Rigint on Facebook

Postby Jeff » Sun Sep 16, 2012 9:48 pm

Because it's never too late to act like it's 2008, I've finally created a Facebook page for Rigint:

http://www.facebook.com/rigint

It may be useful for sharing info when we're down, and spreading the usual pessimistic truth.

Oh, Jeff.

Maybe a Swiss-registered mirror run out of servers in a fortified Swedish cave. But Facebook?

After the recent difficulties I thought again that what I'd really, really, really love is if you made full back-ups of the site available for us to download. Pretty-pretty please?

Yeah. I feel kinda naked with it on Facebook. Like bright lights have suddenly been shined into our nice dark little smoke-filled room here.

Just kidding. Mostly. I don't know who all those people are who are "liking" it now. Complete strangers!

one suggestion--which is probably as odious as facebook, but with less of a footprint-- is to turn to Twitter when there's an outtage. That was my first inclination, I searched twitter for #rigint, #rigorousintuition, #ri (<-- lots of tweets about Rhode Island with this last one, I dont suggest using it). but if the board goes down, maybe Jeff could tweet an update tagged with #rigint and then once the board is back no one has to use to Twitter anymore until the next issue comes up?

Fun fact: clicking "like" has completely crippled FB on this desktop. Takes about 2 minutes to load completely, often doesn't.

Not trying to be alarmist, but it's a pretty remarkable A ==> B transformation. PC Windows XP way out of date, custom case build, Comcast shit-tastic cable, VT IP address, could also be related to heap spray attacks (LOL) or the Google Docs / Drive conversion, which has also created a wake of fuckery.

This comp gets the Windows Recovery treatment every 2 moon cycles or so, too. But: if you're surfing on a similar quality board, be careful daug!

Everything else on the net has been working at regular blazing speeds. Gonna round out a few notebook pages then watch "The Thick of It"

first two eps are out. Malcom doesn't appear til episode 2.

The opposition labor MP is played by an actress that was in Ideal (and many other things). It looks good so far. Maybe Malcom calls in cartoonface as an enforcer soon

Jeff, I'd consider participating if it were a closed group. But Facebook is creepy and dangerous.

Jeff mirrored the latest Arctic update posting, but other than that, I thought this was just supposed to be for emergencies. Wasn't there a rigorous intuition subreddit at some point?

Totally understand. I wanted to leave it open so anyone could check the status of RI should it be down without needing to register for FB.
