Though the US has tried to put a game face on, it's clear to everyone involved that this is only the latest of many slaps. (These include the recent agreement between Egypt and Russia to drop the US dollar in their bilateral trade and tourism, and for Russia to supply Egypt with its own advanced war-planes and other weapons, in addition to contracts involving massive industry and agriculture and infrastructure projects, and the recent rapprochement between Germany and Russia).
France is one of the countries that the US has been edging out of the Middle East and Africa, along with Germany and of course Russia and China.
On edit: semper occultus, I had to google "AQAP". I had no idea what it stood for. It's always been referred to by its full name as "Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula", never by any acronym. Speaking of acronyms, it was interesting how President Obama suddenly switched, a few months ago, to using the acronym ISIL. That could be because the results of googling ISIS sometimes included "Israeli Secret Intelligence Service", the Mossad's name in official US-Israeli communications.
Denmark votes against recognizing Palestine

Despite parliament shooting down a proposal from the left-wing to recognize Palestine now, the foreign minister has opened the door for Denmark to do it sooner rather than later.

Denmark will not recognize Palestine: PM (29 Oct 14)
A bill that called on Denmark to recognize Palestine as a state was shot down in parliament as expected on Thursday.
But despite the no vote, the foreign minister nonetheless suggested that Denmark could be a step closer to recognizing a Palestinian state.

In a departure from the Danish government’s previous statements, Martin Lidegaard said Denmark is prepared to recognize Palestine even without a two-state solution firmly in place.
“We are in line with the many countries who feel that this is such an important decision that we should wait to make it until we feel like it can actually affect the peace process. We don’t think that is now, but on the other hand we don’t necessarily think that we need to wait until the end of the peace process,” Lidegaard said during Thursday’s debate, as quoted by Politiken.
Later taking to Twitter, he “supported” recognizing Palestine but only “when it can contribute to peace”.
“I don’t think that’s now. It requires the EU,” the foreign minister wrote.
The advocacy group ActionAid Denmark (Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke) on Thursday handed Lidegaard a petition with around 35,000 signatures calling for Denmark to recognize Palestine.

@ZaidJilani · Shortly after ISIS kills Jordanian pilot, Netanyahu uses a Jordanian song to portray ISIS allying with the left in campaign ad.

He was on a sortie near the Jordanian-Syrian border, when he witnessed a US plane dropping supplies on an ISIS terrorist camp. He reportedly took photographs and described what he saw. His communications were intercepted by either Israel or the US. In either case, his plane was shot down by a ground-to-air missile far more advanced than anything currently available to ISIS. He parachuted, and landed in the Euphrates, from which he was taken by the ISIS terrorists. BTW, without exception, all those who saw the video were convinced that the masked ISIS terrorists who appear in the video are not Arabs. Once again, their body language is alien. And there has been quite a bit of black humor circulating about all those orange jumpsuits, in cut and color exactly like the ones used by the US, which are so readily available to ISIS.
In any case, one consequence of this horrific murder is a noticeable change in the Jordanian military's conduct of the war against ISIS. Whereas previously thousands of air raids by the US-led coalition did very little damage to ISIS, and on the contrary, "accidentally" contributed tons of supplies, weapons and ammunition that helped the terrorist organization entrench and expand its control over Arab territories, the Jordanians suddenly started to really pound the ISIS positions. This has also had an effect on the diplomatic front, with Jordanian-Egyptian relations becoming much closer than before. Egypt had refused to join the US-led coalition, because (rightly, in my opinion) it is viewed as a scam to extort as much money as possible from the Arabs, which the US/Israel are trying to prolong as much as possible by largely leaving ISIS unmolested and even supplying it with all the necessary weapons, logistics and supplies to pursue its anti-Arab/Muslim agenda.
Netanyahu’s campaign video: Liberals to let ISIS into Israel
Published time: February 16, 2015 00:03
Benjamin Netanyahu has released yet another campaign video which has stirred Israel. The footage presents his Likud party as the only safe pair of hands against terrorism, claiming the left-wing opposition will let Islamic State militants into the nation.
Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants are advancing in Syria and Iraq, prompting not only international efforts to stop them, but also spreading fear through media with countless reports on executions of homosexuals, as well as those who smoke or use mobile phones.
In a controversial move, Netanyahu’s Likud party has decided to capitalize on those fears ahead of the Knesset elections set for March 17.
I noted the fluent English spoken by the leading terrorist, and wondered why it was so much better than the English spoken by Arabs who`d been educated in American schools. I wondered what professional studios and cameras and editing equipment are available to the terrorists of ISIS.

Once again, as in the video of the Jordanian pilot, the passivity of the victims is bizarre and incomprehensible. No way would they just sit there, patiently submitting as their heads were sawed off with knives.
