No, it's not an animation. It's your mind playing tricks on you. Mmmmm hmmmm. Enjoy!

Original source here.

yeah, found that many years back and reproduced it in oils on canvas... it works real good messing with people's heads.

Wow, ZeroHaven, that sounds like quite an undertaking. How many hours did you spend doing the painting? That would seem to be more like a Diversion for Insanity! ;-)

Hey, ya got a picture of your painting? What size is it?

No pics of it, never thought to take one. It's in storage for another six months (with the rest of my life!).

I'm not sure how long it took, but I never spend more than 1 day on anything.. so it's less than 10 hours. 3ftx4ft canvas.
I did green and beige.
The colors don't really matter as long as they're different from each other, so if you try it yourself you can match your furniture.

It's not really hard to do if you make oval-shaped stencils and mark off the circles to fill in. And let me tell ya, it's less of a Diversion for Insanity than knitting an adult-sized sweater.. oy.

well, i am just completely over-the-moon happy right now! the band just did their thang on the radio, and not only did i love their performance, which went off without a hitch, but the radio gal said "your parents must be proud of you" and my kid replied with how supportive his parents (and all of their parents) have been and went on to say how he was real grateful for that.

he did know i was listening, so maybe he's planning to ask for something big from santa? tee hee

he was funny in the interview, too. when asked about Jon BonJovi, he went on in a perfectly serious voice about how he and the band have always had times when they needed guidance and they had to step back for a bigger-picture view and ask themselves :what would BonJovi do?

one more band to audition tomorrow, and we should know who will be the opening act, by tomorrow afternoon.

this band has worked hard, practiced constantly, scraped together and invested their own money, made their tours happen themselves. they write all their own songs, and feel great gratitude for their fans.

i would so love to see them get the chance to perform in front of a large audience with a real soundman running the show...

but, no matter what, i could not be happier for them today!

woo hoo!

well, my kid's band wound up second in the voting, so they won't be opening for Bon Jovi.

the only thing i'm disappointed about is that the band that was chosen is the only band of the 5 that already has a known name around here (and everybody has seen as many times as they want to). but we expected as much. this is a top-40 golden-oldies kinda town. judges played it safe.

i truly think the audience would really have enjoyed one of the newer groups. people say there's no good new music. not true. would've been awesome to see some youngsters get a chance.

next up for my kid is a tour starting in january. i hate it when they're out driving all over the country during icy-road season, but as long as deer and raccoons stay off the road, they've done just fine before.

so on we rock! woo hoo!

Very nice. Ve-e-e-ery nice! Winding up second means they really WERE the best; the contest was about who would come in second (the judges had already made up their minds.)

How kind and supportive you are of your son's music! I depend on parents like you, to get students (I just started teaching in a music store again, guitar, bass, voice.) Teaching is such a blast for me... seeing young 'uns grow and develop into people I'm proud to see on stage. --MaryK --MaryK

I LOVE this thread. That optical illusion is a great mind-clearer.
