Why then do you believe Paul wants those under 25 to be able to opt out of ss? On principle?
yes. as a transition. instead of taking office and passing a law to say "it's over. you're all cut off. best wishes." (a silly scare imo). i've heard him say that he wants to honor the promises made to date. check the cspan vids from south carolina if i recall.
And if it's all going to come crashing down anyway in your view, isn't Paul a sucker for believing that people should be able to save their own money for retirement as they see fit?
i think the idea is that if we quit trying to do the impossible forever that the crash can be avoided. notice how he indicates "to be able to opt out". people understand that when ss started, the rate was lower and ratio of workers supporting retirees was higher. both those metrics are and have been headed in the wrong direction. how's that fair? how does it make sense? not to mention the fact that after '71, the very trustee himself said "hey, mind if i borrow from your trust fund?". inform people and give them a choice? (let me change that semantic: inform people and remove the restrictions on them). what's wrong with that? fixing things that have gone wrong is not going to be a cakewalk. taking medicine usually isn't. or we can choose to stay sick....
Stupid Evil vs Regular Evil....
Don't know who to root for in that war.

Ron Paul’s White Supremacist Radio Connections

Written by Casey Gane-McCalla, Lead Blogger on December 30, 2011

Image

While Ron Paul would like you to believe that his connections to white supremacy ended with his racist newsletters, he has actively courted the white supremacist movement well into the 21st century, which is evident due to his outreach to white supremacist radio programs.

On February 18, 2001, Ron Paul appeared on “Radio Free America,” a show founded by Willis Carto, a neo-Nazi who founded the white supremacist group the National Alliance. “Radio Free America” is part of Carto’s “American Free Press,” which is labeled as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). While Paul did not discuss racial issues, he discussed several conspiracy theories. A transcript of the show was made available through Carto’s now-defunct racist publication “The Spotlight.”

In 2006 Ron Paul was scheduled to appear on another white supremacist radio show, “The Political Cesspool,” which featured the who’s who of racists, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, holocaust deniers and neo-Confederates. The show’s sponsors include white supremacist separatist group the Council of Conservative Citizens and the Institute for Historical Review, a Holocaust-denying organization founded by Carto, and the show is broadcast online via the neo-Nazi website Stormfront.

The show’s host, James Edwards, is a rising star in the white nationalist movement and idolizes former KKK Grand Wizard, David Duke. After reports began circulating that Ron Paul appeared on his show in 2006, Edwards wrote on his blog:

Unlike those who constantly attack me, I prefer to be honest. So, rather than be disingenuous, I will tell you that Ron Paul was scheduled and confirmed to appear for an hour-long interview on The Political Cesspool Radio Program in 2006. This booking was arranged by Jesse Benton.
A couple of hours before the live interview was to take place, we were informed that Congressman Paul had to take an unexpected flight and would be happy to reschedule with us at a later time.

Edwards also wrote an open letter to Ron Paul:

Dear Rep. Paul,

I know that the jackals in the establishment media are attempting to use your near-appearance on my radio program (five years ago!) as a hammer against you today. I’m sure you understand that you will never be able to curry favor with the Cultural Marxists that hate our values and seek to destroy the country we know and love.

You are just days away from winning the Iowa caucuses, which is why your opponents are resorting to such desperate measures. Your success causes the media and its handlers great distress, but always remember that appeasement never works.

We’ve done nothing wrong.

You’ve done nothing wrong.

Stay the course.

Our motto here in the studio is simple: “No Retreat, No Surrender, No Apology.”

Our mutual friend, Pat Buchanan, has recently given you a template to be used when answering questions about this show. You may want to take a look here and here.

We remain supportive of your candidacy and wish you nothing but the best of luck.

Sincerely,

James Edwards
Host, The Political Cesspool Radio Program

Ron Paul has also been a hot topic on Stormfront. Former KKK Grand Wizard Don Black had fellow former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke on as a quest and they discussed the man they rabidly support.

Don Black in the ’80s and ’90s believed that Ron Paul was a fellow white supremacist who wrote theracist newsletters:

Everybody, all of us back in the 80′s and 90′s, felt Ron Paul was, you know, unusual in that he had actually been a Congressman, that he was one of us (white supremacist) and now, of course, that he has this broad demographic–broad base of support.

They went out under his name in the first person and most people receiving these newsletters, including me, thought he really did write them.

So, now that he has this new base of support of course, he’s having–frantically trying to disavow himself from the newsletters.

David Duke would also voice support for Ron Paul:

Again, I go back to that, you know, traditional topic that I always talk about, you know, the powers of international Zionism–a power in banking, a power in media, a power in government influence, in campaign finance–a power that’s, you know, hurting the values of this country on behalf of Israel

So, I would vote for Ron Paul at this moment because he’s one of the few candidates who have policies in this regard and this realm that I wholeheartedly support, and that’s why I’d vote for him.

I am interested in the Anonymous aspect of the OP... which seems to have got lost in this thread -
rather than 'Ron Paul is a racist' mantra which to me is as faux as saying Ed Milliband is a commie cos NuLabour used loads of hardball communist activists to help organise tactics for Tony B. Liars 'election'. As the man said, "Proof is often nothing more than a lack of imagination"

I don't know, AD. I see it- it's true. Wingnuts like Ron Paul. There's a crossover in the realm of right-wing conspiracist Alex Jones crap and the John Birch Society, with the even seedier figures on the perimeter. Liberal CIA groups like SPLC and Public Research Associates (Chip Berlet) harp on this constantly, in order to associate "white supremacy" with "conspiracy theory." I read their newsletter (SPLC's) because my mom subscribes to it, and imo this is their primary objective- to associate "conspiracy theorists" (that would be us) with white supremacists (that would not be us). In the broader picture as I see it they are seeking to divide the libertarian anti-fascist crowd; represented heavily in Texas, esp. Austin; from cultural liberals and progressives. Obviously, I see the John Birch Society as the enemy. However, I don't see the entirety of the quasi-right wing- and there's a wide range, really- "anti-New World Order" crowd as the enemy. On the contrary, at this stage in history, if we were building a political party or a movement, I say let's form a massive anti-fascist tent. All anti-fascists should come together to overthrow this neo-Nazi cabal that's threatening the planet. No, that does not include David Duke. But it may include plenty of Ron Paul followers.
He's a fucking politician. He'll take pretty much whatever support and go on pretty much any radio show. He's an anti-Communist from racist southern Texas; no shit he's going to draw some undesirable characters. I'm not actually seeing the evidence of him "courting" David Duke and Bill White. So I don't know... if you were naive and thought Paul and the whole southern libertarian crowd were just like cultural progressives ("cultural Marxists," they say) except with a southern twang- get over that. But if we're going to reject the vast majority of people who don't believe the official story of 9/11 just because they lack multi-cultural hipness... well, I say that's falling right into the plan of the GOP, if you've ever read "What's the Matter With Kansas," which outlines how the GOP concocted and created the whole "red state, blue state" phenomenon.
Even Dennis Kucinich sees it this way, as he's on the record saying he would consider Ron Paul as a presidential running mate. They differ on domestic policy issues, but, more importantly, they share a common enemy- the financial elite and psy-ops crowd taking over the world. In the real world of Congress you make alliances. In the real world of the grassroots- so should we.
And, honestly, American Free Press turns me off no more than CNN. It was Spotlight, remember, that played an instrumental role in breaking the JFK assassination conspiracy.
I'm just saying- let's deal in realpolitik, not theoretical perfectionism.

I don't think a politician can control what kind of people like them but they can- and should control what kind of people they associate their campaign with. Ron Paul has not done this to my satisfaction.

Don Black, Lew Rockwell, the neo-Confederates and etc. are just canaries in the coal mine.

What is the point to me?

That Ron Paul has an extremely faulty political compass, right as he might be about certain things...

Its no surprise that two groups, theoretically speaking, can have 90% of their principles in common and the 10% they don't have in common will be used as a battering ram by interested parties to keep them apart. Some of that 10% can be real and some of it is based on hypotheticals, inaccurate associations, hysteria, past circumstances that are not applicable to future carry over, and very often outright lies.

I don't know for sure how much of the wedge issues with Paul is real and how much is memorex because I am not obsessed with it enough to spend the time on it. I think one of the things that drives the wedge issue pushers crazy is the fact that Paul, even though he may have some warts, doesn't have enough of them to suit the wedge pushers. He doesn't take lobby money and stay wrapped up in shady financial deals to the degree that most other politicians do. He has some investments in mining that can be used environmentally, the racism issue, but for the most part his 'number' of warts that are easily used against him are far fewer than most candidates.

This seems to be causing some hysteria that gets humorous at times in relation to the issues the wedgies can find to use. Typically the tactic is to take a candidates warts and roast him alive in public with them in grand fashion but it appears they have decided to use the ignore tactic mostly with Paul because his dirt factor isn't sleazy enough for the wedgies to start a huge bonfire with and roast him alive on the spit like a circus show complete with parade and band.

Re: Anonymous hacks A3P, Claims Neo-Nazi Links to Ron Paul

Postby brainpanhandler » Wed Feb 01, 2012 8:04 pm

Ya know, those nazis weren't all bad. They had a few good ideas.

The Nazi Party Platform, 1920

THE PROGRAM OF THE NATIONAL-SOCIALIST (NAZI) GERMAN WORKERS’ PARTY
The Program of the German Workers’ Party is a program for our time. The leadership rejects the establishment of new aims after those set out in the Program have been achieved, for the sole purpose of making it possible for the Party to continue to exist as the result of the artificially stimulated dissatisfaction of the masses.

1. We demand the uniting of all Germans within one Greater Germany, on the basis of the right to self-determination of nations.

2. We demand equal rights for the German people (Volk) with respect to other nations, and the annulment of the Peace Treaty of Versailles and St. Germain.

3. We demand land and soil (Colonies) to feed our People and settle our excess population.

4. Only Nationals (Volksgenossen) can be Citizens of the State. Only persons of German blood can be Nationals, regardless of religious affiliation. No Jew can therefore be a German National.

5. Any person who is not a Citizen will be able to live in Germany only as a guest and must be subject to legislation for Aliens.

6. Only a Citizen is entitled to decide the leadership and laws of the State. We therefore demand that only Citizens may hold public office, regardless of whether it is a national, state, or local office.

7. We demand that the State make it its duty to provide opportunities of employment first of all for its own Citizens. If it is not possible to maintain the entire population of the State, then foreign nationals (non-Citizens) are to be expelled from the Reich.

8. Any further immigration of non-Germans is to be prevented. We demand that all non-Germans who entered Germany after August 2, 1914, be forced to leave the Reich without delay.

9. All German Citizens must have equal rights and duties.

10. It must be the first duty of every Citizen to carry out intellectual or physical work. Individual activity must not be harmful to the public interest and must be pursued within the framework of the community and for the general good.

We therefore demand:
11. The abolition of all income obtained without labor or effort.
Breaking the Servitude of Interest

12. In view of the tremendous sacrifices in property and blood demanded of the Nation by every war, personal gain from the war must be termed a crime against the Nation. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits.

13. We demand the nationalization of all enterprises (already) converted into corporations (trusts).

14. We demand profit-sharing in large enterprises.

15. We demand the large-scale development of old-age pension schemes.

16. We demand the creation and maintenance of a sound middle class; the immediate communalization of the large department stores, which are to be leased at low rates to small tradesmen. We demand the most careful consideration for the owners of small businesses in orders placed by national, state, or community authorities.

17. We demand land reform in accordance with our national needs and a law for expropriation without compensation of land for public purposes. Abolition of ground rent and prevention of all speculation in land.

18. We demand ruthless battle against those who harm the common good by their activities. Persons committing base crimes against the People, usurers, profiteers, etc., are to be punished by death without regard of religion or race.

19. We demand the replacement of Roman Law, which serves a materialistic World Order, by German Law.

20. In order to make higher education—and thereby entry into leading positions—available to every able and industrious German, the State must provide a thorough restructuring of our entire public educational system. The courses of study at all educational institutions are to be adjusted to meet the requirements of practical life. Understanding of the concept of the State must be achieved through the schools (teaching of civics) at the earliest age at which it can be grasped. We demand the education at the public expense of specially gifted children of poor parents, without regard to the latter’s position or occupation.

21. The State must raise the level of national health by means of mother-and-child care, the banning of juvenile labor, achievement of physical fitness through legislation for compulsory gymnastics and sports, and maximum support for all organizations providing physical training for young people.

22. We demand the abolition of hireling troops and the creation of a national army.

23. We demand laws to fight against deliberate political lies and their dissemination by the press. In order to make it possible to create a German press, we demand:

a) all editors and editorial employees of newspapers appearing in the German language must be German by race;

b) non-German newspapers require express permission from the State for their publication. They may not be printed in the German language;

c) any financial participation in a German newspaper or influence on such a paper is to be forbidden by law to non-Germans and the penalty for any breech of this law will be the closing of the newspaper in question, as well as the immediate expulsion from the Reich of the non-Germans involved. Newspapers which violate the public interest are to be banned. We demand laws against trends in art and literature which have a destructive effect on our national life, and the suppression of performances that offend against the above requirements.

24. We demand freedom for all religious denominations, provided that they do not endanger the existence of the State or offend the concepts of decency and morality of the Germanic race. The Party as such stands for positive Christianity, without associating itself with any particular denomination. It fights against the Jewish-materialistic spirit within and around us, and is convinced that a permanent revival of our Nation can be achieved only from within, on the basis of:

Public Interest before Private Interest.

25. To carry out all the above we demand: the creation of a strong central autority in the Reich. Unquestioned authority by the political central Parliament over the entire Reich and over its organizations in general. The establishment of trade and professional organizations to enforce the Reich basic laws in the individual states.
The Party leadership promises to take an uncompromising stand, at the cost of their own lives if need be, on the enforcement of the above points.

Munich, February 24, 1920.

I wasn't making a statement about the importance or severity of the charges against Paul which is why I highlighted 'number' like I did. Not saying affiliating with nazis isn't serious or that nazis are worthy of affiliating with because I don't agree with the principles in the platform you posted above. Hope it didn't seem that way. It was a sterile observation about the 'volume and number' of different issues and how they have chosen to deal with it. For some reason they haven't chosen to barbecue him with it and have decided to ignore it. Mittens is getting grilled from several different angles about his finances and I was just noticing the difference in tactics being used by different campaigns.

Just general food for thought not really particularly aimed at anyone. I was curious if I could find anything in the National Socialist 25-point Programme with which I could agree. And how well Paul's platform might conform as well.

There are similarities and glaring distinctions. And it should be noted that the 25 point programme was created in 1920 and retained as a central guiding statement of principles only as long as politically necessary and expedient. Some of the more arguably pro labor/anti-capitalist elements; 11., 13., 14., 15., 16. , were never enacted or only partially so after the nazis had siezed complete control.

I'm especially fond of this from 16:

the immediate communalization of the large department stores, which are to be leased at low rates to small tradesmen.

I wanna see walmarts communilized. Ha.

"Anonymous" hack of neo-Nazi A3P reveals Ron Paul link!

Submitted by Bill Weinberg on Wed, 02/01/2012 - 18:18

Us old-school lefties have been wondering for a quite some time, which is more annoying—the legions of "Anonymous" hacktivists who think that faceless adventurism is the cutting-edge of revolution, or Ron Paul supporters who think that this ultra-reactionary Republican crank stands for progressive change? Well now, much to our amusement, they appear to be at each other's throats! And we have to give an editorial tip o' the hat to Anonymous for uncovering more dirt on Paul's ties to real live neo-Nazis. In their latest cyber-attack, they apparently hacked the website of some nimrods calling themselves American Third Position, or A3P—a Southern California-based outfit that is seeking to mainstream white supremacism by running candidates, in the style of David Duke back in the '90s. The hackers evidently splashed a bunch of the A3P crew's internal e-mails on the group's homepage—and, lo and behold, it turns out they are a well integrated into Paul's political machine! This account from the UK's International Business Times, Jan. 31:

Anonymous also claims that the organisation has links with Republican candidate Ron Paul. "We found a disturbingly high number of members who are also involved in campaigning for Ron Paul," the statement said, adding that Paul had regularly met with many party members and even engaged in conference calls with its board of directors.

Another target of the hack was the A3P webmaster, Jamie Kelso. According to the hacker collective, Kelso, a former Scientologist and organiser for Paul campaign events, is also the account owner of neo-Nazi forums and websites.

The hacktivists said they also hacked Kelso's credit card and made donations to anti-fascist organisations, such as the Anti-Defamation League.

"We call upon not only other anti-fascists but all those opposed to white supremacy to utilise this information and make hell for these white nationalist scumbags," the statement added. "It is essential, if we wish to live in a world free from oppression, to expose and confront racists at their jobs, their schools, at their homes and in the streets."

The Anonymous hacks are part of an ongoing campaign called Operation Blitzkrieg, which is aimed at attacking and exposing the websites of neo-Nazi organisations in Europe and the United States.

The ADL was a very impolitic choice, of course, which isn't going to win Anonymous too many friends on the left. We suggest next time they try Anti-Racist Action, or even the more mainstream Southern Poverty Law Center. More from a Feb. 1 IBT article which again sports the famous photo of Ron Paul schmoozing with Don Black of Stormfront:

Members of the nationalist American Third Position Party (A3P), whose website was defaced by Anonymous, organised Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul's meetings and campaigns, according emails hacked by the collective.

Chairman of the British National Party (BNP) Nick Griffin also took part in meetings with Paul and other representatives of A3P.

"According to these messages, Ron Paul has regularly met with many A3P members, even engaging in conference calls with their board of directors," read a statement from Anonymous.

It also claims that Paul received financial support from other white power groups, such as the online hate forum Stormfront, founded by Don Black, a white supremacist. There is even a photograph of Paul with Black, a former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan and a current member of the American Nazi Party. Paul allegedly refused to return donations from Black and Stormfront. Black told The New York Times that Paul's newsletter had inspired him to become a supporter.

In its statement, Anonymous said it put extra effort into hacking A3P webmaster Jamie Kelso, a key figure in organising Paul's meetings and conferences.

Kelso, a former Scientologist and account owner of other German Nazi forums, became an active supporter of Paul in 2007. He was reportedly attracted to Paul because he believed the Republican's followers would be receptive to his white supremacist views. He described Paul as "implicitly white" and started to actively organise Paul's events.

"Let's appreciate this big (Paul) audience that's overwhelmingly white," Kelso said in an interview with the Southern Poverty Law Center. "This is our audience, this is our public. These are our people. If we can't persuade these people of the rightness of our cause, then we're finished," he said.

Excerpts from the email hacked by Anonymous show Kelso's commitment to Paul's policies.

In 2009 he wrote to a supporter: "My own opinion is that the White revolution has already begun, and that the good White folks...that fills [sic] these Ron Paul crowds and marching armies ARE the start of the revolution."

Is this the "rev3VOLution" that Ron Paul's supporters are always talking about? Did Ron Paul actually meet with Nick Griffin, as implied above? The Paul connection to Griffin and his vile British National Party is instructive. The BNP has lately been very aggressive with a campaign to steal the populist fire from British labor, linking demands for jobs to xenophobia. Griffin is also, not too surprisingly, a Qaddafi-admirer. Further elucidation is provided by the Southern Poverty Law Center's page on A3P :

Rounding out the A3P's white nationalist team is Jamie Kelso, who has in the past worked for David Duke and served as a moderator for Stormfont, the first major hate site on the Web. The A3P website does not mention Kelso's official position, but he has described himself as the "executive assistant" to William Johnson. Kelso is a behind-the-scenes player at the A3P, but an influential one...

With this group of white nationalist leaders assembled, the party is now seeking active dues-paying members and recruiting voters to register as members of the party for the 2010 California elections. Johnson plans to target a number of different groups in order to assemble the party's base. He developed contacts with Republicans and libertarians who supported Ron Paul during the 2008 US presidential election, holding a $2,000-a-plate fundraiser for Paul's campaign in September 2007. In a July 1, 2010, Internet radio broadcast, Kelso said: "There’s a great overlap in Patriot activities and Patriot causes, and we have, we will have a big effect on this much larger movement, the Ron Paul Revolution, that has millions of people engaged…we'll be pulling them from the right." The A3P also has shown up at Tea Party rallies to try to fulfill this goal.

Maybe the Paul-suckers out there who fancy themselves "progressives" of some sort, and are attracted to the weasel for his facile anti-war and civil libertarian talk, will start to wake up now. Meanwhile, we are a bit confused as to what is actually going on with the A3P website. A Google search turns up American3rdposition.com, which redirects to MerlinMiller2012, the (seemingly un-hacked) website of A3P's presidential candidate, white supremacist independent film-maker (gee, just what the world needs) Merlin Miller.

I am very concerned about Ron Paul's agenda with relation to reproductive freedoms, immigrant rights, racial oppression, workers' rights, ecological sustainability, queer liberation, the educational system, separation of church and state, the economically vulnerable (evisceration of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, etc.), monopoly capital and corporate crime in general.

[Amongst many, many other concerns...
