Threatened to bury a pig at the site of a proposed mosque.
Claimed a Ukip by-election victory as their own.
Tricked the BBC’s Nick Robinson into posing for a photo with Jayda Fransen forcing him to deny he was a supporter.
Blamed a terrorist attack on chocolate.
Claimed Barack Obama is a Muslim.

Thrown one of our reporters out of their annual conference.
Been banned from Luton for staging a “Christian patrol”.
Repeatedly held protests outside the East London Mosque and called Allah a “false prophet”.
Fallen for really obvious spoof news articles.
Confused kids doing yoga with evidence of “Creeping Sharia”.
Invaded a Halal slaughterhouse and accused workers of working for Satan.

"Britain First" with a picture of Churchill is LOL.

An acquaintance I talk to who is from britain and an unironic fan of the Guardian has been obsessed for a while with the clunky Britain First and feels they are casting a long shadow over the discourse in the UK. And this is a party with 0 seats in parliament, but one that has been used to successfully smear the Leave supporting majority. Psy-ops folks are doing a thorough job over in Blighty.

Alleged killer of British MP was a longtime supporter of the neo-Nazi National Alliance

According to records obtained by the Southern Poverty Law Center Mair was a dedicated supporter of the National Alliance (NA), the once premier neo-Nazi organization in the United States, for decades. Mair purchased a manual from the NA in 1999 that included instructions on how to build a pistol.

The NA may be best-known for the work of its now-deceased founder, William Pierce, a former physics professor who also wrote racist novels. One, The Turner Diaries, tells the post-apocalyptic fictional story of a white man fighting in a race war that may have provided inspiration for Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.

The Daily Telegraph also reported that Mair was a subscriber to S. A. Patriot, a South African magazine published by White Rhino Club, a pro-apartheid group. The club describes that magazine’s editorial stance as opposed to “multi-cultural societies” and “expansionist Islam.” According to the Daily Telegraph, a January 2006 blog post attributed to the group described Mair as “one of the earliest subscribers and supporters of S. A. Patriot.”

So this guy came of age in the late Eighties, in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and had an interest in bizarre niche publications like the South African Patriot?

Wonder where he got weird ideas like that from:

I was actually shocked to hear that the guy appeared in court (giving his name as "death to traitors, freedom for Britain")... One is so used to the perpetrators self-terminating in these events.

Why has the far right made West Yorkshire a home?

In the wake of Jo Cox’s death, attention has turned to Britain First and the many other ultra-nationalist groups that have established a foothold in the area

Image
Jean Leadbeater, right, the mother of Labour MP Jo Cox, with her husband and sister in Birstall.

In late January, a column of demonstrators marched in driving sleet through the West Yorkshire town of Dewsbury, chanting: “Britain First, fighting back.”

Although the group has amassed more than 1.4m Facebook likes, greater than any other UK political party, the number of actual boots on the ground for Britain First, a relative newcomer on the far-right scene, was not that impressive. Just 120 supporters assembled to march from the train station to the town hall, escorted by many police and jeered by many residents.

Yesterday Thomas Mair from the West Yorkshire town of Batley, a mile north of Dewsbury, appeared at Westminster magistrates court and was charged with the murder of MP Jo Cox.

There has been considerable speculation that the 52-year-old may have had links to far-right groups. Whatever the truth, there is no doubt that an extreme right-wing element has established a disturbing foothold in the post-industrial social landscape of West Yorkshire.

According to experts, at least seven far-right groups united by racist ideologies are active in the region, an area dominated by Leeds and Bradford. Activists pinpoint a hardcore cohort of 100 prominent individuals able to cite the broader backing of thousands of social-media supporters.

Among the far-right organisations in West Yorkshire are the virulently anti-Muslim English Defence League (EDL), which claims to have established “divisions” in Leeds, Huddersfield, Halifax and Dewsbury, along with the British Movement (BM), a small but ultra-violent group considered extreme even by the standards of the British far right.

Other organisations include National Action, a neo-Nazi nationalist youth movement that openly advocates violence and whose strategy document reportedly makes reference to Hitler.

The neo-Nazi National Front, which advocates repatriation for non-whites, has a presence. Anti-racism activists also point to the Britain Democratic Party, a modest organisation founded by a group of former BNP politicians including Andrew Brons, former MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, who has hosted seminars on racial nationalism. The Yorkshire Infidels belong to a regional network of far-right nationalists whose marches have descended into violence.

There have been at least seven marches by the far right in West Yorkshire during the past two years, including the Dewsbury turnout in January. In May 2015 the EDL marched in Halifax; two months later the National Front demonstrated in Wakefield; and in November the EDL marched again, this time in Bradford in an attempt to provoke the city’s sizeable Muslim community. The Britain First demonstration cost £445,000 to police.

According to Prevent, the government’s counter-extremism programme, the region’s small but determined far-right nexus has led to far-right extremists accounting for half of all referrals in Yorkshire to its counter-radicalisation programme. Matthew Collins of anti-fascist group Hope Not Hate said: “West Yorkshire has always been active. When it comes to getting numbers, the north-west and the north-east are the hotspots, but Yorkshire always manages to get the numbers out.

The fluidity of membership among the network of Britain’s far-right groups is one recent trend tracked by anti-racist campaigners, who describe seeing the same individual attending a demonstration by the pro-Israel EDL and shortly afterwards marching with the antisemitic National Front.

“Everybody goes anywhere, it doesn’t really matter if one day they’re on an EDL march, the next on a neo-Nazi march. It’s not just the left living in post-ideological times, it’s also the far right.” The ideology to which Collins refers is the movement’s once-dominant doctrine of confrontational race war in which the state is considered a legitimate target, a stance articulated by Combat 18, a violent neo-Nazi group that emerged in 1992 and whose support has dwindled.

“Instead of having an overwhelming belief in the supremacy of the white race, they are more drawn to conspiracy theorists,” said Collins. “The far right in this country has shifted from out and out white supremacism towards anti-liberal ideas – it has shifted towards the Daily Express, Daily Mail editorials, as opposed to the traditional neo-Nazism,” said Collins.

Why West Yorkshire? Some speculate that the region’s high Muslim population has amplified far-right sentiment, giving Islamophobic groups a visible “enemy” to rally against. In Bradford, for instance, nearly one quarter of the population is Muslim and, overall, Yorkshire and the Humber has a Muslim population of 6.2%, compared with the UK average of 4.5%. But those statistics cannot provide the whole explanation.

“It’s got heavy pockets of Muslim communities, although so does the West Midlands, as does London, so that doesn’t really add up. The fact endures that there are many far-right groups active in West Yorkshire,” said Collins.

The region has long been viewed by mainstream right-wing parties as a natural stronghold. The BNP’s Nick Griffin dubbed the region its “jewel in the crown” more than a decade ago, at a time when it had enough support to contest every seat in some districts, including Leeds. In 2008 the party had 34 candidates in Leeds – one in each of the city’s 33 wards, and one in a byelection, but now the party’s support has dwindled to the point that it is considered irrelevant by many of its former backers.

Groups like Britain First, which critics have described as a fascist paramilitary group, are attempting to fill the gap. Its organisers are said to have planned an “unprecedented” number of events in the region during 2016. Its tactics are, to say the least, unsophisticated. Leader Paul Golding threatened last year to bury a pig at the site of a proposed mosque in the West Midlands.

According to campaigners, it is the existence of Redwatch, whose organisers are based in West Yorkshire, that encapsulates far-right hostility towards the left and liberalism. The website Redwatch publishes photographs and personal information relating to alleged far-left and anti-fascist activists, typically targeting officials, advocacy groups, trade unions and hostile media.

“They continue to publish the details of people, MPs, councillors, trade union activists and it still hasn’t been dealt with,” said Collins.

One aspect of the far right that has disappeared is West Yorkshire’s network of “book clubs”, where activists disseminated supremacist literature or imported race-war material from the US. One popular title, still available to buy online, is March Upcountry by Harold Covington, described on a message board of the supremacist organisation Stormfront as being about increasing “the effectiveness and influence of the worldwide White, Aryan resistance movement”.

The far right in West Yorkshire also has links to the US with the National Alliance, a once-prominent white-supremacist group based in West Virginia, whose British representative, according to Hope Not Hate, lives near Leeds.

Many believe that the threat from the far right has been consistently underestimated compared with Islamism, and in particular its capacity for “lone wolf” attacks. In 2013 Charles Farr, then director-general of the UK Office for Security and Counter Terrorism, warned that the threat from extreme-right-wing lone wolves was increasing. Many of the largest caches of arms found in the previous five years had been connected to the far right.

A recent study by the Royal United Services Institute accused western governments of neglecting the threat of far-right lone actor terrorists, with almost a third in Europe since 2000 having been motivated by extreme-right-wing beliefs, compared with 38% inspired by religion.

Former Conservative Party chair Baroness Sayeeda Warsi has defected from the Leave campaign and opted for Britain to remain within the EU.

She cited "hate and xenophobia" as the reasons for changing her position.

Her decision came after she saw Nigel Farage's controversial 'breaking point' poster, which was widely criticised for being xenophobic -- Chancellor George Osborne said it had echoes of 1930s propaganda.

“Are we prepared to tell lies, to spread hate and xenophobia just to win a campaign? For me that’s a step too far.”

Echoing the sentiment of the Prime Minister's impassioned appearance on Question Time, she also accused leading Brexit campaigner Michael Gove of promoting "complete lies".

The loss of Ms Warsi will be a great blow to the Leave side, which has been fighting off allegations of xenophobia and racism.

A daughter of Pakistani immigrants, she was the first Muslim woman to be selected for political candidacy by the Conservative party, and later, the first to serve in the cabinet.

After the recent murder of the Labour MP Jo Cox the media tried to present the murderer as a ‘mentally unstable lonesome gardener’, while there is lots of evidence that he was a politically interested and connected person influenced not only by the extreme right, but first of all by the public ‘migration debate’. In this sense Jo Cox’s death is a collateral damage of the political class’s effort to channel working class anger against ‘migrants’ or ‘muslims’.

There's a class war going on with most of the players fully immersed in ideological components which would leave most of the rest us scratching our heads.

"How many stockbrokers can dance on the head of a pin?"

A little further down to earth, have a look at the spike in elderly deaths in care homes over the last six years, or how many people are dying of malnutrition while sitting begging in front of sports apparel shops on UK streets, surrounded by people too obese to walk from one end of town to the other, carrying bags full of sports wear. If that isn't a culture in some kind of decline, please tell me what is.
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/201 ... 00-meeting

Thomas Mair, accused of murdering British parliamentarian Jo Cox last week, attended a 2000 meeting of British white supremacists that was aimed at building a leading American neo-Nazi’s white power music empire, Hatewatch has learned.

In late May of that year, Mair was one of between 15 and 20 racist activists who convened in a private room at a pub near the Strand, a major thoroughfare in central London, according to Todd Blodgett, an American who was then a paid informant for the FBI and also met with MI5. Blodgett had helped arrange the meeting at the request of William Pierce, then head of the neo-Nazi National Alliance, and paid close to 800 pounds for the space and the food and alcohol that was served.

“Pierce wanted to make inroads with the European market in terms of the music, distribution and getting bands signed,” Blodgett told Hatewatch. “I had started working with the FBI in March of that year and that was one of the first things I told them, that Pierce wants me to convene a bunch of people in London.” Blodgett was sent to London with a group of federal agents who were his controllers, he said.

“From what I could surmise, Tommy Mair was loosely affiliated with the Leeds chapter of the National Alliance,” Blodgett said. “He was a working class kind of guy who I think was very well read. He was self-educated. I remember he talked about a book he read by [David] Irving,” an infamous British Holocaust denier. At one point, Blodgett mentioned Winston Churchill to Mair during the two- to three-hour meeting. “As soon as I said that, he kind of made a face and he referred to Churchill as a kike-loving bastard,” he said. “I still remember that.”

Blodgett’s revelations are only the latest suggesting that Mair, whose alleged victim was a liberal, pro-immigrant member of Parliament, was a dedicated neo-Nazi. Hatewatch published copies of receipts last week that showed Mair had purchased several weapons handbooks and a Nazi book from the National Alliance, which is based in West Virginia, between 1999 and 2003. British media have reported that Mair also subscribed to a pro-apartheid South African publication and that, in the words of The Guardian, police “are believed” to have found Nazi regalia at his home.

Mair is also reported to have shouted “Britain first” as he allegedly stabbed and shot Cox last Thursday. Britain First is the name of a far-right party that is urging Britons to vote to leave the European Union (EU) in a June 23 referendum. British white supremacists despise the EU for facilitating Muslim and nonwhite immigration.

The May 2000 meeting included a number of well-known British racists, Blodgett recounted. One of them was Stephen Cartwright, who was affiliated with the Scottish branch of the British National Party (BNP), an extreme-right party that at the time only admitted whites. The Southern Poverty Law Center, which publishes Hatewatch, has reported that Cartwright spoke to a 1999 meeting in Arlington, Va., on behalf the American Friends of the British National Party (AFBNP). He gave a speech asking for donations to help support the BNP in British elections.

A better known participant in the 2000 meeting, Blodgett said, was Richard Barnbrook, a BNP member who in 2008 won election to a seat on the London Assembly, which has the power to amend the London mayor’s budget and investigate matters of interest to Londoners. At that time, after coming in fifth in the London mayoral race, he was Britain’s most visible far-right elected politician.

Blodgett said that the meeting, although requested by Pierce, was largely organized by Mark Cotterill, a Briton who was in the United States as the head of the AFBNP and working to raise funds for the BNP. (He was later deported for his activities.) Cotterill’s racist network in the United Kingdom arranged most of the details.

At the time of the meeting, Pierce had recently bought Resistance Records, which quickly developed into the world’s leading purveyor of racist and neo-Nazi white power music. He could not enter Britain legally because of his views, but sent a message with Blodgett to the gathering telling them that he would soon be releasing an electronic game to be called “Ethnic Cleansing.” The game involved shooting black and other non-white people in New York City subways to win points.

“Everyone there was giddy about this game,” he said. “Mair was also plainly excited re the efforts that Pierce was making to further penetrate the UK market and his planned purchase of NORDLAND, which was the Swedish equivalent of Resistance Records, LLC.” Pierce did later buy that and another racist European label.

It is now known exactly what Mair’s relationship to the National Alliance’s reported Leeds chapter was. But the Southern Poverty Law Center has records of a number of Alliance supporters in Leeds and its surrounding north-central county, West Yorkshire. Still, Mair’s home in Batley, West Yorkshire, is just nine miles — a 17-minute drive — from Leeds. According to The Guardian, West Yorkshire, whose population is 12% Asian, is a hotbed of extreme-right activity.

Days after the meeting, Blodgett also met with John Tyndall, who had been deposed in 1999 as leader of the BNP and replaced by Nick Griffin. “I asked Tyndall specifically about Mair,” Blodgett told Hatewatch. “Tyndall basically called him a loser on some kind of dole [government aid], something like that.”

Blodgett said that Mair “was a fan of Ian Stuart Donaldson,” who had died in a 1993 car crash. Donaldson was the front man for Skrewdriver, one of the first racist bands of the modern era, and the person who effectively birthed white-power music.

“Mair was easily the quietest, best-mannered guy there,” Blodgett said. “But once he got going — i.e., discussing blacks, Jewish people and other minorities — he was what I’d call ‘all in’ — just like everyone else who attended that gathering.”
