You don't need someone in a CIA office cooking up a xenophobic and tribalistic screenplay that celebrates militarism and selling the CIA as basically the X-Men.
There are scores of people willing to do that, and are doing that for free.
There are even scores of people who wish they were a CIA project gone wrong.
(Again, not to say the examples of American Sniper and The Interview weren't, or didn't have advising from such sources, its just that Paddington the Bear and a lot of others most likely didn't.)

I remember having this conversation with Hugh.
That after awhile a generation would grow up with such media saturation, CIA controlled or otherwise, that they would just create the desired memes themselves, and would need very little oversight from any particular handlers.

Having said that:

I mean the apparatus to make sure that 90% of all mass market films were psyops would require Stalin like control. You can't have that without the populace knowing basically that all films are propaganda, and so there really isn't any conspiracy if everyone knows.

Really? Where is the factual evidence for this assertion, apart from 'common sense'?

And what, pray, judge, do you require evidence of, that having 90% films be psyops would require Stalin like control or rather that is that were the case 90% of the populace would be aware of that? Or maybe I should get busy compiling evidence for both?

See in the old days it was on the person making grandiose claims to provide factual evidence. Wouldn't someone need factual evidence if they were claiming that 90% of all mass market films are psyops (grandiose claim)? Wasn't that the unsuccessful legacy of Hugh? Or are you really going to argue that the claim that 90% of all mass market films are psyops is not unusual? And as for requiring Stalin like control to be so, wouldn't that level of involvement be impossible to contain from the public? I mean you would need the majority of the public to administer the program. Think of the infrastructure authoritarian countries need(ed) to keep tabs on such things. Communist Albania, Communist Romania, Communist East Germany, Soviet Russia, etc Everyone knows because at some level everyone has a relative in "the biz". Previous experience (history) supplemented with consideration of contemporary logistics, though, I guess is just common sense and not the Secret Manual of Hollywood Psyops.

Here are the top grossing films of 2014: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=2014
If 90% of them are psyops it should be pretty easy to identify which are the 10% that are not, don't you think?

Indeed Sir, I am a fairy-headed dreamer, a sillyheart and an improbable romantic. I dismiss not, that which I have not seen or experienced myself, but remain open to possibility in what our limited senses decode as an infinite universe. Something impossible today will be commonplace tomorrow.

You're right, of course - especially so here, amongst the logic and reason of a system that breeds reality in cold, hard figures and disparages flights of fancy.

Q. What happened to Hugh Manatee?
A. In a last attempt to spread his theories he incubated himself in new hosts on the forum and slowly grew until now when he has fully taken control of their bodies and minds.

That's hilarious.

His views do seem to be similar to those of a cult leader. "You must preserve your mind from those who are trying to steal it"

Maybe we have a Cult of HMW here and never even knew!

Thanks.

A moderator wants a thread to stop in an appeal to protect the feelings of a banned contributor? Considering there is another very similar thread in which no appeal has been made? In the face of numerous posters who have been minimalized by apparently drunken obscenity laced tirades from entities who always seem to get a free pass to express their "opinions"? At the very least HMW adhered to the anti-fascist tome of this board, why some couldnt simply skim or skip the leaps of logic he sometimes professed, well i suppose that inability is at play here and now.
Project Willow, I dont really know you(I like your artwork). This ignorance on my part allows me to "Just let it go, okay?". But if I drop out of this thread, and post similar thoughts on that other thread, will you again request we just let it go? If so I would surmise that your caring is not aimed at HMW, It is aimed at me, and not in a good way.

Personally, in Hughs regard, I've always sequestered commitment as a valid but minor peripheral influence on social flux. I've studied fools in general and holy fools in particular. Intensity past a certain cerebral watershed lapses into comedy.Maintaining that requires commitment. Where that watershed lies? Obviously an individual choice. As someone historically interested in comedy I just admire the commitment and it's various responses. Also the hamfisted use of such a laden word as 'martyrised' had me clinging to the edge of my soap opera bar stool. Yes, Hugh, like the original Jesus was a gibbering threat to the status quo and yes his exclusion from an internet bb is indeed akin in metaphoric terms to his destruction as a viable biological entity.

It wasn't about you, and it was meant for both threads, which I should have combined days ago. I've done so now, and the appeal remains an appeal, and as such, many will ignore it. Please do not hesitate to report apparently drunken obscenity laced tirades whenever you see them.

You know, I don't care if someone is a "cult leader" because I feel I can tell the difference -- just try and get me to "believe". Bring your cult to me and I will still exchange with you commonsense. I think Hugh basically had a lot on his mind, like most of us do. Having a lot on your mind should not be a detriment to exposition. I cannot stand in judgement of anyone. Sure, I can make a judgement call, but I will never judge the soul behind the words. Number one is that there are no enemies and that is something that I'm not saying, but that the universe is saying.
There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi
