Not only does one side of my family come from a pretty similar situation - Irish convicts in Tasmania were free labour and treated brutally. My grandfather was an indentured worker in Fiji. Stolen from his homeland and lied to then forced to work for CSR or landholders. My father has described what Grandad went thru in detail to me, mostly while bawling his eyes out. None the less it wasn't slavery. There were opportunities and a light at the end of the tunnel. Something to live for. My grandad had his freedom by the time my dad was a kid and dad had the opportunity to go to a school with a good (if somewhat biased) education. None opf that would have happened if grandad was a slave.
We are quibbling about tiny details tho, and underlying this was a very real form of racism based on British superiority. The Irish aren't wasps and so they have always been treated badly by British power structures. The pre 20th C British aristocracy thought it actually was better than everyone else on earth. Probably still does. So Irish slavery doesn't actually invalidate Ad's thesis.

That's because they have a polyamorous relationship with sheep.
I can't believe there are no sheep smileys. That genuinely made me laugh out loud. Cheers.

I'm beginning to feel like the constant repetition of the accusation that 'some posters' here represent for far-right ideas, is a sly method designed to elicit the response, non vocalized; Hey, I'm no right wing bigot, OK, I'll read some of AD's material.
Thus one enters the indoctrination program.

Irrespective of whatever AD's 'grand thesis' may be, it's precisely the above-quoted penchant -- along with the onslaught of self-serving similarly-themed OPs -- that I (and apparently some others here) find grating.
No matter. AD will continue to do what AD does. Good luck winnin' the hearts and minds with that M.O., however.
