After reviewing 162 official NYPD disciplinary dispositions between December 2017 and March 2019, the News revealed most cops found guilty in departmental proceedings of false arrest, assault or discourtesy toward people they meet on the street had to give up fewer than 15 vacation days.
Thirty-one of the cases reviewed involved the public, but stricter penalties of 16 vacation days or more were imposed in only a third of them and only two cops were put on dismissal probation, the last stop before being fired.

In 1952, in the early stages of the Korean War, North Korea accused the United States of using biological weapons — a claim the US has always denied. Journalist and retired psychologist Jeffrey Kaye found a copy of a report by the International Scientific Commission on the issue, originally released in 1952. Its investigation concluded that the US used a number of biological weapons, including anthrax, plague, and cholera, and that the confessions of many captured American airmen provided confirmation.
Those confessions were characterized by the US as the result of torture and brainwashing, which Kaye now believes were exaggerated to discredit the biowarfare claims. He describes the events of March 25, 1952, when a swarm of fleas — later found to be infected with bubonic plague — was dropped from aircraft on the North Korean village of Kang-Sou.
Jeffrey Kaye is a retired psychologist and the author of Coverup at Guantánamo: The NCIS Investigation into the “Suicides” of Mohammed Al Hanashi and Abdul Rahman Al Amri (publisher: Jeffrey S. Kaye, PhD, 2nd edition: September 10, 2016). He has written widely about torture, asylum, and many other issues related to the US military.

Serious concerns with the conduct of the Covid-19 vaccine clinical trials

Did you know…this past week major media outlets reported four new serious concerns about the Covid-19 vaccine trials?

•NY Times 9/22: Two vaccine experts identify a major flaw in the Covid-19 vaccine trials. The trials are focusing on whether the vaccines prevent mild disease, not moderate or severe disease which are the major concerns. (1)

•Washington Post 9/22: A former Harvard Medical School physician and AIDS researcher, Dr. William Hazeltine, agrees with the NY Times article. Further he notes that the design of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine trials is such that they could be considered a success with fewer than 100 people vaccinated. These are not nearly enough numbers to determine long-term efficacy and safety. (2)

•CNN 9/25: The AstraZeneca Covid-19 trial is still paused in the US as more information is becoming available about 2 participants in UK who experienced severe neurological autoimmune diseases during the vaccine trial. US physicians question whether the diseases are unrelated to the vaccine as AstraZeneca claims. (3)

•NBC News 9/24: Perhaps most alarming is the news that Dr. Richard Whitley, the chair of the US Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) evaluating the vaccine trials in the US, has significant conflicts of interest. In 2019 he received consulting fees from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) which is making a COVID-19 vaccine, and he is on the board of Gilead Sciences which manufactures remdesivir. He also oversees another DSMB for GSK. The identities of the other members of the DSMB are being withheld. According to conflict of interest guidelines, DSMB members or their family members should have no professional, proprietary or financial relationship with companies sponsoring the research.  (4)

•In a Pew Research Center poll of over 10,000 Americans conducted September 8-13, those who say they would get a COVID-19 vaccine has dropped sharply with only 21% stating they would “definitely” get the vaccine. (5)

By all accounts, the frontrunner to be Joe Biden’s pick for Secretary of Defense is Michèle Flournoy. It’s a prospect that should do more than set off alarm bells — it should be understood as a scenario for the president-elect to stick his middle fingers in the eyes of Americans who are fed up with endless war and ongoing militarism.
Warning and petitioning Biden to dissuade him from a Flournoy nomination probably have scant chances of success. But if Biden puts her name forward, activists should quickly launch an all-out effort to block Senate confirmation.
As the Biden administration takes office, progressives have an opportunity to affirm and amplify the position that Martin Luther King Jr. boldly articulated when he insisted that “I never intend to adjust myself to the madness of militarism.” In the present day, the pernicious and lucrative aspects of that madness are personified in the favorite to be Biden’s Defense Secretary.

Drs. Tyson and Fareed's protocol for treatment and prevention of Covid-19, as discussed during Nov 19 Senate hearing 
 
Dr. George Fareed and his partner Dr. Brian Tyson have together successfully treated over 1,000 Covid patients.  They have been adjusting their protocol over time, and now use both HCQ and ivermectin.  Why not, for a potentially fatal disease?  Why not maximize the potential benefit?  How many drugs was Trump given when he had Covid?
Here is the protocol provided to the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee after Dr. Fareed's Nov 19 testimony.

Senator Josh Hawley submitted questions to Dr. Fareed to clarify his testimony for the record. Here is the correspondence between the Senator and Fareed on December 10:
Sen. Hawley: In your testimony, you say that timing is everything when it comes to treatment and that the best time for outpatient treatment to prevent hospitalization comes when “the virus is in a period of maximum replication in the upper respiratory tract.” Can you explain what this would mean for a patient? Would this be five days after exposure, or ten days? Or is it based on symptoms?  
Dr. Fareed: The earlier the treatment can be started after the start of the infection, the better and more rapid the recovery (as well as the reduction in the risk of spread/contagious period). This would mean that the patient should optimally start the treatment in the first 4 days of the infection and within five days of exposure. It usually is based on symptoms which start within 1-4 days of viral entry into the upper respiratory system. Even starting the multi-faceted treatment later (7-10 days after infection) is also very worthwhile if severe pneumonia necessitating hospitalization has not yet set in.
Sen. Hawley: In your experience, are patients typically coming in to get treated at this point in their illness? And if not, what do you think we need to do to encourage high-risk individuals to seek outpatient treatment and care? 
Dr. Fareed: More patients are coming in to get treated or contacting me from afar for treatment when they can’t receive the treatment in their local communities. Sadly, many infected people and primary care doctors and doctors in ERs follow the NIH and Dr. Fauci stipulations with no effective treatments offered. We need to have the NIH/FDA/CDC formally acknowledge the importance of early treatment with moderately acting, safe anti-virals so readily available. When (if ever) that happens, everything would improve dramatically. Thank you, Senator Hawley,  for all your efforts and for allowing me to respond to these excellent questions.
The following is the protocol Drs. Fareed and Tyson have jointly developed as most effective for their COVID-19 patients:

Prophylaxis is an action taken to prevent or protect against a specified disease. Greek in origin, from the word "phylax", meaning "to guard" and "watching." 
Low Risk Patients
Young healthy people do not need prophylaxis against COVID-19. In young and healthy people, this infection causes mild cold-like symptoms. It is advantageous for these patients to be exposed to COVID-19, build up their antibodies and have their immune system clear the virus. This will facilitate the development of herd immunity and help prevent future COVID-19 pandemics. However, if these patients desire prophylaxis against COVID-19, then they should take the protocol noted below. 
Moderate-Risk Patients
Patients from this category are healthy but have high potential viral-load exposure. This group includes medical personnel, caregivers of high-risk patients, people who use public transportation, first responders and other essential personnel who are crucial to the continued functioning of society. These patients should be encouraged to take prophylaxis against COVID-19 in accordance with the protocol noted below.
High-Risk Patients
Patients are considered high risk if they are over the age of 60, or if they are younger than 60 but they have comorbidities, that is, they have other health conditions that put them at risk. These patients have between a 5 to 10 percent mortality rate if they are infected with COVID-19. These patients should be strongly encouraged to take prophylaxis against COVID-19 in accordance with the protocol noted below. 
Protocol for Low and Moderate Risk Patients:
Elemental Zinc 25 mg once a day[1]
Vitamin C 1000 mg once a day[2]
Quercetin 500 mg once a day 
If Quercetin is unavailable, then use Epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG) 400 mg once a day[3]
Protocol for High-Risk Patients:
Elemental Zinc 25 mg once a day

The spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 (what the mRNA vaccines cause our cells to produce) may be responsible for some of Covid's worst symptoms
 
This is the most thoughtful and erudite response I have seen to the experiment of turning humans into factories to make Covid (mutated) spike (S) protein.  Neither Pfizer, Moderna nor the FDA have commented in any publicly available documents on the serious safety questions this review of the literature raises.
Dr. Patrick Whelan, MD, PhD, formerly of Mass General Hospital and now UCLA, submitted the following letter about the mRNA vaccines to the FDA on December 8:
I am a pediatric specialist caring for children with the multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C). I am concerned about the possibility that the new vaccines aimed at creating immunity against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (including the mRNA vaccines of Moderna and Pfizer) have the potential to cause microvascular injury to the brain, heart, liver, and kidneys in a way that does not currently appear to be assessed in safety trials of these potential drugs.

Puntmann et al. (JAMA Cardiol. 2020;5:1265-1273) showed that the prospective study of 100 German patients who were recently recovered from COVID-19 revealed significant cardiac involvement on cardiac MRI scans in 78% of them, an average 2-1/2 months after their recovery from the acute illness. Two-thirds of these patients were never hospitalized, and there was ongoing myocardial inflammation in 60%. The abnormalities occurred independent of preexisting conditions, severity of the initial disease, and overall course of the acute illness.

Magro et al. showed that there is complement-mediated damage even in grossly normal skin of coronavirus-infected individuals (Human Pathology 2020:106:106-116). They have also shown (Magro et al. Annals of Diagnostic Pathology 2021:50 in press ) that ACE-2 receptor expression is highest in the microvasculature of the brain and subcutaneous fat, and to a lesser degree in the liver, kidney, and heart. They have further demonstrated that the coronavirus replicates almost exclusively in the septal capillary endothelial cells of the lungs and the nasopharynx, and that viral lysis and immune destruction of those cells releases viral capsid proteins (or pseudovirions) that travel through the circulation and bind to ACE2 receptors in these other parts of the body leading to mannan-binding lectin complement pathway activation that not only damages the microvascular endothelium but also induces the production of many pro-inflammatory cytokines. Meinhardt et al. (Nature Neuroscience 2020, in press) show that the spike protein in brain endothelial cells is associated with formation of microthrombi (clots), and like Magro et al. do not find viral RNA in brain endothelium. In other words, viral proteins appear to cause tissue damage without actively replicating virus.

Is it possible the spike protein itself causes the tissue damage associated with Covid-19? Nuovo et al (in press) have shown that in 13/13 brains from patients with fatal COVID-19, pseudovirions (spike, envelope, and membrane proteins) without viral RNA are present in the endothelia of cerebral microvessels. Furthermore, tail vein injection of the full length S1 spike subunit in mice led to neurologic signs (increased thirst, stressed behavior) not evident in those injected with the S2 subunit. The S1 subunit localizes to the endothelia of microvessels in the mouse brain, and is a potent neurotoxin. So the spike S1 subunit of SARS-CoV-2 alone is capable of being endocytosed by ACE2 positive endothelia in both human and mouse brain, with a concomitant pauci-cellular microencephalitis that may be the basis for the neurologic complications of COVID-19. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine (BNT162b2) is composed of an mRNA that produces a membrane-anchored full-length spike protein. The mouse studies suggest that an untruncated form of the S1 protein like this may cause a microvasculopathy in tissues that express much ACE2 receptor. A truncated form of S1 was much less damaging in mice.

While there are pieces to this puzzle that have yet to be worked out, it appears that the viral spike protein that is the target of the major SARS-CoV-2 vaccines is also one of the key agents causing the damage to distant organs that may include the brain, heart, lung, and kidney. Before any of these vaccines are approved for widespread use in humans, it is important to assess in vaccinated subjects the effects of vaccination on the heart (perhaps using cardiac MRI, as Puntmann et al. did). Vaccinated patients could also be tested for distant tissue damage in deltoid area skin biopsies, as employed by Magro et al. As important as it is to quickly arrest the spread of the virus by immunizing the population, it would be vastly worse if hundreds of millions of people were to suffer long-lasting or even permanent damage to their brain or heart microvasculature as a result of failing to appreciate in the short-term an unintended effect of full-length spike protein-based vaccines on these other organs.

Particular caution will be required with regard to the potential widespread vaccination of children before there are any real data on the safety or effectiveness of these vaccines in pediatric trials that are only now beginning.

First country bans ivermectin, a lifesaver for Covid--will the US be next?

Ivermectin, a cheap generic drug used for hookworm, heartworm and scabies, with a half life causing it to remain in your system for months, is used as a "worming" medicine in children, dogs, horses.
Serendipitously, it was found to be extremely effective in Covid, for both prevention and treatment.  It is even effective at a late stage of illness, unlike hydroxychloroquine.  The drug seems to work against SARS-CoV-2 even better than hydroxychloroquine and other antimalarials.  Unlike the chloroquine drugs, its efficacy was only established during the past several months.  Many studies now prove its value in Covid-19.
Ivermectin's routine use in places like Africa probably contributed to African's extraordinary resistance to Covid-19, which has rates of death a small fraction what they are in the US. Most African countries have reported death rates from Covid-19 between 1% and 10% that of the US.
A US Senate hearing led by Senator Ron Johnson on December 8 called as witnesses doctors who were using the drug, who discussed its use and extreme benefit in the Covid epidemic. 
That appears to have initiated a firestorm of fake news about how the drug is dangerous, unproven, and should not be used for Covid.  The Associated Press led the way, employing journalist Beatrice Dupuy, who specializes in debunking Covid misinformation, and who previously wrote for Teen Vogue. AP also used Facebook's opaque "fact checking" system.  Then other media outlets followed.
On Christmas eve, 16 days after the Senate hearing that gave ivermectin its first broad publicity, the government of South Africa banned its use and importation as a treatment for Covid.  No specific safety issue was cited as the reason.  There is no specific safety issue; the drug is extremely safe, although a large burden of dead worms can sometimes sicken a patient.
The chloroquine drugs are also very effective treatments for early Covid, but their use for this purpose has been obfuscated, banned, and interfered with using a huge number of strategies.  I created a list of 53 different strategies that have been employed to prevent chloroquine drugs being used in many countries. The strategies were enormously effective.  Few doctors and patients have any idea that real "magic bullets" exist to cure Covid.  Fewer still have realized that by preventing access to highly effective drugs, our rulers deliberately prolong the pandemic and maximize the deaths. 
Make no mistake:  proper use of chloroquine drugs or ivermectin would be a game changer.  They would end the Covid-19 pandemic, with or without vaccines. 
The banning of ivermectin in South Africa is a TRIAL BALLOON--if the powers that be can get away with it there, they will start banning it elsewhere.  Do everything in your power to prevent this from happening. Please spread the word.  Get your doctor to prescribe the drug for you.  Write letters to the newspaper.  Please DO SOMETHING!

NATIONAL CONFERENCE BRINGS ENERGY, STRATEGIES, INFORMATION TO PORTLAND
Portland Copwatch was proud to be the main hosting organization for a National Conference on Police Accountability, held October 15-17 at Portland State University with support from PSU Community for Justice. It was cosponsored by the National Coalition on Police Accountability (NCOPA), which held similar conferences in the 1990s (see PPRs #1, 4, 8, 10 &12). The event provided new and informative views on issues facing police accountability activists, and the participants left the conference with renewed enthusiasm for the tasks ahead.

About 100 people attended from 10 states and at least 15 cities. Activists, review board members, survivors and families of victims, ministers, and even a police officer came. About 20 attendees went for a candlelight walk/rally/vigil which stopped at Portland's City Hall, and at the (in)Justice Center (downtown police

Google/YouTube censor Senate hearing on ivermectin and early treatment of Covid-19/Wall Street journal

Google’s YouTube has ratcheted up censorship to a new level by removing two videos from a U.S. Senate committee. They were from a Dec. 8 Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs hearing on early treatment of Covid-19.  One was a 30-minute summary; the other was the opening statement of critical-care specialist Pierre Kory.
Dr. Kory is part of a world-renowned group of physicians who developed a groundbreaking use of corticosteroids to treat hospitalized Covid patients.  His testimony at a May Senate hearing helped doctors rethink treatment protocols and saved lives. 

At the December hearing, he presented evidence regarding the use of ivermectin, a cheap and widely available drug that treats tropical diseases caused by parasites, for prevention and early treatment of Covid-19.  He described a just-published study from Argentina in which about 800 health-care workers received ivermectin and 400 didn’t.  Not one of the 800 contracted Covid-19; 58% of the 400 did.

Dr. Kory asked the National Institutes of Health to review his group’s manuscript outlining dozens of successful trials and to consider updating its Aug. 27 guidance in which it recommended “against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of Covid-19, except in a clinical trial.”  On Dec. 10, Sen. Rand Paul and I sent a letter to the NIH requesting that it review Dr. Kory’s evidence.

On Jan. 14, NIH changed its guidance to neutral by acknowledging the successful trials but determined “that currently there are insufficient data to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of Covid-19.”  On Jan. 22 I sent an oversight letter asking what actions the NIH had taken to explore the use of repurposed drugs for treating Covid-19.

Before being removed from YouTube and other websites, Dr. Kory’s opening statement had been viewed by more than eight million people.  Unfortunately, government health agencies don’t share that interest in early treatment. A year into the pandemic, NIH treatment guidelines for Covid patients are to go home, isolate yourself and do nothing other than monitor your illness.
Fortunately, some doctors have the courage to ignore these compassionless guidelines and are using their expertise to develop protocols utilizing a variety of cheap, available and safe FDA-approved drugs to treat patients early and avoid hospitalization. Instead of being rewarded, they are being censored, ostracized, vilified in the press, even fired.  This closed-minded approach represents a dark chapter in the history of medicine and journalism.
The censors at YouTube have decided for all of us that the American public shouldn’t be able to hear what senators heard. Apparently they are smarter than medical doctors who have devoted their lives to science and use their skills to save lives. They have decided there is only one medical viewpoint allowed, and it is the viewpoint dictated by government agencies. Government-sanctioned censorship of ideas and speech should frighten us all.
Mr. Johnson, a Republican, is a U.S. senator from Wisconsin.

The UK’s controversial Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS) bill is on the verge of becoming law, after MPs again voted overwhelmingly in its favour on 27 January.
The legislation grants undercover operatives – both employees of British state agencies and their informants – permission to not only commit crimes up to and including rape, torture and murder, but also insulates them from criminal prosecution and civil actions for doing so.
The bill sailed through its first parliamentary reading, although it received a decidedly less welcome reception in the House of Lords. Peers voted to insert significant amendments to the legislation, including restricting the crimes which covert human intelligence sources – Chises – can be authorized to commit, and curtailing howand when individuals who are “vulnerable”, and/or under the age of 18, can be utilised as agents.

I said yesterday that the government is trying to destroy the health care system. Nursing homes are about to lose many staff.

No Medicaid and Medicare funds to nursing homes without fully vaxxed staff.  Yet the staff have seen what the vaccinations did to the residents, which is probably why they are the least vaccinated healthcare workers.
Woe to those who have to live in nursing homes.  Hospitals are losing staff.  This is not by chance, but by design.  The institutions of society are being decimated.  Death by 1,000 cuts.

Frederick Wiseman's "Titicut Follies" was filmed in 1966 at the State Hospital for the Criminally Insane at Bridgewater, Mass. It was shown at the 1967 New York Film Festival, had two limited runs in New York and -- aside from a few screenings before film societies -- has had no other distribution. This is its first commercial booking outside New York.
It is not hard to understand why this is the case. "Titicut Follies" is one of the most despairing documentaries I have ever seen; more immediate than fiction because these people are real; more savage than satire because it seems to be neutral.

We are literally taken into a madhouse. Inmates of varying degrees of mental illness are treated with the same casual inhumanity. There is an old man named Jim who is constantly taunted by the guards, whose uniforms are disturbingly similar to a policeman's. While he is being shaved with fast, painful strokes by the barber, the guards needle him: "Why's your room so filthy, Jim? What's that you said, Jim?" They are bullies who have their victim pinned and helpless.
When Jim is returned to his room, it is an absolutely empty cell. And Jim is naked. It appears that the inmates are deprived of clothing much of the time because that is cheaper and makes security easier. It is not explained how naked confinement in a barren cell cures mental illness and indeed this hospital seems to come from the Middle Ages
