Great for the environment ... probably extremely low survivability rate for crashes / malfunctions.

New Super-Fast Transport System Powered By Passengers’ Screams

SAN FRANCISCO—Entrepreneur Elon Musk unveiled his plans Monday for a revolutionary Hyperloop transportation system, which would seat riders in vacuum-like tubes, launch them from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and would be powered solely by the screams of its terrified passengers. “With zero negative effects on the environment, the Hyperloop could cut travel times in half, or even by two thirds, depending on how loud passengers’ shrieks and pleas for help are,” said Musk, adding that special turbines will convert the horrified screams of its riders into kinetic energy, which would then propel the capsule at record speeds toward its final destination. “If passengers are terrified enough to scream in abject terror the entire duration of the ride—and they probably will, knowing that even the slightest malfunction will cause their flesh to peel off their bodies—an hour-and-a-half trip from New York City to San Francisco could be a reality.” Musk added that his team is still working on technology that would power the rapid transportation tubes with both crying and silently praying to God for the trip to be over.

A California company set on building a futuristic, super high-speed transportation system announced on Dec. 8, 2015, that it will build a test track in North Las Vegas.
A startup inspired by the tech visionary's idea will soon begin testing the radical transportation concept in Nevada
The futuristic hyperloop transportation system championed by Tesla Motors co-founder Elon Musk will have early tests in the deserts of Las Vegas.
Hyperloop Technologies announced Tuesday that it will build a test track in Las Vegas for the new technology, which would transport passengers through vacuum tubes at speeds up to 750 miles per hour using solar power. The idea was first presented in a white paper by Musk in 2013 and has since been adopted by multiple independent companies that are racing to build a proof of concept.
The hyperloop startup eventually wants to build a route between Las Vegas and Los Angeles, with plans to initially transport cargo, then human beings later on. Testing at a Las Vegas industrial park as soon as the first quarter of 2016.
Musk, whose company SpaceX is hosting its own hyperloop competition, has called the concept the “fifth mode” of transportation, aligning it with automobiles, planes, trains and boats.
