Not a non-event. A meta-event. The distinction is important.

Hey, 82_29 (you've grown!) and Barracuda:
How about you retitle this thread "Osama Bin Ladin Death Announcement," since it's probably going to be around for a good long time?
They're showing a pretty big crowd outside the White House.
Mets at Phillies now in the 12th. Hugh, if everything is as fully advance scripted as you suppose, surely this means the NEW YORK Mets are going to win this game, right? Exciting.

Nice service on the thread title guys, but for a minute there you had... Osma? Oz-Ma? Is that a tribute to the Wizard?
82_28, you ask, what do I mean? You may have heard of the Metropolitans (known as the "Mets") a mostly hard-luck National League baseball team from New York. If you follow them -- and a couple of million people in NYC actually do, believe it or not -- then one of the most frequently recalled games is the one that resumed the season after the interruption of 9/11. At Shea Stadium on 9/21/01, Mike Piazza hit a homer to slay the Braves and restore the City's spirits. Or so the patriotic marketing legend has sold it.
Anyway, I'm obviously among those who is not giving this great meta-moment and latest first hour of a New World the solemnity and gravity it deserves. Or maybe just about right.
