Diamanda Galas, famed avant-garde performance artist, composer, keyboardist, and vocalist has been described as “capable of the most unnerving vocal terror.” Musicologist Susan McClary writes that Galas “heralds a new moment in the history of musical representation.” Focusing on themes of suffering, injustice and despair, her works are characterized by visceral shrieks and wails reminiscent of glossolalia, or “tongues.” She has collaborated with Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, and her work has appeared in such mainstream films as Natural Born Killers and Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula.
This month Galas is performing at Cannibal Club on Friday and Saturday nights.

is this a Hoax? Perhaps someone here at RI knows Diamanda Galas and can have her confirm wether or not the Cannibal Club is ‘legit’. With so many super-connected RI sleuths located all around the world, it would seem a modest proposal to me. Perhaps Diamanda Galas could even sign up at RI to shriek and splatter blood and tell us how much human flesh tastes like pork etc.?

Also, if anyone has any rough estimates as to how long the populations of LA and NYC could be sustained by the population of say...Montana, let me know.

Our avenues of procurement vary. Most of the businesses and institutions who supply us prefer to keep those relationships discreet. On the individual level, bodies are often bequeathed to us. For some, this is a way to supplement life insurance and offset funerary expenses. For others, such as Cannibal Club member Gwendoline Fenwich, who was served to her friends and relatives at the Club in January of 2008, being prepared as a meal, and thereby reborn into the bodies of the living, is an attractive alternative to the more the traditional practices of burial and cremation.

I don't have a problem with people eating human flesh, or with people leaving their bodies to cannibal clubs.

Diamanda Galas is interesting, though:

Galás was a premed and then biochemistry student at Revelle College at UCSD. Though she became involved in the neurochemistry department at the UCSD medical school, she became aware during this time that what she really wanted to do was to use herself as a guinea pig.

“That was not an unpopular concept in the ’70s,” she says, “and so that is what I did. This led to a complete destruction of my previous ideals and put me in the perfect place for vocal research later, although at the time I was exposed to Pasolini, Lilly, B.F. Skinner, Janov, Nietzsche and so on. But I had the uncomfortable feeling that I had no idea how to combine research with music-making until the vocal experimentation work was begun six years later.”

To be fair, though: that error is more likely the result of transcription / dumb editing than any action on behalf of the interviewee.

I find "human leather" a lot more plausible, on the Nightmare Capitalism spectrum, than full-on cannibalism.

I also find I am tempted to set something like this up, simply in order to watch the videos Anti-NWO Christians make about it on Youtube.
