Unrelated to the Dallas shooting, but Deray was arrested like Saturday night (?) in Baton Rouge, and over 100 protestors in the twin cities. There have been so many demonstrations here, including one at like 7am this morning. I'm not sure what the biggest of ours has been, but last night's was huge.

It's okay to admit that we don't know something. That basically my entire point of speaking up; we should stop making assumptions and just admit that we don't know certain things.

Seven police officers on foot plus two police cars turn up there, immediately after the shooting (and many more police cars are visible in the background.)

Heroes of Reason such as Novem5er and Burnt Hill would have us believe that none of those officers even bothered reporting the shooting of a police officer to Police HQ, thus leaving poor Chief Brown entirely in the dark and reliant on Facebook or Twitter or fucking Pokemon Go or something.

Its a great photo. The optics are striking - she looks ethereal and dignified, and they look like extras from a particularly crude police state dystopian movie.

The weird thing is if you watch the two angles side by side they seem to paint a different picture (?)

Chief Brown clearly and unequivocally announced that there were police fatalities in his initial media report, as the situation was ongoing.
That he didn't give the specifics of the exact when and where each officer was shot should not be expected at this point.
The importance you place on the street level shooting was not his priority at the time, perhaps still isn't.
It may well have not been the first fatality.
In fact it appears that there was at least one PD death after the first media response (the negotiator?).

You make as many assumptions about your fellow posters as you do about the media stories we are discussing. Nobody has said Brown wasn't informed of officer casualties. That was the entire point of the statements that were released in print and later in video. Brown initially stated that there were multiple shooters, and later changed it. That means he was either lying (originally or now) or he was misinformed. You are saying it was IMPOSSIBLE for him to be misinformed, therefor he must be lying and, therefor part of some vast conspiracy.

Okay . . . your analysis is noted.

Chief Brown and how the robot bomb came into play-

I was in radio contact with the SWAT team negotiating once we had him pinned down on the second floor of the El Centro College building.

And they began conveying to me that this person was in a gunfire with them – gunfight with them, and he was in a position such that they could not see him. He was secreted behind a brick corner.

And the only way to either get a sniper shot to end his trying to kill us would be to expose officers to grave danger.

The other option was to continue to negotiate.

We had negotiated with him for about two hours, and he just basically lied to us, played games, laughing at us, singing, asking how many did he get and that he wanted to kill some more and that there were bombs there so there was no progress on the negotiations.

And I began to feel that it was only at a split second he would charge us and take out many more before we would kill him.

So I asked – I was planning a press conference. Before I walked out the door, I said “I want a plan when I come back from this press conference to end this.” And I said, “Use your creativeness to come up with a plan to do it.”

When I got back from the press conference, they presented to me what was probably 15 minute plan they put together to improvise our robot with a device to detonate behind the corner within a few feet of where he was that would take him out. And I approved it and I’ll do it again if presented with the same circumstances.

He seemed very much in control and very determined about hurting more officers.

I don’t recall what he was singing or he was saying. We’re trying to get some of our audio transcribed from some of that conversation. But as soon as we do, I’m going to release that because we just believe in transparency as much as possible of all police incidents.

But I just don’t have that here today but I could just tell you he was clear of mind, determined to hurt more officers, and without our actions, he would have hurt more officers.

So we had no choice in my mind but to use all tools necessary. And it was about a pound of C4 to end the standoff.

I just don’t give much quota to critics who ask these types of questions from the comforts and safety away from the incident.

Do you seriously think that cops on the ground, involved in a shootout, are going to take the time to inform their boss about every little detail happening. Brown obviously knew that cops had been shot, but he probably had the sense to not bother his people on the ground with irrelevant ("He was shot on the sidewalk?! OMG!!!") questions until after the shooting was done.

Now that you have some free time on your hands, why don't you piece together a timeline and a map for us?

Oh, and another thing, about the C4 care package (technically a primitive drone strike at an American criminal): It couldn't have gone any other way. If he had survived that he would have been "shot while resisting arrest", and if that failed he would have been found hanged in his cell. Cop-killers don't have the best life expectancy.

Now, about that second video. It is a little different and at first I didn't even see the shooter! I was actually confused about what I was seeing until I imported it into a GIF program and slowed it down. I've cut the video and paused on some frames to make it more clear. Notice the figure in light clothing crossing in front of the pillar right before the police officer is shot. It shows the same thing as the first video. HOWEVER, what is strange is that a second later, a figure in dark clothing walks right past the scene, seemingly very causal. I've paused the frames to show this, and it shows shooter (in light clothing) in the background as the the new figured walks by. Very strange.

Yeah exactly, the guy walks by at close range of where the cop just got shot like he doesn't have a care in the world.

And about the bombing to death of the suspect: wouldn't they want to get the guy alive if at all possible, not for justice, but to extract any and all information out of him they could.

Let's keep in mind we only know what we distantly know. There is no reason to take another's speculation so serious to make it personal. Obviously everyone can read here so I think insults should be out. I want to reiterate that we will never know for sure. But what we do "know" or theorize over should be the most important issue. 8bit on FB shared with me a friend's film of where his friend was. I won't share a link as he thinks it may be "private". Anyway, pure chaos and it definitely appeared that non cops and non-white were hit too.

I have no idea. Imagine if the Aurora theater shooter had prohibited cellphones on amidst the crowd. They said there were multiple shooters there too at first. Police also found a "booby trapped" apartment with "bomb making material" or some shit.
