I do not think think AOC is a "fraud." I think Jimmy Dore is a fraudulent, useful comedian who spreads carefully orchestrated rightwing smears.

What is so "left" about Jimmy Dore?

If you still think there is a Left in existence anywhere in the political machinery of the Anglosphere, then not only have you not been paying attention, you haven't understood the last forty years, let alone the last two. Dore tried to take Cortez at her word when she said she'd be a one term wonder in congress who would shake things up and get things done. Of course she meant it.

Even before she was elected I understood she was far too ignorant and brittle, image obsessed and malleable to last for very long. I suppose I'm a walking right wing talking point.

She's now a permanent and neutered fixture of the political machinery of the United States of America. But sure, it's Jimmy's fault that the language of the Left has been hijacked by the corporate industrial skull fuckers across the Anglosphere and that seasoned commentators can't see it while those who can see it and can articulate what has happened, like Greenwald, Dore, Blumenthal etc, are suddenly 'right wing'.

It must be frightening to have no idea what the hell is happening.

Aaron Maté is not spreading far-right ideas and is on the money, but Jimmy Dore is a huckster and a grifter. Like Greenwald, his class analysis, ahem, leaves something to be desired, quite like Glenn Grennwald's. Greenwald is more sophisticated and although more and more succumbs to his pugilistic impulse just to disagree with everyone else these days, does good reporting. But still, Greenwald did argue that Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon are fucking socialists and that hurt A LOT...

That being said, Jimmy Dore is mos def going for the incel edgelord segment, he just grabs what he can to make cool sounding "dissident" arguments. For him, owning the libs justifies allying himself with the far right, as far as I can see...

While he is an annoying blowhard, I challenge you to name five actual takes he has made recently in which he was not on the exact right side.

And the same goes for Blumenthal and Greenwald and Taibbi.

Despite my disagreements with them and the hucksterism of all but Taibbi, they are the best we have got, IMHO.

Mate is the best overall politically, but I haven't heard his timid ass say a peep about the raging WEF vaccine passport dystopian takeover.

There is a reason that all of these people talk to Jimmy Dore.

It's a shame that they killed Michael Brooks. We could use his acumen, grace, and tact.

The people who matter are the ones seated in or running for Congress and trying to change the goddamned laws. I don't have time to listen to comedians explain politics to me. I want to change the fucking laws. Nobody else is fucking doing it. It's hard.

The future of the US will not be defined by anything coming out of Jimmy Dore's lips now or ever. The future is shaped by Congress' pen.

Wait "they killed" Michael Brooks..? Where has this been bruited about? First I heard...

Apparently I've been too long off RI. Have to change that.

I don't deny that Dore may be "on the right side" of most issues, as the mainstream is literally wrong in every instance, it seems.

However, to me, the way he goes about doing what he does reveals that he is in it as a performance. It might be that he is just naive af, I don't really follow him that much because frankly I just find him too annoying, self-satisfied and smug. In any case, the same smugness infects Blumenthal too I think, and to an extent Benjamin Norton. Too many bad, clumsy ass inside jokes about the Clinton Foundation, neocons etc., it just gets old. Greenwald is just a bit of a crank, I think, his style is still the most persuasive of them all, aside from Taibbi, who seems to have come along nicely, even allowing for the possibility of the JFK assassination as a coup d'etat these days.

:backtotopic:

ANYWAY, sorry, back to AOC

Dore just isn't middle class enough, be honest. He's a working class comedian and he's doing better work than ten thousand so called journalists and he's energised millions of the disenfranchised like myself to realise we are not alone. Oh, but he annoys you. Perhaps he can clearly articulate what you fellows can or will not? Perhaps he's been right when both of you have been wrong? Whatever it is, the fact you've virtually accused him of being a racist, Elvis, speaks for itself. (What else is 'right wing' code for these days?)

By contrast the attractive mirage of AOC has done what exactly? How many laws has she changed Elvis? How many of the several opportunities to do exactly what she promised has she actually taken? How many has she thrown under bus? How many times has she flopped on her so called principles? Whatever you thought she might have been, she's just another party hack.

To quote the zombie in chief: Come on, man.

"The future is shaped by Congress' pen"? You're still holding on to that, eh? Beyond the fact that such an ideal has been challenged historically by powerful lobbies, special interests, and corruption, the events over the last ~2 years (or really, anything since 2001 as far as overt actions by govt 'representatives'*) have made it abundantly clear the vast majority of U.S. representatives on both sides of the aisle are irredeemably compromised, captured, and/or simply too cowardly to represent the interests of the majority. The system has long since broken, at least as a form of representation for the majority (those outside the upper 1%).

That's not to say there aren't actions to be taken by the People. The truckers, and the global protests, show that there are options for us. But it won't be easy, and it'll likely get worse -- perhaps far worse -- before it gets better. And I still believe there are numerous opt-out options for any of us. These attempts at large-scale control aren't sustainable. There is far more resistance to it, right now, than perhaps was anticipated.

Those in power may be able to capture certain demographics or pockets of land (particularly in more urban areas); TBD. The next ~year will offer a better sense of it.

*prior to 2001 there were blatant power grabs as well, but broadly performed more covertly, with lapdogs in media assisting as needed. Nowadays, the overt power grabs are clear as day, and still, many have their eyes and ears firmly closed. Refusing to see what's there to see.

But yes: in my view AOC is indeed a fraud, but that simply means she's part of the team. Not your team. Not 'the people's' team.

She's assimilated.

As for Michael Brooks, I just have a less than rigorous intuition that he was hit with the same blood clot Reagun that was used on Bernie Sanders. In the wake of Sanders' total capitulation, Brooks' was the only then extant voice that TPTB had any reason to fear, IMHO.

But back to AOC. What has she done for anybody recently?

Seriously. What? Can you even name one thing?

To be honest, I don't even follow her anymore since she threw Sanders under the bus because of Joe Rogan's endorsement. But, as far as I can tell, she has been entirely mum about just about everything other than her lame, dissembling sheepdogging for Biden and Democratic party and her "Let them eat rich!" designer dress.

Given any evidence of her doing or even saying anything laudable, I would be happy to change my mind. Does anyone have any?
