I'm not voting, on the grounds that it's not fair to brekin.
They were on the exact opposite sides of the same conflict on the Misogyny thread -- ie, she was legitimately on-topic on a sensitive issue, and he just felt too accused by it to let it go.
If anyone wants to see it, it started
here, got much worse
here, and then continued on and off for a solid month before the thread was locked on page 146. But if anyone wants to read the whole thing, it starts with the first post on the second page of results
here.)
At the time, I thought he couldn't have been more wrong, inappropriate or insensitive.
But I guess I was mistaken. Because one thing you won't find is him escalating the conflict by seizing on opportunities to mock, lampoon, scorn and make a caricature out of her until she broke down, gave up and quit trying to speak for herself.
So I guess I ought to have thought that while he wasn't being nice, at least he wasn't going out of his way to be mean to her just because she was distressed about something that didn't bother him, which made him feel unfairly accused.
It would have been forgivable if he had. Same as it is for her. But it is a thing, and it wasn't brave. It was just mean. So I'm protest-not-voting on his behalf.
