Y'know......
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

Even if not, there's no arguing with a bass line that superb. And no reason to even try, when it's deployed by a force for good, as here. All rhetoric evaporates in the face of it. Plus, it feels amazing.

Thank God, and the Marine Corps above for internet anonymity.

And the recent behaviour of MP after his return I still find utterly perplexing. I must say, I sometimes wonder about the security of our accounts here, and whether there is a possibility of impersonation.
Dunno anything at all about MP, but it would be pretty trivial for someone upstream to sniff a username/pass combo and thereby impersonate someone.
SSL would help a lot in this regard. If the RigInt forum were an https site, like when you use your credit card to buy something, things would be considerably more secure. And it shouldn't cost much from your hosting provider. This would also in theory protect us users from ISPs sniffing our opinions. I have no doubt the big boys can crack SSL, but why make it easy to collect data on us?

I was here under a different nickname way back, but then I forgot my password and username when I didnt post in a while
There, my memorys just fine! And have been lurking ever since - 2001? I think. One of my favourite places on the web, thank you all very much, and a toast to all the lost souls...
Edit: Re: SSL and HTTPS - You really should look into it, Jeff..Its pretty easy to implement, and would provide good security for passwords and usernames. As it is now, anyone tech savvy could go about collecting logins. Especially the alphabet agency guys.. You could still allow everyone to browse the forum, but keep that as HTTPS as well. Nowadays all browsers support it, so nobody would be left out either.

It would likely work to prevent criminals and/or amateur crusaders but I doubt it could stop someone serious with good resources. [like an alphabet agency] [too much time on their hands?]

I like to use strong encryption on everything I can, just for fun
My father used to work for USAF SAC a few decades ago, and I know what they were [theoretically] capable of then, so I hold no illusions about my ability to hide things from them. [especially on the DARPA-backdoored-internet]
That said, most of the time identity theft is by amateurs, so it could be worthwhile to have more secure ids. I truly doubt the alaphabet guys would hack a site like this. Probably just botting for their records if anything. No real tangible gain for the time it would take them [even though its less than we probably think]. If they want to hack you, they go right to your provider.
Not much you can do about it, but it seems unlikely, with the staff shortages they have now and all that they'd waste their time on something so inane.
Personally I miss John Nemo. Even if he did think I was a pedophile, his anger was a refreshing change from the liberal-slacker-apathy so common in my neighborhood.
Maybe someday he'll come back and we can have a civil discussion and maybe reach some sort of understanding.
