Oh, and Prince died on the 90th birthday of a Queen. Niagara Falls turned purple Thursday night to honor Queen Elizabeth on her 90th birthday; however, reporters were thinking that illuminating the falls with purple lights was in honor of Prince. All the world will be playing Purple RAIN - that's ROYAL PURPLE REIGN.

An interesting coincidence to be sure. Talk radio host "The Spaceman" did a little rant about this Saturday night. Discussing the origins of the colour purple, and how it's a colour of Royalty and connections to the artist formerly known as Prince. I wish I could remember some of the finer points now, or that the spaceman did recaps in a blog article. Purely conjecture IMO but he was trying to make a connection that Prince's death may have been some sort of a message or sign to be shared among TPTB. A little something for the Royal deatheaters I guess, if you wanna go there.

RIP to the prince of pop funk and soul. You can't go too far without someone telling an eccentric story about an chance encounter with Prince. A true artist and spaceman himself.

-- edit -- found a youtube of the radio show "A view from space", in case anyone wanted to further roll down the conspiracy path... to be taken with however many grains of salt you may see fit in indulging conspirtainment.

No disrespect intended, just wanting to share a filtering guideline that I find useful. If a title, article, or video contains the word "Illuminati", the noise-to-useful content ratio almost always favors the noise.

Guilt, because drugs, probably. Could his friends have done more to help? Doubts will linger in cases like these.

For what it's worth, I've written my own remembrance over at my main blog, Daily Dirt Diaspora. The link is http://dailydirtdiaspora.blogspot.ca/20 ... -2116.html but it's pretty short so I guess I'll just paste it here.

PRINCE (1958-2016)

Lemmy. David Bowie. Keith Emerson. Gary Shandling. And now, Prince, The Purple One. His Royal Badness, is gone. Snatched away from us during what seemed like a career upswing, at a time when most everyone was prepared to, even if begrudgingly, admit his objective greatness and the legitimacy of his claim to the title of bona fide Musical Genius.

A prodigy with (thankfully) a bit of a Napoleon complex, Prince wasn't just a multi-instrumentalist; he was a master of multiple styles, as well. He had the funky groove of a young James Brown. He had amazing and intuitive Jimi Hendrix-like guitar chops. He had an experimental drive and force of will not unlike that of Frank Zappa, with whom he also shared a hatred of Warner Bros and a lifelong devotion to maintaining a racially and sexually integrated touring band. Also, like Zappa, he could be a strict disciplinarian, was incredibly prolific, and died far too young, with much left to do, and much of his life's work sealed in a vault, waiting to be discovered.

Image-wise, Prince played the gender-bending game more successfully than anybody else, surpassing even the great David Bowie, if only because the latter was so alien that he often transcended sexuality completely, whereas Prince at his best was able to bring a visceral erotic dimension to the numinous... no small feat. And he did it all while flaunting a sleek, tight, unmistakably masculine physicality not unlike that of his fellow diminutive, Bruce Lee.

And style! From the first glimmers of his super-stardom, the album 1999, Prince dressed and carried himself as though he were some kind of sexual superhero, or an ambassador from alternate, funkier, sexier dimension. He was an urban Dionysus, a sophisto/aristo avatar of the Great God Pan. The man was a fucking giant and, if the legends are to be believed, he was also a giant of fucking.

For those of us who didn't know him on a personal level, perhaps the most inspiring aspect of Prince's life is that he was an artist, all the way. Yes, he had raw talent, seemingly gifted by God or Mother Nature with musical abilities beyond that of his fellow humans. And that alone would have been enough for most of us. Not for Prince. He didn't spare himself the disciplinary rigors through which he put his band mates. He never stopped sharpening his chops, honing his craft, reading, learning, investigating, and applying the fruits of his efforts to the incredible gifts that he made. For his audience; for us. For you.

And now he's gone.

This essay by A.J. Hartley, titled "Bowie, Prince, and a Note to (Baffled?) Millennials" does a pretty great job of articulating what it is that a lot of us are feeling these days, and of enumerating the evidence that we have, in fact, turned some kind of collective, cultural corner. I mean, intellectually, we all understand that time marches on and death claims us all--even the most legendary--but there's more to it than that.

Personally, while "Purple Rain" was a favorite of mine back when it was a favorite of everyone else's, I would never call myself a super-fan. Which is why I'm finding it difficult to understand why his death has affected me as much as it has. Memories of his music keep coming to me in waves, breaking in sadness on the Heideggerian shores of Dasein. And even though "Purple Rain" definitely makes the short-list of songs in the running for Absolute Perfection status--up there with the likes of "Hallelujah", "He Stopped Loving Her Today", and "Ace of Spades"--I can't help but think he would have wanted his fans to remember him, at least in part, as the sexy motherfucker he presents in the video for "Kiss".

Here it is. Sorry for the bad quality. Copies keep getting taken up and pulled down over copyright infringement, which is kind of cuckoo for a promotional video, but there you go.

Watch, listen, enjoy, and remember.

There's was another man in the 'musical arts' who died a few days ago...
The THIRD member of NEGATIVLAND to die!
His name was Richard Lyons, but us hardcore fans knew him as both PASTOR DICK, & Dick Vaughn!
He was the member responsible for finding the record that contained the man yelling, "CHRISTIANITY IS STUPID!"...
The band would create a song to go with the sample that would change their career forever!
Oddly, a guy from FORBES wrote an article comparing him (and the 'band') with Prince!

Well said. Similar mood and orientation I'm in. I think maybe Prince was really one of the remaining "single name artists" worthy of it. You get good enough and people refer to you by one name, Lennon, Dylan, Elvis, Hendrix, Cher, etc. During the 80's a few artists tried to "brand" themselves with the one name moniker, like Bono, Sting, Madonna and Prince, which seemed like a convenient way to pre-build the legend, but both Madonna and Prince were (this may seem strange to believe today) paradigm breaking. Madonna was seen as literally the Whore of Babylon incarnate, today every new young woman packaging her sexuality with her music seems to be taking a page from the Grand Madam and with little to no turbulence, while Madonna was vilified. Never mind the Sex Pistols, Madonna had parents battling their young daughters about how they couldn't wear lingerie to school. Madonna was literally the punchline to every joke implying someone was a whore and she totally flirted with mixing the sacred with the profane, by intermixing sexuality and religion.

I think Prince did something similiar, but the inverse, he was able to make the edgy and freaky somehow acceptable and digestible, making the profane somehow sacred.
I know kids who watched Purple Rain with their family growing up, and a lot of the more explicit content was excused because "that's just Prince".
He was such a hybrid of musical, gender, fashion styles that in the end he was just Prince. He couldn't seem to be anyone else, couldn't help but skirt boundaries and go in the areas he would.
I think that is why he was so accepted but also a conundrum/challenge at the same time for so many. People like straight binary categories, black/white, masculine/feminine, straight/gay, rock/country, etc. Prince was a dweller on the threshold and his artistry excused many of his trespasses on norms that other lesser artists or imitators would have lost fans over.
There is a great Sinbad sketch where he talks about going to a Prince concert and he's says, (paraphrasing), "You know how Prince can be, he comes out and is rocking it, and then he's got to turn around and show you he's wearing a thong, and jiggle his ass cheeks at you, damn Prince."

You can only get away with that if you are the best at what you do. And he was. He was the cream.

Did Prince die intestate?

Prince died without a will, sister says

"Prince left no will, according to documents filed Tuesday by his sister, Tyka Nelson, in probate court for Carver County, Minn., where the beloved pop icon died suddenly last week at his Paisley Park compound."

It seems stupid to bring it up again but it was Carl Sagan and the band the Subhumans all the way.

Plenty of white Johos round here, but their literature is the most multicultural stuff i've seen from a cult. Cept their pics of Jesus of course. he's always white and authorative looking, in a gentle way.

Some friends from overseas sent our daughter a little suit thing that is obviously sub humans merchandise. She'll probably grow up into Iggy Azalea.

I live in hard core Indian country and the JVs come door to door.

They are all white and come from south of the Reservation to the Reservation and north of the Reservation where Indians also predominate.

They have Indian themed Watch Tower magazines. I have only met one Indian JV but there are Indian 7DA, AOG, and Shakers.

This J Witness conversation is surprising to me. I almost never saw any J Wits unless they were white crackers. Lots of them. I didn't know it was multi racial all like that.
