Remembering Legendary Detroit Activist Grace Lee Boggs (1915-2015)

Democracy Now! has learned the longtime Detroit activist and philosopher Grace Lee Boggs died this morning at the age of 100. "She left this life as she lived it: surrounded by books, politics, people and ideas," said her friends and caretakers Shea Howell and Alice Jennings.

Grace Lee Boggs was involved with the civil rights, black power, labor, environmental justice and feminist movements over the past seven decades. She was born to Chinese immigrant parents in 1915. In 1992, she co-founded the Detroit Summer youth program to rebuild and renew her city.

Let's hope - if it ever happens - that a potential 'messiah' appears outside the USA.

To serve US interests, I have little doubt that if he were alive and stirring up change today, Ghandi would have been branded right-wing, (with it's attendant anti-semetic and nazi undertones) or 'undemocratic' or 'despotic' by the US msm. Completely untrue, of course. Costless, easy slurs that can incite a great deal of hatred amongst the peasants.

Mind you, if a messiah appeared outside of the US, the US would simply drone strike or saturate bomb wherever the messiah resided.

We probably aren't going to be saved by a messiah any time soon.

This sounds like a bunch of hippie-spiritual pie-in-the-sky kumbaya woowoo...

and I am all for it.
