I think that God in creating Man somewhat overestimated his ability.

With all of the nonsense of the past 20 or so years, I guess it's pretty easy to forget how vital and just plain awesome these guys were at the height of their powers.

The story of Seamus just keeps dogging Mitt Romney.

Even Devo, the new wave band best known for 1980 single "Whip It," is hounding Romney about the Irish setter's infamous 12-hour car ride to Canada in a carrier tied to the top of the family car.

The band told The Guardian that its next single, due August 25, is called, "Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus)." The cover art shows a terrified pooch on the roof of a car driven by the Republican presidential candidate.

This isn't the first time Devo has had a political motivation behind one of its songs.

Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh told Songfacts that he thought of "Whip It" as "kind of a Dale Carnegie, 'You Can Do It' song for Jimmy Carter."

The story of Seamus was revived by none other than President Obama on Tuesday, during a campaign swing through Iowa. While talking up wind power, Obama tweaked Romney for recently saying: "You can't drive a car with a windmill on it."

"Now, I don't know if he has actually tried that," said Obama, adding slyly, "I know he has had other things on his car."

Romney, for his part, has said Seamus didn't mind the long, windy ride.

It sounds more astounding the more seldom I listen to it (Must be about two years now).

Less than a year for me, Mac. I love this song on so many levels.

I am the son
and the heir
of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and the heir
of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
how can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

There's a club, if you like to go
you could meet somebody who really loves you
so you go, and you stand on your own
and you leave on your own
and you go home, and you cry
and you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen "now"
well, when exactly do you mean?
see I've already waited too long
and all my hope is gone
