There’s a well-rehearsed disinterest in the atmosphere
I don’t know if that’s what this town gave me
Or if it led me here

Another Christmas in L.A
Another pitcher of Sangria
In an empty beach café
Another Christmas in L.A
Hold me tighter Carmelita
I don’t know how long I can stay
-I don't like hoodlums.
-That's just a word, Marlowe. We have that kind of world. Two wars gave it to us and we are going to keep it.

I love this song and no matter how many times i hear it it always makes me well up and emotional - poor Kirsty such a talent lost and mad Shane God knows how he is still drawing breath!
There's holes in the sky where rain gets in
the holes are small
that's why rain is thin.

Yeah it's a tearjerker, but in an honest, authentically felt way. My favourite verse is:

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

Not very much filled with holiday cheer, but luckily the song ends with the NYPD choir singing Galway Bay. :hug1:

How The Handsome Family celebrates the holiday.

For any handsome rovers needing a drink, Cedric Smith offers beautiful, non-Christmas-y, rendition of Carrickfergus, along with Loreena McKinnett singing descant.

They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the virgin birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winter's light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas tree smell
And their eyes full of tinsel and fire

They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a silent night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in father Christmas
And I looked to the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise

I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave new year
All anguish, pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
Hallelujah, Noel be it heaven or hell
The Christmas we get we deserve
-I don't like hoodlums.
-That's just a word, Marlowe. We have that kind of world. Two wars gave it to us and we are going to keep it.

By almost completely disengaging from The Holiday, I'm enjoying the season.

Cheers and sincere best wishes to everyone here and others once here and now out there, somewhere.

Thanks Grizzly for that Loreena Mckennitt vid.

The bell like tones are fitting for Christmas morning.

Happy holidays to all.

May the New Year bring adventures we can handle.
