Radiation. Yes, indeed.
You hear the most outrageous lies about it.
Half-baked, goggle-box do-gooders telling everybody it's bad for you.
Pernicious nonsense.
Everybody could stand 100 chest x-rays a year.
They ought to have them, too.

'Downwinder people' lived after Chernoble. They lived after Nagasaki and Hiroshima. They lived after the testing in Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Yes, there is probably radiation on the way. It probably won't kill you any faster than the DU that is aready aloft on the tradewinds. It will be a good idea to eat lots of seaweed and miso soup, to take bentonite and chlorella and all those good detox things. You do that anyway, right?

It will be much worse for the poor folks who live close. And God bless those poor plant workers. Heroes. And dead men walking.

I sincerely hope the world wakes the fuck up from this, and puts an end to the nuclear monster. There is NO safe nuclear power. Period.

Erm...

Fukushima is a triumph for nuke power: Build more reactors now!
Quake + tsunami = 1 minor radiation dose so far

By Lewis Page •

Analysis: Japan's nuclear powerplants have performed magnificently in the face of a disaster hugely greater than they were designed to withstand, remaining entirely safe throughout and sustaining only minor damage. The unfolding Fukushima story has enormously strengthened the case for advanced nations – including Japan – to build more nuclear powerplants, in the knowledge that no imaginable disaster can result in serious problems.

Tokyo radiation levels 23 times normal: officials

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Radiation levels in Tokyo surged to 23 times normal on Tuesday, according to reports that cited readings released by the Tokyo metropolitan government. Radiation levels of .809 micro severts were recorded in central Tokyo at 10.00 a.m. local time (9.00 p.m. U.S. Eastern time), reports said. Southerly winds are believed to be pushing a radioactive plume from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which lies about 150 miles north of Tokyo.

Quote:Asahi reports that according to TEPCO, the operator of the troubled nuclear power plants in Japan, U.S. military personnel were involved in fighting the fire in Reactor Number 4 of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. A Reuters item here says TEPCO asked US military forces in Japan for help.

The fire was successfully extinguished.

I can't find details on the reported US military assistance at this time, and have put out queries to military public affairs contacts.

Does anybody know where this originates and who is responsible for this projection? Is this updated gizmo or some persons prediction? What is the direct link to this info? If I had the link I could translate some of it with google.

Where are you getting this information? I'm on the West Coast, too, and it would SURE BE KINDA NICE if somebody in, oh, I don't know, our GOVERNMENT, might actually give us a little info on whether and when we're gonna be breathing in radiation.

Had no idea you could put a working google map in here. It scales in and out, drags around. It blew the thread width too wide for a few seconds in preview then it snapped back to normal size for me. If it busts the thread margins for anybody else and does not snap back after a few seconds let me know and I will pull it out.

In descending order from the top of the country to the bottom by perfecture. Names in bold are perfectures and the list under them are the towns in the perfectures.

I decided to go through this exercise to teach myself how fast this stuff moves and how reliable info may or may not be, and decided to compile and share. I did this about 3 a.m. central U.S. time tuesday march 15, 2011.

According to the info at zerohedge normal is 80 nGy/h. Why am I so skeptical of these low readings. Because I am so cynical? Earlier today it was 3024 nGy/h in Ibaraki. Could be the wind, could be they manipulated the data.

Two perfectures "under survey". Fukushima being one of them. I pulled this data from http://www.bousai.ne.jp/eng/
