The 'lifestyle' sure fits a spook. On the other hand, I once knew a professional gambler pretty well, he moved to Las Vegas for part of the year, made his money and returned home (fwit this guy was definitely not a spy).
So the gambler story could be true. But the house always wins, and maybe he incurred debts?
I'd say "brain tumor" but he was already kinda weird.
Alex Jones blames leftists, Communists, globalists, ISIS, antifa for Las Vegas shootings
Based on his “own intel” and his “own research,” a revolution is starting. He mentions his CIA and pentagon contacts, without citing any names, in a later video from his Infowars studio.
To Jones, this is just another example of the left starting violent revolution in collusion with Islamic terrorists, citing “racial divides” that are coming from peaceful protests to police violence, and self analysis as a country regarding civil war statues.
“Anything to get the right wing going,” he says. But don’t worry, “The leftists plan to double cross the Muslims down the road,” he says.

While her boyfriend rained bullets on Las Vegas concertgoers, Marilou Danley was traveling with friends half a world away in Japan or her native Philippines, authorities now say.
Danley, who lived with the killer Stephen Paddock, was initially dubbed by authorities as an "associate" of the Las Vegas shooter, partly because her ID had been reportedly used by Paddock to secure the 32nd floor room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from which he killed 59 people and injured more than 500 in the worst mass murder in U.S. history.
Law enforcement contacted Paddock’s friends and family, and Danley, 62, was cleared of any involvement in the shooting, but her exact whereabouts remain unclear. An Australian daily, the Courier Mail, reported that she left for the Philippines two weeks ago. Friends contacted by the paper corroborated statements from Australia’s Foreign Ministry that said Danley, once a 20-year resident of Australia who has lived in Nevada since 2003, was in the Philippines.

Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock wired $100,000 to an account in his live-in girlfriend’s home country of the Philippines in the week before he unleashed the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, according to multiple senior law enforcement officials.
But while officials have confirmed that Marilou Danley was in the Philippines on Sunday when Paddock opened fire on a crowd attending a country music festival on the Vegas Strip, it was not known whether the money was for her, her family, or another purpose.

Could be as simple as sending money to his girlfriend (wasn't she in the Philippines when this happened?), or her family.

Danley, 62, who had traveled to Hong Kong on Sept. 25, could fill in some of the blanks when she returns to the U.S. on Wednesday, the officials said. Her arrival airport was not known.
Investigators believe the couple started dating in spring 2017 and lived together in Mesquite, Nevada.
Danley was not believed to be involved in the shooting "at this time," law enforcement officials told reporters on Monday.
"We have had conversations with her and we believed her, at this time, not to be involved. But obviously that investigation will continue,” Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. "She was not with [Paddock] when he checked in. We have discovered he was utilizing some of her identification."
Danley was initially thought to be traveling with Paddock in Las Vegas. But she was not in the 32nd floor room in the Mandalay Bay hotel that Paddock was using when police blew the door off and barged inside 72 minutes after the first 911 call.
Instead, police found Paddock dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and an arsenal of 23 firearms in the hotel room. They later found 19 more weapons at his Mesquite home.
Investigators still have not determined a motive for the mass murder. The death toll currently stands at 59 but officials have warned that could climb. More than 500 people were wounded.
