Quite literally just finished listening to this video. Ive wondered whos thoughts I''d been "channeling" recently.

All Americans are living on the democratic/republican plantation

Very pertinent little 20 minute cameo here.

When youve been looking circumspectly at our history as a species for as long as I have now, and you have only just heard of Larry Pinkney, you have to understand how much there is still to learn. :partyhat ( the hat on the emoticon shoulld have a D on it in this instance)

Has anyone here read Carl Bernstein's A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton?

It fell into my hands a couple of years ago, and I asked myself, "Do I need to read this?" I'd read about the lamp-throwing in reviews, so I didn't read the book. But it's up there on a shelf. Waiting. Taunting me. Because I'll open it the day Hillary is annointed "frontrunner."

Thanks for link to the Pinkney video, Slim.

Corbett seems to be consistantly hitting the mark, recently. I guess eventually we'll (' we'll ' meaning a majority) will be forced to confront this uncomfortable state of affairs that has been guiding our development for a long, long time. Old habits die hard, as the saying goes.

I find the discussion of political candidates within the binary paradigm (beyond the evil that they do in my name, on the orders of someone else) utterly pointless now.

My situation is pretty much exactly the same, except I started reading it before the first Obama selection only to stop after some tens of pages. It's written engagingly enough and could contain some useful tidbits. It IS a bit of a doorstopper. "Taunting" is about right.

I've always found his million dollar smile (that usually comes like a lightning flash out of nowhere) disingenuous, douchebaggy and downright disconcerting. Something about the guy...

Well that explains the embedded speech in a great song I'll add below. I always wondered who the speaker was about mid way in.

There is no me. There is no you. There is all. There is no you. There is no me. And that is all. A profound acceptance of an enormous pageantry. A haunting certainty that the unifying principle of this universe is love. -- Propagandhi

Not sure what is happening here but looks funny:

...from the Comments.

For whatever it's worth, another Commenter says of Biden:

He's from Scranton, PA. Specifically the Greenridge section. EVERYONE in Greenridge does this. EV.ER.EE.ONE. One of my best friends at work, Brian, is from Greenridge, and we call him "Biden".

Brian is the nicest, most caring guy and whenever you talk with him, he's an attentive listener, concerned, and he puts his hand on your arm, back or shoulder and says either "Buddy", or "GodBlessYa" - both Biden-isms.

But they're not Biden-isms, they're Scranton-isms. Specifically, Greenridge-isms.

It's just that way here. If you've not been here, you won't get it. I met Joe at a book signing at Borders after he dropped out of the 2008 race. There were maybe 30 people there. He wasn't running for anything, there was no dope at all that Obama was looking at him, because Obama wasn't even that serious yet. But he treated those 30 people like visiting heads of state. He's a genuinely great guy.

FWIW - Hillary is also originally from Scranton, though she didn't live here as long. Also, she's from the other side of town, so no touching.

I first really noticed Biden's blindingly white teeth and smile when I happened to see him on C-SPAN grilling Condi Rice in Senate committee. He posed a "gotcha" question then leaned back and smiled this huge dazzling smile.

(To compare creepiness, I had never seen Condi Rice facing a Congressional committee before that, and she looked so utterly ghoulish I was sure that any moment her face would start to peel away to reveal green lizard scales. The way her eyes slowly looked up from her notes reminded me of some of Linda Blair's expressions in The Exorcist.)

(Good time to say here that to obsessively insist that any reference to "reptoid aliens" means "Jews" is just fucking stupid and insulting.)

Okay -- back to bashing Hillary! :yay

Biden and Hillary both disturb me at a visceral level. Far more than any used car salesman, ever. Thanks for the Larry Pinkney video, Slim.

I completely agree. It makes me almost literally ill that the corporate media circus is trying to resurrect her political career by shilling her name out as a Senatorial prospect in my state. That alien fuck belongs in a penitentiary.

Hillary Clinton's grandmother gambit BBC News 20 Feb 2015

"One of the few times Mrs Clinton showed a more personal side was when she choked up while talking about why she was running for president - and it resulted in an overnight boost in her fortunes.

"Some people think elections are a game, lot's of who's up or who's down," she said. "It's about our country, it's about our kids' futures, and it's really about all of us together."
