Just saw "The Conspiracy". Wow. That was definitely pretty intense, I'd even say jarring. The last act is downright terrifying. I was extremely impressed with the look
of the film, the use of soundscapes, mood, the dialogue. The trailer doesn't even really do it justice

The fellow who directed this just jumped to his death at age 91. Such impatience.

anyway, here's a lesser known movie of the Mob variety, worth seeing.

These folks are making a run at full length movies, legit, on youtube, ad-supported (though they don't force you out if you use adblocker). So enjoy. looks like theyt've got a few thousand movies up already.

Say...

you notice movies don't have proper THEME song sequences anymore? Well, few do. That's something needs to come back.

The Scent of Green Papaya

As the comment says at the trailer link, "words cannot describe the beauty of this movie." It's mesmerizing.....almost hypnotic in its imagery, soundtrack and pace. The story is meticulously rendered. It's noteworthy because it's the first movie to come out of Vietnam, produced in 1993. The trailer, whilst decent, cannot do the movie justice.

Daisies (Sedmikrásky) 1966
from Icosahedron 6 months ago all audiences

Daisies (Sedmikrásky) is a 1966 Czechoslovak comedy-drama film written and directed by Věra Chytilová considered a milestone of the Nová Vlna movement. Made with the support of the state-sponsored film studio, it follows two teenage girls, both named Marie, played by Jitka Cerhová and Ivana Karbanová, who engage in strange pranks.

Innovatively filmed, and released two years before the Prague Spring, the film was labeled as "depicting the wanton" by the Czech authorities and banned. Director Chytilová was forbidden to work in her homeland until 1975. The film received the prestigious Grand Prix of the Belgian Film Critics Association.

I don't watch many movies and haven't been to a theater in more than a dozen years, so I've never seen one of the newer 3D movies. My internet is far to slow to watch videos, so I rarely view any that are posted except maybe those under 1 minute. They only take an hour or so to download.

Never subscribed to Netflicks, so when the video stores closed I was lost to the media.

But Redbox came along a year or so ago and I do occasionally rent one from their rather poor collection available. One movie I would recommend to others would be "Pawn Shop Chronicles," which I suggest seeing cold, without having read any review of it.

In some ways it's an awful film, as in Tarantino, but if you've enjoyed his work you'll enjoy Pawn Shop Chronicles. But it comedic and a bit darker, if that's possible, imo,

I won't post a review or a video, but I'll link to two sites with reviews and access to trailers, the latter with a more critical review. But trust me, it's far better to see it cold!

If you've already seen this flick, please pm me to share your feelings about it. I loved it and I think most would want to watch it a few times as I have.

And because tomorrow is my birthday, here's another you might like, 6 Souls.

Great list - I've seen most of the former but only Pontypool, of the latter. I figured Kill List*, is the only one I would add to them as a great RI themed horror. I will procure the others and watch! Cheers!

*(I think you or someone else here first spoke of it that it got my attention)

Wild you would mention that, nearly everyone I've shared that list with asked why it wasn't there. I just thought it was a little too slow-paced to recommend, I loved it, though. I also neglected "Splinter" -- the coolest "creature" flick I've seen, outside of the classics like Alien / The Thing.

Tonight I am going to be gorging on horror films I've had recommended to me in return. Pray for my soul.

I thought it clever even though it is
a little Blair Witch & District 9 like.
Has some neat visuals and has got

Troll Hunter

--------------
Watched it. Like it a lot. Netflix.

http://www.corbettreport.com/trollhunter-flnwo-10/
In this month’s edition of Film, Literature and the New World Order, Tom Secker joins us to talk about Trollhunter, a 2010 Norwegian found footage mockumentary about a secret government agency that is dedicated to disposing of (and concealing evidence of) trolls. We talk about the mockumentary genre, conspiritainment, how socialist societies deal with national security threats, and much more.

Though Cloverfield already did more or less the same thing, The Troll Hunter differs from that film pretty significantly in a tonal sense, imbuing its outrageous premise with a knowing sense of humor and a sly political subtext...

... BD: As far as ‘Troll Hunter’, there’s quite a bit of political subtext in the film, some of which is quite specific to Norway. Do you think that stuff will translate to American audiences?

AO: Oh yeah, I think it translates very well. I think everybody has this [suspicion of] the government keeping secrets. And I think actually that idea is even stronger here than in Norway, this kind of suspicion toward the government. I have myself seen theater audiences here in America reacting very well to the scenes when he starts explaining how it all works out, about him being a worker, and he complains about the working conditions and that kind of stuff. And the audience laughs very much, so I think they totally get it.

BD: I love the epilogue when you have the footage from a real-life press conference and the [Norwegian] Prime Minister [Jens Stoltenberg] says something about trolls, and obviously he’s not talking about your kind of trolls, but I love the stunned look on the guys’ face sitting next to him when he says it. Was that added in later or was it in the original cut of the movie?

AO: No, that was all added later actually. That was added during post-production. We had another ending, but we realized this is so great – ‘the Prime Minister is actually saying the word troll!’ And we just had to use it.

BD: Was that something that people in Norway picked up on when that press conference actually aired or is it just something you happened to stumble across?

AO: No, the reason actually [that] he’s talking about it…he’s actually talking about…a huge oil field outside of Norway that’s called the Troll Field. And he was talking about power supplies, and I can’t remember exactly the context. But he was saying something about the Troll Field, and we did some editing to the audio! [Laughs]...

Troll Hunter: Highly recommended. Very smart and funny. Mildly RI themed.

"Is anyone here a Christian?!"

The only movie I've seen that caused me, the next morning, to look up whether the U.S. rights had been sold. Obvious, guaranteed box office. Unfortunately it was bought, and the U.S. version will be an epic suck. Two words: Chris Columbus.
