I'm getting pms telling me that RI has a tradition of targeting mind control survivors, and most have left. I'm new here, and frankly I don't care.

Well, a couple things: I salute you for sticking around, and fuck, that hits me like a ton of bricks.

I don't know how I could have expected to curate or maintain something better than that, but I did aspire to it. (I definitely don't see my role here as leadership or control.)

I often scroll through the huge hulking expanse of subforums and...well, keep scrolling, mostly.

Arf. I don't see how RI, as a public, google-indexed-daily-ass internet forum open to the public, can serve as a safe space for MC survivors. Even just to allow for open commentary on the trigger-tastic, handler-saturated edifice of pop culture would have to rule that out, right?

Another thought that has, again and again, restrained my ModFinger on this thread: "This is online. This could have been an email thread." How am I going to limit access to this? Personally, I'm 100% fine with treating this thread like a slow-motion podcast and removing myself from the equation as much as possible, but I'm not going to restrain anyone else from engaging with you -- you meaning anyone here -- like an open comments thread.

I'm sorry but I am doubting your pm story (I don't know anyone here that would send you such pms and it sounds like a critique of Wombaticus Rex moderating and I take great exception to someone coming here and trashing him....he is an amazing moderator and this place would be non existent without him DO NOT INFER ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT HIM ..but I will tell you one thing for sure .....harassment?... stand in line ..it kinda goes with the territory here ..trust me I know of what I speak ...RI can be a tough place sometimes.. one needs to be a grownup with balls to survive here...covert policy ..that claim really pisses me off

I would agree it's more than improbable, but perhaps easy to confuse "infiltration" with "ownership" for someone who hasn't spent time here. I don't suppose anyone would question that RI has been "infiltrated," it being an open forum and all.

well it shouldn't be too difficult to find examples of survivor harrassement here....I would like to see some if one is going to make that accusation..so far I am unaware and I believe Womby would not let that happen

Again, the big point that I want to make is that while RI is open to the reality of MK/MC, it's also open as a system. We cannot and do not provide a secure space for survivors here. That's an altogether different animal from "online parapolitics discussion forum."

Yep. It's how/why I ended up with a private forum back in the stormy weather day; not that it was expressly for survivors, but because at a certain point, patterns and issues start to emerge and an open discussion board is not the place for that.

I think there's got to be a thick and blurry gray area between active harassment by design, and people being triggered by their own unconscious "stuff" and trying to shut down the conversation, whether it's about MKULTRA folk singers or transgender or whatever. Just as there's a pretty gray blurry area between a survivor of mind control-based sexual abuse, per se, and survivors of, you know, just being born on this planet.

Some discussions are just not meant to be held in the open. That doesnt make them less powerful. There are many channels, not all of them meant to be visible or audible. On the other hand, some private talks may have reached the stage where they need to cross over from Mother to Father.

I have no doubt that there could be individuals here who might try to convince other individuals that RI had a "covert policy" of harrassing MK survivors. I compare the likelihood of such a covert policy with odds that the Earth is flat.

It'd be very interesting to know who sent such a private message. I'd tell the moderator about it.

then why are you here and why do you bring it up ...if you are just learning to live with it ..your choice ....to me you are trashing RI and then saying well I'm learning to live with it.....and be a member of a site that you apparently are not happy with which I do not understand

sorry I didn't mean to run you off but I have been here for a very long time....since the beginning and I don't take lightly to RI or it's mods being accused of something nasty by a new person...we are a family here a really unique family and like families members can talk about each other to each other. A new person unrelated shows up and immediately spreads gossip with no evidence..well it ruffles the feathers. There are a couple people here that I do not get along with but I tell you what if someone showed up here out of the blue and started trashing them...they wouldn't be able to find a more sincere friend to have their back

I have trashed no one. Why do you feel trashed? I reported a rumour, yes, after I heard the same thing from 2-3 different lurkers. You have admitted this thread is open and that you can't control all the traffic. And I agree, nowhere on the internet is safe. Nothing is under our control. I never begged anyone to be kept 'safe' -- that word is more ubiquitous than 'Hallelujah" covers and I don't use it.
