Well, since the Ignore-function isn't likely to be abolished, I have finally (after he ridiculously claimed that I was offering deadly medical advice...) abolished our foremost abuser of that function, American Nightmare, by applying it to him.

That's a very funny question! You got suspended because of your entire online MO -- the passive aggressive snipes at people, stirring shit up and then acting like you don't see people responding, and overall, maintaining your stellar track record of being the most intelligent and subtle troll we've ever had here at Rigorous Intuition to date (with the possible exception of Jeff Wells, of course -- jury is still out on that one).

A great way to reverse that trend would be to treat the people in this thread who are asking you questions like normal human beings, who are just as smart as you, don't have "problematic" or "questionable" motivations, and would earnestly like answers from you! Give it a shot! Could be exciting.

Right. This used to be a board where psychological abuse was identified, examined and exposed *, rather than tolerated, encouraged and cultivated. It attracted a lot of very sharp, serious, well-informed and genuinely funny posters. Something very bad happened to RI in the meantime, but maybe things are finally going to change for the better now.

*That was just one of this board`s many virtues, just one of the many things that made RI such a valuable resource, and such an exceptionally rare place. A place worth taking care of and defending.

I guess Teh Nightmare had nothing more compelling to move on to, after all... A sad case, really, laboring away at futile copy pasting day after day, for a small readership most of whom he has on Ignore. While I have strong anti-work sympathies, one does sometimes just want to whisper into his ear, "Get a (better?) job!"

I think we need to think out of the box, in non-linear ways.

Posting restrictions won't solve the problem.The poster in question needs help. We could take up a collection to send him to one of the military-style boot-camps they run in Asia to quarantine internet addicts from their compulsive use of technology and reeducate them.

Standard operating procedure on RI is to label anyone who disagrees with the far left position on most things as a neo-Nazi or in cases of feminism, a misogynist.

Er, no. Stop right there. The New RI is already more than rightwing enough. The Old RI was founded and run by a Canadian socialist, and nearly all of the Moderators Jeff chose were women. Those were the best years of this board, not least because they were by far the best Moderators. It used to be one of the glories of this place that women were so numerous and so present here and so unafraid to speak. And not one of them was disingenuous, evasive, smug, insulting, or a bully. Instead, they took care of this place. Changed days indeed.

Practical idea.

I'll bet quite a few of the women who you say used to post here check in from time to time.

So...Why don't you and a few of the long-time posters make a sticky post or a frequently bumped thread with a formal apology for past sexism and cyber-bullying, explaining how you've seen the light and are committed to respecting female posters and feminsm and will do your best to stand up for them when they're attacked by bullies and MRAs (who are not welcome), and that the board just isn't the same without the sisters, etc, etc.

I think it might work and I for one would like to hear more female voices around here.

Speaking of thinking out of the box, I never got a reply to my suggeslion of apologizing to female RI members who were run out of town.

You could entice them with a promise of the only MRA-free conspiracy site on the internet. Getting them back would come at the problem from a different angle. I believe the idea has merit.
