N.B. I edited the post above, to include the anecdote told by Tharwat El-Kherbawy about the training exercise. I forgot to include it initially, but that was one of the main reasons I mentioned him in the first place.

To assist in David Cameron's probe into MB links to terrorism and crimes in Egypt, Egyptians are tweeting to #mb_europe. Those who are on Twitter might like to check it out:

I came across this video on Facebook and right away thought of you, Allegro. The music is sooooo evocative of Egypt, especially in the first half of the 20th century (I would guess up to the mid-1960s):

First, despite the deliberate misinformation being peddled by The Guardian, as I explained rather exhaustively here, the 720 defendants have not yet been sentenced. Not only that, but nearly 600 of them are fugitives who have been tried in absentia, and if and when they are arrested, this trial will be null and void and they will be tried all over again. As for the original 529, only 7 have been sentenced to death by the judiciary panel, and those 7 still have two more levels of appeals to go before their sentences are final.

Second, it's disingenuous of The Guardian to omit the fact that the judges and indeed most Egyptians have seen for themselves the hours and hours of video evidence of the crimes being committed, in which the perpetrators are clearly identified, which formed the basis for their arrest and indictment. These crimes occurred nearly 9 months ago. For months before the trials began, police investigators questioned witnesses, gathered and analyzed the videos and other evidence, all of which were examined and analyzed by court experts before the trials began. These crimes were filmed from a number of angles and during different time frames over the several days during which they were committed. Here is a very, very small sample:

At 6:00 a.m. on August 14, 2013, as the terrorist camps in Cairo were being evacuated by police, a signal went out by the Brotherhood to its followers across Egypt, especially in the severely underdeveloped rural towns and villages in Upper Egypt. Responding to the signal, the local mosques were taken over, and a call went out over loudspeakers to the Brotherhood's followers to "avenge their Brothers". By 8:00 a.m., a frenzied mob had begun a rampage that included burning down churches and the homes and businesses of Christians. Here is a video of this mob, after having burned the local church and murdered its priest, Father Iskandar Ta'ous, dragging his corpse through the streets:

Here is another mob which burned down the local police station and looted it, and murdered the police officer in charge, then attacked his deputy, Officer Karim Fouad. Officer Fouad miraculously survived, but he has suffered many broken bones and has been permanently disfigured after the mob threw sulfuric acid on him:

Here is a video showing some of the looters who torched the police station:

This is a video taken inside the hospital where the Deputy Chief in charge of the same police station was taken after being battered by the mob. There is a group of men standing in front of where he is lying, trying to stop the mob from killing him. They're telling the bloodthirsty mob that, "He is dead, dead, dead!" and swearing by God and everything that's holy that he's already dead. The officer is unconscious, but moves slightly, and the mob is trying to see around the other men. There are other men outside, looking in at the window, and they're telling the others that he's not dead yet. Later, not shown in this video, some men grab a metal butane tank and smash in the officer's skull, killing him. Ironically, the Deputy Chief had issued clear orders to all his men not, under any circumstances, to use live bullets against the mob, and in fact had had all the ammunition locked up. When the mob tried to open the storage area where the ammunition was, he tried to stop them with his bare hands, and ended up losing his life. By all accounts, he was a good man; God rest his soul.

There are many, many more I could show, but I think that's enough to get the gist. Obviously I could have shown them earlier, but frankly I'm deeply ashamed that these are Egyptians committing such atrocities. Even though they themselves don't consider themselves Egyptian and hate Egypt, everybody in it and everything it stands for.

Still, despite all the lies and the disgusting hypocrisy of those who pretend to give a shit about human rights, Egypt is not like them, and they have been given all their rights according to Egyptian and international law. When the judicial process takes its course, if and when those who are found guilty are finally executed, having exhausted all their appeals and received a fair trial, then I for one will have no tears left for them. I already shed my tears for their poor victims.

A final note: since 2011, in the US there have been hundreds of defendants executed. In Egypt? ONE.

On New Year's Eve 2010, for the first time in Egypt's history, a Christian church was bombed, killing and wounding dozens of worshipers. A few days before, "Al-Qaeda in Iraq" had threatened Egyptian Christians with the same fate that had been meted out to the Christians of Iraq. If this ugly crime was intended to divide Egyptians, it had the opposite effect, uniting them as never before. This song was written, arranged and performed within days of the attack. Singers, actors and other performing artists came together in record time, determined to send a united message to the world: "No, and a Thousand Times No." The January 25th Revolution, which erupted only three weeks later, superseded the bombing and grabbed the world's attention. But as I listened to this song again today, I realized that its message has only been confirmed by everything that's happened during the past three and a half years. Its meaning is even more relevant today than it was then. And Egypt's enemies still don't get it.

No, and a thousand times no to the enemies of life
Egypt is magnificent, filled with faith, its Nile the key of life

You live, Egypt, because of our love
Your soil is watered with our blood
And when our nation calls us
We answer the call.

No, and a thousand times no to the enemies of life
Egypt is magnificent, filled with faith, its Nile the key of life.

Muslim, Christian, means "Egyptian"
The blood in our hearts is Egyptian
The light of civilization began in Egypt
And brought glory to the world.

No, and a thousand times no to the enemies of life
Egypt is magnificent, filled with faith, its Nile the key of life

This is a message from the heart of the nation
That we are greater than any adversity
No matter how long it takes
We are capable of repelling all invaders.

No, and a thousand times no to the enemies of life
Egypt is magnificent, filled with faith, its Nile the key of life.

How could we surrender
To divisions that will kill our dream?
Egypt the Noble has taught us
That God is One.

No, and a thousand times no to the enemies of life
Egypt is magnificent, filled with faith, its Nile the key of life.

Oh churches, oh mosques!
Turn to the One God who is listening
To every Egyptian on every street
Our love will save us.

No, and a thousand times no to the enemies of life
Egypt is magnificent, filled with faith, its Nile the key of life.

This week, Egyptian expatriates around the world have voted for their new president. In previous elections, expat voters were allowed to vote by mail, but this time the Electoral Committee has decided that voters have to show up in person at an embassy or consulate to vote.

How do Egyptians vote in a presidential election? When one of the choices is El-Sisi, this is how:

Egyptian-Americans voting at the Egyptian embassy in Washington.

We who live in Egypt will vote on May 26 and 27. I'm already practicing my moves...

Egyptians going to vote in the belly of the beast, Qatar. Qatar dragged out its threadbare cleric, Youssef El-Qaradawy, to declare that voting in Egypt's presidential elections is a "grave sin", forbidden by God Himself (!!) According to Al-Jazeera, Egyptians are failing to show up at the polls, and those few who are, are voting for Sabbahy, the other candidate. In a country the size of a football field, Al-Jazeera has somehow overlooked the large number of Egyptians voting at the Egyptian embassy only a few meters from its own studios. It's easy to see why: the numbers are big, the people are happy, and they're either making the victory sign, or the "C" sign, both of which indicate that they're voting for "CC". This is not what Egypt's enemies want to see, and it's definitely not what they want others to see.

The chants are:

"CC! CC! CC!"

"Raise your head up high, you're Egyptian!"

"Egypt lives!"

"One, two,
Al-Jazeera where are you?"

The song dubbed in at the end of the video is "Teslam El-Ayady", which I posted several pages ago. The Egyptian voters continued to stream into the embassy all day and into the evening. The videos are great (not just from Qatar, but also the Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and New York and all over Europe, Canada, Austrialia, etc), but unfortunately the ones I've seen are not from Youtube so I can't embed them here. I will post some more as soon as I can locate them on Youtube.

Egyptian voters in Milan, Italy, filmed with a web-cam and broadcast live (sorry for the poor quality). They are chanting for El-Sisi and Egypt and against Al-Jazeera and Qatar:

The Egyptian embassy reports that the number of voters in Italy is SIX TIMES the number of those who voted in the 2012 elections that brought Morsy to power, even though this time there is no voting by mail. In fact, it's obvious to all but the most determinedly deluded that all over the world, record numbers of Egyptians are spending money and taking time off from work to travel hundreds of miles to vote in these very important elections, and they're doing it with joy. But, dear American Dream, you just keep reading your precious Jadaliyya (funded by Soros' Open Society Institute), which informs you that Egyptians are miserable, and are boycotting the elections...

Yes, and by all means, keep on posting the propaganda, you know -so it becomes ever more clear just who is on the side of humanity, and who is on the side of the (putative) controllers.

Thanks Alice
All these things will continue as long as coercion remains a central element of our mentality.

Would it be possible to reformat the text so that I could copy and paste lines and sections?
