("Of course we don't give a fuck. Still, we watch." -- Television Nation.)

Switched to Obama.

Suddenly made sense. Of course it's media fluff, choosing the celebrity. Though this one's the tippity-point of the celebrity pyramid, up there with Madonna, Beyonce, Gaga, Michael Jackson, Robert Downey, Tom Brady, Ben Affleck, her husband, and Trump. The demigods who walk among us, etc. etc. Plus she has charisma, no doubt. Supposedly she doesn't want it, but does not duty call? Nation, empire and world at maximum crisis, and with Baron Harkonnen of Orange watching the world burn?

And then I remembered the obvious, and why it's totally plausible: it's a package deal. No one can complain she's never been elected to anything, since that's also true of Trump. No one can say she doesn't have ample direct observational experience of the office. No one can say she doesn't have a maximally experienced closest advisor (and no one cares what we think about his "record"). No plutocrats' council will cancel her for being unvetted or untrustworthy or not enough of a friend to Davos Man. No donors will worry that she'll actually deliver on whatever programmatic stuff she promises to the plebs. And unlike Biden or Clinton, she'll KNOW how to do Hope and Change.

And, of course, it certainly explains the heavy not-so-invisible hand of BHO, who just stopped the act of hiding in the shadows. Narratively I think nothing else compares, it's got all the epic fixings: Obama, Return of the King, led by the Queen, to destroy the Usurper. Wakandan Princess Slays Son of KKK. It's the strongest they can do, a potential landslide. Oh yeah, Biden can be carried along on that, suddenly so not a problem. They'll even forget he's topping the ticket. Maybe they will only first notice he went missing for days when they discover him lost in some closet, locked up and thirsty.

If it happens, you will be able to convince me that the last two, three cycles of the presidential show were a single ambitious kayfabe script, an unprecedented multi-season arc from Trump brandishing the Birther-in-Chief scepter and his humiliation by Obama at the 2011 Correspondents' Dinner all the way to his stunning revenge and felling of the White Queen and on to this fall's World War Wrestlemania: Corona Depression Edition.

So Obama if they decide to win, Klob or Warren if they prefer to lose.

Yeah, I could see that. Remember that I said replacing Biden with a fresh face like KY Governor Beshear was the best case winning scenario. Beshear is probably too good of a person for them in any case and therefore would be treated as Jimmy Carter was.

Pretty much the only thing Biden ever did that stirred even faked enthusiasm was to promise a woman on the ticket. Also may allay the rape accusation problem. At least, temporarily, until it is solved by his tearful withdrawal for health reasons.

I'm going to double down on Klobuchar (though I guess Harris won't be much surprise either.) My first impulse had been Michelle O but I just can't see it happening. This is not a moment for the Obamas who do well as aspirational avatars of a stable (very) upper middle class life but are practically allergic to real struggle which is what's oozing out of every pore country-wide. Not that Klobuchar brings much but that sick husband thing is worth a lot anecdotally.

If he hadn't committed to a woman, my money would be strongly on Castro.

I didn't see the poll at first. I just "voted" (can we trust these results?!) and was amused to see that my purely wishful-thinking choice was the "winner"—a Sanders re-emergence.

Could happen!

I predicted Trump would be the Republican candidate, tho I felt he would be opposing Obama in 2012(either win or lose) The second Trump descended the golden escalator to throngs of paid crisis actor fans I knew he would win the Repub nomination. By Fall of 2015 I pretty much was unwavering in knowing Trump would win being 45(a couple days after the "Pussy Tape" in Oct 2016 I waivered til the Comey/Weiner/Laptop stuff)

Obviously in my 13 years Ive made many wild predictions that didnt come true. Some (my prediction of world war 3 with China, Great Depression 2, collapse of society, and stirred up American civil unrest/civil war 2) seem like they could happen sooner than I imagined.

So 2020 election...Wisconsin was just a tiny taste of the chaos unfortunately. If Biden "wins", the Trump/FOX/etc side will say it was a hoax and demand people be armed and take to the streets to protect Trump.
If Trump "wins", Michael Moore and even mainstream celebs and news anchors will tell people to take to the streets in violent insurrection. And thats not counting if we have any mass shooting/terrorism thats politically motivated this summer. All bets are off. Even Roger Stone is now saying theres no guarantee of Trump winning. Hell the media said Bernie would win the DNC nom back in February. I have a hard time seeing Biden being replaced no matter how obvious his cognitive decline/MeToo nightmare grows. Im still predicting Biden/Harris against Trump/Pence. But as this year and timeline has shown, who the hell knows what could happen. Clearly Obama and Hillary and the neolib neocon side is itching back for power. But I feel our new dark timeline isnt being formed by typical political influencers.

And I'm back off it. Just because it would almost surely work, doesn't mean they will risk it or want to bother with the work in the first place. Making history is secondary, the Obamas already made their bones. It was so tiring. The committee is looking to lose, so they may even let Joe pick his own. Who's likeliest to charm him? Today I'm betting Kamala.

Let's really bet. It's Wednesday. You can change your mind but by Monday you must announce your FINAL answer for VP choice. (There will be one even if another option eventually wins; you can reserve a different option for the later I told ya so.) Winner gets to ban an RI member of their choice. No, ha, sorry, joke. Bad taste. Winner gets... a gala dinner meeting with the nominee for a special discount price of $2800! Ties (two or more with same answer) will be broken by whoever gets closest to a tagline they will use for the VP announcement event (other than "announcement" or the like).

LOL.

Betting markets uniformly say Michelle. But during primary were often running strong for Clinton too. So I'm ruling it out. And it's just too spectacular.

Klobuchar conspicuously showed up with a NYT op-ed yesterday. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/14/opin ... oting.html and it starts to tie-in the sick husband story.

Not to mention, I'd imagine even the very least dead-eyed among the tactical Biden support crew know this is gonna a be a rote one and nothing inspirational. Gven that Biden's bruh years with Obama leave me pretty likely to draw out AA voters against Trump, I don't see Harris being quite so obvious (not even sure Harris could do that anyways). And let's get real - who are the swing voters dems need in November - 1) left coasters and/or those who really want a POC? or 2) white podt-industrial state denizens fromt he midwest etc?

So I can't help it - I'm leavng all my money on Klobuchar. But I'll admit it - I'm bad at this and I also expect to lose.....

Family political dynasties occupying the office of POTUS is troubling to me and wrong in general for the USA: I refer to Bill and Hillary Clinton (and some would support Chelsea sometime in the future); Barack and Michelle Obama; GHWB, GWB, their father and brother Bush; and Donald Trump (who surely intends to set up his spawn for future office and we currently suffer from his nepotism). Post WWII the family political dynasty that almost looked like American royalty (think Camelot) started with the Kennedys, that I favored.

I do not think Klobuchar has a chance and Harris under Biden seems at this moment most likely. However, my thoughts have been that Hillary Clinton would end up being selected as Democratic candidate in a brokered convention. That idea became established in my head back when I thought it likely that Sanders would have a plurality but not a majority of primary votes. But the DNC / Democratic establishment managed to cut Sanders off by candidates that would shift to Biden dropping from the race and Bloomberg entering the fray as a stalking horse.

So now the Washington Generals err Democratic party proceeds on in 2020 to look for the methods to self-destruct and find the means to lose the election to Trump or other reptile nominated by the GOP. Note that election integrity in the USA is close to zero. What if we are still social distancing in November 2020 and the USPO is not functioning for vote by mail? There is the possibility that there will be no November 2020 election and the Constitution-based USA is for all intents and purposed over. We could be very Mad Max by November.

So my guess is Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic candidate and, if so, some GOP pol will replace Trump and win the POTUS. How about McConnell?

Which begs the question of how come except for GOP cultists do so few of us ever get a candidate we actually want? As a voting life long Democratic party member and exclusive Democratic voter, I have never had the opportunity to vote for a POTUS candidate that I actually support.

So we are living a nightmare dystopian science fiction novel. None of us get out alive.

Full agreement with your last line but I don't think Clinton is the harbringer. She's too hated by too much of the right and would invigorate and grow Trump's base.

It's probably Harris. Though I'm sticking with Klobuchar for today.

HRC is hated by many Democrats :mad2 (HRC and Biden supporters would say Russian bots). I detest HRC, she is repulsive to me. I would vote for HRC over Trump or any GOP.

HRC would be a gut-punch. But by far the most interesting.
