me in a way. Probably sociopathic, at the very least disturbed however I don't think the attraction is that unique. It's an empowerment fantasy.

It's also a deceptive form of self flattery IMO to think you are part of some sum total of humanity, the last generation.

Utter utter bollocks given our adaptive qualities. For most in the developed word "The world ending" means the electricity goes out.

George Lucas is a loon. He needs a court jester to rip him a new ahole and bring him back to earth from time to time but like anyone surrounded by simpering leeches he's quite mad. Yet here he is providing otherwise presumably rational folk an opportunity to feel vaguely superior.

although reality convulsing is why I at least come to this site. Will it/won't it.

Can't find a pic of the original Oxford street sign guy anywhere.

I live in a community of variously brain damaged folk [I'm not LIKE the others]
One associate has an outdoor hair salon he potters about in madly, sometimes cutting kind peoples hair.
He plays a christian station "End times radio"
