I hope you get as much out of RI as I have and I'm glad to see that, despite your scary sleep problem, you have a thick enough skin to hang out here. Just a couple of thoughts about your predictive dream stats: I don't know about most folks, but I rarely recall my dreams these days. Not sure if that's due to aging or to something else, but I'm lucky to recall even a few fragments of dreams each week. In my 20s-30s my recall rate was much higher, but still nowhere near the numbers you posted. If true for most people, that would have a substantial effect upon your stats, right? I'm an artist, not a scientist, but just about everyone I know well (off-line) has your way of relating to the world and my own way of thinking has altered in the direction of logic over the years.
Around 1970, I took part in a private dream study, conducted by a scientist I met who was curious about evidence of precognition in dreams. No idea of the size of the study, but I remember there were some other people like me who had had a history of precognition, plus some controls who couldn't recall ever dreaming the future.
The 2nd thing that occurred to me was that each precognitive dream that I've had has felt qualitatively different from normal dreams. There was an exceptional vividness to them, not just in the colors/images, but every aspect (emotional intensity, almost hyper-realism). They were compelling in a way that an ordinary dream just isn't. Also, they often woke me up as they concluded, making my recall much better than usual. As part of the study, we were asked to immediately write down in a journal (in ink) any dream we felt was of the future (or of something happening at a distance, I think?), get someone else to read the account and sign and date the page. We then mailed the journal to the scientist. BTW, she was doing this study privately, to satisfy her own curiosity, since it would have damned her hopes of tenure if she'd published or even been known to be studying precognition to clairvoyance.
It's my opinion that ordinary dreams and precognitive or clairvoyant ones can't be lumped together--they're just too different.
Glad you found RI and I hope you and your wife have a happy Thanksgiving Day.
