Q: ATS: Kinglizard asks, Do you still believe that the Holocaust in WWII was fictional? If so why? What purpose does it serve?

A: David Icke: The Holocaust wasn't fictional in the sense that vast numbers of Jewish people, Communists, gypsies and so on suffered abominations at the hands of the Illuminati-created Nazis. But what I also find grotesque is the exploitation of that suffering by those who were not there and seek only to advance their own agenda and line their own pockets. Norman Finklestein, whose parents were in the concentration camps, has written a magnificent expose of these people in his book, The Holocaust Industry. Highly recommended. Those who wish to suppress the exposure of the global conspiracy also use the treatment of the Jews in Germany to dub researchers racist because they reveal the manipulations of people like the Illuminati Rothschilds. It is not about protecting Jewish people from discrimination, but using Jewish people to protect their own self interests.

so that's it.....are you kidding me?

That's where all this frickin denial comes from? You've got to be kidding me...you are kidding, right?

Just to be clear, I offered that link as a verifiable statement of Icke's actual beliefs re: the Holocaust. I have not referred to him as a denier anywhere in this thread or this forum.

So, no, I am not kidding you.

People tend to change position through information and perception, not exposing logic errors.

I think it is helpful to keep in mind that the people around here who are the most open to changing their minds are either lurking or rarely post.

That seems plausible but obviously has to remain by definition in the realm of speculation. Unless people want to uncloak and describe how their minds have been changed.

Well, I lurked here for two years as I was deprogramming from the prevailing American culture. I joined a year ago and I post occasionally. I learn new things about the world all the time ... a fair amount of that info comes from this board. I voted for Bush twice. I thought I was a conservative Republican. I voted for Obama thinking he represented real change. Needless to say, I've changed my mind about the centrality of politics ... largely based on info I learned here. I learned that not everyone plays fairly. I've learned a tremendous amount about ritual abuse, feminine politics, gay rights, the police state, the military industrial complex, etc. And not just the politics of the issues, but something about the perspectives of people that are different than me. I actually think differently now than I did three years ago.

If a person has thousands of posts on a board like RI, they are probably extremely confident in their views. The vast majority of us are not so we don't post or lurk until we feel confident enough to post something and usually we do so with fear and trembling that we will make fools of ourselves. I think very few people are actively changing their minds at any one moment, but when they do, a place like RI provides data points and alternate perspectives that are extremely helpful.

I want to encourage you to focus on posting great information and opinion based on your own unique perspective. Don't be provoked or discouraged. Avoid flame wars if you can. It makes a difference. You just need to know where to look.

Exactly. Or some of us try to see as many sides as is possible, and we thank you for your hard work and spirited debates.

It's only human for serious students-academics to compete and contend so hard, and slap down bibliographies and citations and lay down logic traps and FIGHT LIKE HELL... Just as it's only human for the tired middlebrow generalist dilettante nursing his cup of disillusionment in the corner to make wisecracks about angels and pinheads... while he keeps listening.

Speaking of Saurian Tails, I've been doing a lot of shadow-investigation lately. My shadow has lots of opinions on mystics and jews and the vatican and islam and the USA and the rich and the homeless and the arab spring. Truly amazing (revolting, frightening) what can visit and try to take up residence inside me. Shit my shadow says... actually, I think the most dangerous parts of our shadows are judgmental, selfish, defensive, paranoid, punishing, ignorant and merciless... wow, just like the seven evil dwarfs of FOX news.

EDIT: Additional thanks to Saurian Tail for describing the reader-lurker experience here so well.

I make few decisions on what the truth is, so it's more a matter of a splash of mixed paint changing slightly as another bit of colour is stirred in, sometimes a trace, sometimes a fat drop.

Thanks for all the paint.

Wow well now that's settled....all this fussin' and fightin' is for naught? No one ever accused David Icke of being a holocaust denier or an anti-semite? WTF! Here I thought that's why we shouldn't mention his name here...Where the hell did I get that idea? Praise the lord and pass the peas..... controversy over...I guess I was mistaken..too bad it took so long to figure out...could have saved a whole lot of hard feelings and a WHOLE lot of trouble for the mods...Thanks AD, and I am sorry for any unintentional hard feelings :hug1:

Slad, really. If that's what you thought, then re-read the thread.

It's not what David Icke didn't say that makes him suspect.

It's what he does say.

I'm just going by what AD just posted, after all he's the expert on Icke  if he don't know who does?

Seriously? Are you really that confused?

Icke's cartoonishness trivializes every subject he touches — and some of those subjects he touches upon have involved real abuses and real survivors of those abuses, including real rape and real torture.

Icke's general whackiness makes those topics appear less real by the very fact that when he's touching upon them, HE is the one doing it.

What the hell is it about this that you still don't get?

Neither am I: despite everything that's already been said here about how David Icke serves to trivialize real crimes — and serves to help make survivors of those real crimes into objects of ridicule! — you defend him as being somehow worthwhile.

Nice.

The ones elevating Icke power in the world to the status of war criminals torturers and holocaust deniers...that's the trivializing here..Nice

I am not defending Icke...I am and always have been for the right of his name to be mention here that is all. Don't put fuckin motives on me YOU know nothing of my motives

There's no citation. Slad is saying she had mistakenly thought someone on the thread had called Icke a holocaust denier. I don't believe anyone has specifically performed that particular action as of yet on this particular thread.

Can we return to the meat of the topic now?
