Which is part of the problem, why contribute if 95% of what you post is ignored or goes unacknowledged?

Myself as someone whose contributions often fail to gain traction... is your self-esteem THAT low...?

Because the words still register, at least sub-consciously, and truth will out in the end.

I got a good laugh out of sempers comment and find the blurting (or stumbling) out of 'truths' to be a useful feature of RI.
All these things will continue as long as coercion remains a central element of our mentality.

Because pointing out that people might not want to join/post if they think they will be ignored is CLEARLY an indicator of ones self esteem. Obviously you've got it all figured out.

Guess I was being a bit of a prick, sorry. But why would you assume you would be automatically ignored here...?

Your opinion of what 'being a dick is', might be different than that of other folk.

Add; Apology accepted.

But why would you assume you would be automatically ignored here...?

I'm not 'automatically' ignored, I assume that some folk enjoy and pay attention to what I write. While others with different or competing pretenses just grit their teeth or put me on ignore.

Still generally, I have been ignored ever since I landed here trying to make the simple point that we do not HAVE to structure our mentality around a split model of reality (nature).

The split is not intrinsic to reality and we can if we so choose evolve our consciousness toward a continuum and relationship based model of reality, that may sustain a greater percentage of the population with dignity, as distinguished from our object oriented model which seems to negate good works with its overlay of, and encouragement of, manipulation and coercion.

That's the trouble, as we all know, with the written word on the internet, as opposed to face to face (or even tele-) comms. I can't say with 100% accuracy that Semper was joking, but having followed his scant but fascinating posts for the last couple of years, I didn't read it as being nasty. Maybe green highlight or a sarc tag would have made the message clearer.

Or maybe he just hates anyone who joined in the last few years. :rofl2 .

And as Sounder said, there may not be a reply to your post, but the words, once read, can't be unread. I've read hundreds of posts with no comment of my own but they're in filing system of mind.

I was once meant to look like a fool (or something else  ) by someone here ...he went back and posted all my threads he could find that got no responses ....must have took hours to do....by nesting my stuff with other threads he made the excuse that he was not doing it just to me but it was done immediately after a long dragged out fight with me in GD.....that's how I know for sure he was trying to make me look like an idiot.....

and of course he continues to this day just yesterday as a matter of fact....popping in and out of threads I start with little snide remarks/off topic....calling me names.. trying to be a throne in my side ....if that makes him happy I just feel sorry for him ...get a life.....

and like I told him in his "research" thread....just because I got no responses look at the view count....nobody clicks on one of my posts unless they have some interest in what I have to say.......I'll take 200 looks to one of his responses any day
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.
Don’t forget that.

It is more fun to post when someone replies to you directly - something to keep in mind. Also keep in mind that you aren't necessarily being ignored if no one replies to you directly.

I find there is less discussion than previously, more indiscriminate mass pasting with no attempt to highlight or limit to interesting bits, and also more contentless reactions. There is no reason to expect anyone to engage with posts like that. Not in all threads, though. The paedo and Savile threads are fantastic ongoing conversations where every reply enriches the chat and brings more information to it. I wish there was more of that.

I know, right? One of the things I miss around here is the humor and wit. Like it or not (Jeff) Jeff's writing still sets a tone for this message board and he has a dark, acerbic sense of humor. It's practically the only sense of humor that makes sense in this world anymore. We seem as a group to have lost the ability to laugh at ourselves and if you can't laugh at yourself you ought not be laughing at anyone else. There are so few members here that I trust to get my sense of humor and not twist it into something it's not. And the list of members that take disproportionate offense at any humor directed at them just grows longer and longer. Norton's one of my favorite posters here because of their sense of humor. Hell, even a complete asshole like mulebone would make me guffaw occasionally, even if somewhat guiltily. I wish people would stop being so sensitive and carrying around grudges for years and forever dredging up real or imagined slights. It makes them seem as though all they do is sit around with the shades drawn nursing their hatreds and plotting petty revenge.

Poor, misunderstood me, eh BPH?
I particularly enjoyed the last line (you know, the line that sets the tone). Nice image implanting.
