Leaving aside the claim that there has been a period of "world peace" under US hegemony, your scenario points to the end of civilization and likely species extinction by spiraling rounds of moronically self-destructive warfare. It's not and cannot any more be for "resources," since its effect is to destroy them and accelerate their depletion. You suggest it is weak ("hippie") to argue that avoidance of war is therefore the rational and moral choice. This maneuver swaps the common denial of the horror for the display of a superior will that can see things at their most hopeless. By calling terminal war inevitable, do you become the strongest and smartest pile of bones here?

I'm really trying to stay in my lane, guys, but the war has broken out. It probably really broke out 20 or 60 or 80 years ago but this latest version has been on the go since Uncle Frank was in short pants. My totally informed only by memes and absolutely no "news" is that Russia's using the states to conduct a proxy war with China, while USreal was trying to pull a number on Iran. He's actually the fucking president. He doesn't seem to know that, he thinks he's still playing it on TV. And the world's supposed to rotate around this and give him confirmation without blowing up and make sure this idiocy (plus the other idiocy about absolute rule and the ability to dissolve Congress whenever he likes) doesn't turn into an open dictatorship and a global confrontation with China with chance of nuclear war. Everyone please pat the baby until it finds some other object to focus on.

And that's the double bind. A month ago, even a few weeks ago, it was a auto-ban time on Reddit or Twitter for merely questioning the origins of Covid-19 pointing to the Wuhan virology lab from early reports that had surfaced. Even now the "Russia is behind everything" folks dont want to hear about China lab theories. However, last night on Fox they had Pompeo and Ted Cruz saying "its clear" China is behind the "accidental" leak of Covid from a lab and intentional coverup with WHO....but THEN they followed it up with reports of China secretly testing nukes and doing naval patrols near Taiwan.

So the double bind being, what if this truly did come from bat coronavirus cave samples from Wuhan Virology, but thats not the full story...and like the lead up to 2003 Iraq, its being used to spearhead us toward the final conflict. rumor has it the US is still interested in taking out Iran, especially as theyre being particularly ravaged by Covid. A war with the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia against Iran, China with Russia playing the random joker wild car feels more real than ever.

Murdoch media going hard on pushing the China is beyond an existential threat. Even if all this was true, a diplomatic solution has to be reached.

We are in "AN OPEN GLOBAL CONFRONTATION WITH CHINA" and have been for decades. China figured prominently into the election of Bill Clinton; it was during that administration that "Unrestricted Warfare" was compiled, completed and published.

Chinese businesses are not neutral companies, they are extensions of a military state with military goals. This is a reflection of post-WWI and WWII US foreign policy, which was run by men eager to sell us out for personal gain. Controlling and compromising the US supply chain and economy was one of them, and we're quite far along down that path, as this ongoing disaster has made increasingly clear. This was enabled by our purported leaders, who profited handsomely along the way.

Its so depressing. I need to find the audio, because despite what people think of him, David Icke was on conspiracy radio shows a week after 9/11 in 2001 saying that "Ultimately this is about a conflict with China down the road". Maybe Adam Curtis can guide us thru the history of China flexing, but I feel conflicted about all this. Ive been talking forever about organ harvesting, rhino genocide, Sudan ethnic cleansing funding, mass Muslim re-education camps, mass suppression of freedom, etc in China...but a war with China would be it. It, as in that's it folks. The "existential threat of their new nukes", harassing Taiwan, and limited hangout of "covering up an accidental virology lab leak of the bat coronavirus" alone is enough to bring us close to a war with China. Add in all sorts of random disparate layers of outside interests, and it gets even more murky.

I said over 10 years ago that China must be laughing at the bank holding so much US debt. Because after two Bush invasion/occupations, it ended up being Chinese oil/mineral/energy companies with the lion share of energy contracts in both theaters.

One more thing, has anyone else reached a "fuck it" breaking point...like a cynical Bill Hicks/Carlin/Chapelle routine kind of nihilistic numbness? My entire social media feeds these days are people doxing and shaming small businesses trying to stay afloat with takeout orders. Its dangerous to romanticize the "right", however so much of the allied "left" are acting like complete jerks with no nuance. Just the anger I see at people walking their dogs with appropriate "social distance". How far will people accept this? I posted how Im not going to agree with people not even being allowed to leave their house to visit a family member or mow the lawn in Michigan. Suddenly im a "white supremist nazi"(even tho ive always been a left leaning poor minority) Most these yuppy yoga fucks gaslighting everyone into "Vote Blue No Matter Who" havent truly let it sink it how many thousands of dead black and brown service workers there are. Its just an inconvenience to their yoga classes and dog groomer barista bars. Oh wait, those businesses are now gone forever. Or that the nursing home industry is going to be wiped out. But thinking back to all I've read about the original sin of America and the complete ethnic cleansing of Native Americans, slavery, foreign adventures that lead to the death and destruction of millions, etc...maybe the average American needs to be seeing and experiencing endless food lines with the military throwing bread at people...this isnt just something seen in "third world" countries. Its been one month into the mid March lockdown, and America is becoming unrecognizable as is many parts of the world who are just at the doorstep of the abyss. In my deeper dives into conspiracy power point videos on video google in the later 2000s, I remember coming across one talking about how by 2012 waves of contracting major events would happen so fast and furious, like moon effected waves on a beach that we wouldn't be able to even understand what was going on; and that all possibilities were on the table. 13 years on here I can definitely say we've arrived into the unknown.

Wouldn't worry too much - the population existing in a state of fear is a structural condition of finance capitalism. Their desire to make money is, to a degree, also the protection against the notion that events will ever occur which are ever *actually* catastrophic. Seems like the big evil plans are pretty rote: withdraw from global bodies (like Kyoto, WHO), demolish social safety nets, further cut unwanted regulatory bodies and protection agencies, etc. The panic allows it and the deaths are inconsequential. But recall, people have been begging Trump to use the DAA and he won't do it. And, to a degree, people were begging for martial law or something close and he wouldn't do it. The endgame predicted 2008 or so was waaaaaaaaaaay wrong. This is just a series of opportunisitic (if devastating) tweaks to the existing system and so long as the weird partisanist red-rover game and celebrity scapegotating continues, all is well.
